Abbas is indeed excellent. As for our batting.....

85-6 with our night watchman still in!!:nigel:

Sounds like they're good enough for the England top order.

that's a really horrible batting effort. The fact the nightwatchman can apply himself and bat for 3 hours shows it is not unplayable, and that our senior batsmen have massively underperformed. However we're not the only County side that appears unable to bat. Only Ackerman has registered a century in 4 day cricket this season. None from Horton, Cosgrove, Dexter and Eckersley in a combined total of about 65 innings. Our bowling has come on leaps and bounds this season, but the batting has regressed if anything. There's no point throwing loads of youngsters at it, but I would like to see Sam Evans given the last 4 County games to see if he can find his feet. Cozzy hasn't managed an innings of substance in weeks, so stand him down for a while, see if he can get some runs for the seconds.

And somehow we need to find a decent batsman over the winter, but frankly from the England team down there is a shortage of batters who can dig in.

They're now 83-0. This is a catastrophically bad day so far.

Awful

Been a good season but carrying to many. Klein, Eckersley, Parkinson offer nothing at this level. Cosgrove seems to be declining rapidly. Just offered him 2 more years.

Gloucestershire are a very poor team and they've totally hammered us. A terrible last 2 days. After a season where overall there has been some real progress there is a risk that it will all end really badly.

I'd heard he was unlikely to leave us when the other counties came calling because we'd given him the chance to be a pro, and he wanted to repay that faith. Hard to turn down the call of home and the chance to prove yourself there though. Good luck to him.

I'm hoping he made that choice because of friends and Family as imo they are no better than we are. Need 2 Seamers, 2 bats, 1 opener and a spinner. Few others being released anyway.

Put this one out there. What about a punt on Monty, pay and play basis.

Nick reckons Stevo is coming back. Mainly coaching.

Yep heard that one before still more then good enough to hold down a place. Nico would love to resign Shiv Thakor but a few board members against the idea quite rightly in my opinion

Why isn't Chappell playing? I know he was concussed a few weeks back but would have thought he'd be fit now? Was wondering if his absence was because he was off to Notts but Raine is still playing.
