Aaron Lilley all over again

They both average a 50 every 25 innings or so with Lilley having played a hundred games more. Budinger averages 13 at 134 and Lilley averaged 20 at 147.

If Budinger is going to play 100 more he'll need to significantly improve though at least he seems to control his discipline.

Absolute bottle jobs as usual! We're an absolute embrassment to the competition! Don't know why we bother!

I mean, did you watch Notts last weekend?

Side batting first has won pretty comfortably at every Birmingham home game this season. It wasn’t tonight that was the problem. One of the Derby games or even winning the tied game would have been enough.

We’ve probably done pretty well to be in with a shout at the end of the league. Our numbers two and three average 12 in T20. Our number 4 is a great first class player, but just doesn’t have the power for T20. Rishi is class, but has lost form. But we’re not a top four side.

Shite effort tonight, but losing away to these isn't why we're missing out.

Indeed.  Key issue was being "Samited" twice by Derbyshire, having been well on top in both games.

Just not enough power players in that top 4 and we are a seam bowler short really. We've got Salisbury and Wright on the staff but neither play the blast. Mike has one good game in a blue moon. If we aren't going to play Salisbury hopefully he'll be released and we can sign someone else.

The reality is we wouldn't have troubled the North Group top 6 let alone the top 4 without the addition of Goldsworthy and Currie; it's a big concern that they won't be here (or adequately replaced) next campaign.

As others have said or alluded to, T20 players well past their sell-by date (thanks Pete, thanks Jimmy) can do one. Budinger seems to have gone backwards since joining us from Notts' 2nd XI, if his contract was up at the end of the season I wouldn't renew.
