It seems to have degraded into a really tricky pitch. Play aggressively, you’ll get a good one, play defensively, you’ll get a good one, so there’s not much you can do apart from try and cash in. Yesterday we played defensively and screwed ourselves so maybe trying to learn from that

To be honest, I think we’re being quite naive here (again), yes it’s not the best pitch to bat on but we’re just chucking wickets away. Plenty of very good batsmen in the Derbyshire lineup, and they bat deep enough to get 350, if say Madsen, Came, Jewell get decent scores.

The ball Handscomb just got turned square at 70mph+, bradman would be struggling on this.

I’ll be surprised if they score as many as they did in their first innings. This pitch will be even worse to bat on. 150 a decent score by tomorrow if it lasts that long.

Derbyshire have had exceptional value out of Luis Reece. He averages 35 with the bat and 28 with the ball

Agree. Taylor has told them "Luis Reece has a ball with your name on it at some point so score as many as you can before he gets you".

Those numbers at Lancs or Surrey probably get you test caps. Shame he hasn't had the opportunity in D1 to see if he can do the same. Bear in mind he used to open batting and bowling for them as well, serious player.

Bit of sensible batting from Hill and Holland and we are in a much better position now. I know they shouldn’t get anywhere near this chase, but it is Leicestershire after all and usually things are never that straightforward. Anyhow, I wanted them to score around 150 and get the lead of around 350 for that psychological edge, and they’ve done that so fair play.
