Hauer in The Hitcher is one of the great film villains.

I'm glad it's been reappraised in recent years. Such an uncanny atmosphere. Mark Isham's score is an all time great IMO.

Yes!

Oh, and:

Matt Damon was cast recently too.

Rumours are that it's a vampire flick set in the 1920s.

2026 is going to be epic.

I think chris nolan was remaking the prisoner

Watched ‘Speak no evil’ last weekend with James McAvoy.  Decent enough psychological thriller.

Really enjoyed the original, but it's bleak.

By all accounts they've changed the ending for the Hollywood remake but I think the consensus seems to be that it works.

Will deffo watch it when it's available to stream.

I have not seen the original film, so can’t comment on a comparison.  James McAvoy( who looks a  little like Russell Crowe in this) puts in a very convincing performance.

That was an early rumour and could still be true. Latest rumour is that it might be something to do with helicopter pilots.

In truth we probably won't even know until the trailer drops.

I remember a few years ago, Christopher Nolan was eyeing an live action darker toned Captain Scarlet remake.

Think he's too late... though it's been done already with Mikel Arteta

Scary when you note the amount of pollution the story reveals has been absorbed by most of us all

.... don't worry, not really a problem when the economy can surge and folks can make a quick buck.

Apparently.

Interesting cast.  Is it the story, or the characters that compare unfavourably with the original?

The lead isn't a strong enough character and it just seems flat with very little character development.

Denzel Washington is wasted in it really.

I think they just referred to the first too much, rather than focusing on a new film with a good story. It will date quicker than the first with the 'special effects' too. Just as the Hobbit has compared to the original LOTR.

I thought Gladiator II was the epitome of a mixed bag, but this is spot on. On a big screen with good sound, the battles and the recreation of ancient Rome are impressive, but after about 30 mins it gets pretty lost in callbacks to the first film and messy political plotting.

In fairness though, even in his best films, Ridley Scott has never been very good at telling an actual story. His strengths are atmosphere and visuals.

Watched Spotlight and Dark Waters over the weekend

Both brilliant investigative films based on real life events starring Mark Ruffalo

Great films. If you’ve not watched already, you may as well watch Zodiac for the mark ruffalo trilogy!
