It was all very high tech - I'd not even paid yet, but they took an electronic copy of what I'd scanned and then rescanned everything in the bags. What made it even more tense was that it said at first, just check 7 items, and then at the end of that it said she'd got to do the whole lot.

I spend a bloody fortune in that shop (and they know this thanks to the Nectar card) so I hope they'd be gentle with me if I made a small mistake but I might have been seconds away from being put in a headlock and pepper sprayed

They not check the stuff you'd snuck down your trousers then? Ultimate double bluff.

Had my first proper flying lesson today. Unbelievable fun and would recommend people go up with an instructor just for a jolly. Will say being 6ft 3 made it a bit of a squeeze in the in the 152.

Too hot for the traditional Sunday roast.

We're having a picky tea.

You can't beat a picky tea.

I've roasted a gammon joint, we've got new potatoes, bake at home sausage rolls, boiled eggs, pork pie, baguette, pickled onions, beetroot, salad (I've treated myself to some radishes), some pesto pasta, coleslaw, potato salad, quiche, a selection of crisps, then, to to it all off...party rings.

Love a picky dinner, we have them quite a lot now we're over here.

You know what you're missing though, to go with your baguette

Weird day today. Found out a week last Friday I was being made redundant in 10 days due to a ‘management restructure’ I was literally biffed off all programs and given no contact with my teams. Tomorrow the management tell them “we parted ways by mutual consent immediately” so no doubt I am going to have loads of messages of “wtf??” and have to tow the company line so as not to jeopardise my payout. Think it’s time to go it alone.

Spent much of the day reading messages from UK customers on holiday in Morocco asking when they will be refunded for excursions they've booked to the Atlas Mountains.

I really wanted to reply 'maybe after they've pulled all the dead bodies out' but I refrained, and tried hard to be polite. It's difficult though.

what's a picky dinner?

One where you just pick from loads of different food put out, usually cold stuff. A bit like a buffet, but less work to put it together!

My, and our friends families used to go to Center Parcs when the kids were young and on the last night we'd just eat whatever was in the fridge, largely what you have listed apart from roast gammon (it would be ham).

When we have something similar now, 20 plus years later, we still call it a Center Parcs dinner.

Lazy buffet isn't as catchy as picky dinner

Is there a difference between being too hot to cook a roast and too hot to eat one?  YES!  Never too hot to eat a roast.
