Sitting top tonight albeit with a game played more than anyone else but the last two wins have bolted the run rate right up.

Fantastic win. From 19-3 to winning by 165 runs. I said before the tournament that this was an excellent chance for us. We are just about the only team who are full strength for this. Only Rehan is in the hundred. Most other teams are either decimated by players leaving for the hundred or they use the competition for their young players. So far so good but we need to carry on this form.

It's definite self sabotage. They're doing the same with the T20 aswell. I reckon in a few years you'll see 2 extra Hundred teams, it'll be made into a T20 format and the county based blast competition will be a thing of the past sadly!

Sky demands something earlier in the season to fill the schedules when football finishes and you can't expand The Hundred much earlier as they want it to coincide with school holidays, while it would also clash with more Test matches. Even with a more big name players this year, to the naked eye, attendances at the Hundred games look well down on previous years.

 

Think the change to the T20 format is probably inevitable though, they have already ditched the kid-friendly shirt sponsorship, so it will soon completely shed the tag of being this simplified game for kids and mums. I think bowling two overs (5's) from the same end was a good innovation though.

Mentality impressive after those two defeats. Even the players who are leaving are giving their best. Great to see.

What would be the general consensus if somebody right now offered relegation but another one day trophy for the cabinet?

 

I know with a couple of wins we could very well still stay up but just wondering who’d take it if offered

Not sure anyone who was at Trent Bridge the last time we won it in 2023 would need to even ask that question!

Don't think.there's any danger of Sam Wood being the next player to make a permanent move to TB.Superb Commentry yesterday even the real Everton Carr got a mention which I never thought I would hear on a cricket commentary.Very interesting that with local radio no longer covering one day matches and the club paying the commentators they decided against using Richard Rae.Dan Whiting who they hired yesterday is always good value used to cover most Gloucestershire matches.He loves mentioning random 80s names anyone from Tom Wopat to Billy Hufsey who im.sure Ben Green copies with the mullet

Alex Green's contract runs out at the end of next season, feel it's critical the club ties him down to something longer before he's lured away by the bright lights of Notts etc. 

 

He seems to be making progress every game; that delivery to the dangerous Thomas was a beauty. Almost feared the worse when his first ball was a half-track pie dismissed out of his sight by Lammonby however, he quickly learnt the right length, pounded an excellent line and got his just rewards.

Need to get him signed up and Josh Hull firing, that would be amazing for the club.

Josh Hull is another out of contract. Holland, Cox, Trevaskis, Scriven are the other off the top of my head. All of which we'll lose because of Alfonsos ego! 😡

A kid asked him to sign his bag yesterday. Said he’d come back down. Didn’t bother.

It’s annoying he puts it like that because it makes Cox out to be some kind of bad egg when he’s the nicest lad in cricket. Then it just makes Thomas look like a prat.
