Kent 70-4, following on. Still 267 behind Glamorgan. Only the weather can save them !

Really surprising, especially as they won the toss.

Northants still have a shot at beating Lancashire if they can get rid of Harris soon.

Innings defeat for Kent who are still stricken with injuries. Lancashire in big trouble against Northants and could be bottom of the table if they lose.

Ideal scenario for us.

Win at Lord's and that table will look superb.

It really will. Thinking of getting myself down there for one of the days as I live in London.

Can't believe Benkenstein still has a job done nothing at Gloucester to warrant getting a bigger club and has been a total.disaster at Lancs

Wisden have released the total attendances  that attended County cricket last year we were the 2nd lowest with 5037 down from 9607 in 2023 so works out less then 250 a day over 28 days. Northants the lowest with just 4470 Derby 8946 Notts managed a respectable 28280 Surrey the highest with 65280.Suspect those numbers will be even lower this year with the huge price increase in membership

That's quite sad. Putting prices up only works for desirable products or something in short supply and high demand. We short be cutting prices to attract more. Surrey have the huge advantage of only being 30 mins travel from a huge population - I used to pop down quite a bit when I lived in Peckham, without even being a Surrey supporter.

I’d imagine some of the difference would have been made up by the One Day semi final. Obviously not the majority of it but a decent chunk.

No the figures just Inc the county championship games

Good to see some of the recently injured/absent bowlers participating in today’s second eleven friendly at Derby and competing for places in the first eleven. Wright, Salisbury, Walker, Trevaskis all in the wickets but Mike seems to have stopped bowling part way through an over and only completed 3.1 overs in the day. Never a good sign!

Surrey have it easy with location and the type of people they can attract, but they really put on some good initiatives to boost attendances too. Beer festivals, community outreach, making space available for remote working etc.

There were a group of schoolchildren on a trip at Grace Road last Friday. Good to see.

If that posts aimed at me Tommy I've changed my mind now I'm no longer a member. They can give away as many free tickets as they like a few in my direction would be very nice

So what do we think the team will be for the first T20 game? Looking at the Staffordshire games I think it'll be something like this:-

Patel

Budinger

Kimber

Masood

Ahmed

Cox

Mike

Van Beek

Trevaskis

Scriven

Hull

Abit concerned we're short on batting after Cox, and Ahmeds strike rate and average ain't great but they insist on playing him in the top 4-5

Bowling is fine with Scrivo, Hull, Mike and vdB for pace and Ahmed and Trevaskis for spin.

Trevaskis is a good bat and Mike was threatening to be a very good t20 batter at one stage so I think batting depth is ok. My concern would be Budinger and Kimber who are both clearly capable of big hitting innings but are also both very inconsistent and Kimber hasn't looked in good knick in the red ball games he's played so far. Budinger should be tailor made for this format but has an awful t20 record averaging 13 from 26 games. Hopefully this year he turns that around.

Do the club gain anything from the agreement with other counties that their members can attend games?

Don't know but I doubt it. On a different note good to see Alex Green selected in the first class Counties 11 to face Zimbabwe on Thursday

Guess it's just a bit extra income from food and beers etc.

PCC XI vs Zimbabwe starts at Grace Road tomorrow, think it's mostly second XI lads who have had a few starts at first class level.

Alex Green the Leicestershire representative.

Josh De Caires will captain a Professional County Club Select XI in their four-day tour game against Zimbabwe Men at Leicester this week.

De Caires, 23, has made 21 first-class appearances for Middlesex and leads a 13-player squad which also includes Warwickshire all-rounder Dan Mousley and Yorkshire leg-spinner Jafer Chohan.

Mousley made his England Men’s debut during last winter’s white-ball tour of the Caribbean while Chohan earned his maiden international call-up for that same trip.

Essex all-rounder Luc Benkenstein and Somerset wicketkeeper-batter Thomas Rew have both previously captained England Men U19s.

Andrew Flintoff will coach the team alongside Mike Yardy, Neil Killeen, Sarah Taylor, Mark Wood and Neil McKenzie.

The four-day match begins at the Uptonsteel County Ground on Thursday 15 May.

PCC Select XI squad:

Josh De Caires (Middlesex - captain), Archie Bailey (Gloucestershire), Luc Benkenstein (Essex), Jafer Chohan (Yorkshire), Ben Dawkins (Kent), Alex Green (Leicestershire), Eddie Jack (Hampshire), Mitch Killeen (Durham), Ben Mayes (Hampshire), Seb Morgan (Middlesex), Dan Mousley (Warwickshire), Thomas Rew (Somerset), Jamal Richards (Essex).

Very surprised that Derby's attendances were nearly double ours.
