We're playing The Logo board game.

My category was numbers and letters, the question was: Name the worlds most popular brand of lubricant.

Apparently, I've ruined the evening as I said "KY Jelly"

The answer was WD40, but I stand by my answer that also fits in the category.

Might be one for the "unpopular opinions" thread, but WD40 is a water dispersal agent (clues in the name) and not a lubricant...

Seen to recall some other saddo moaning about this before.

For the second time in my life I find myself staying in a hotel full of basketball players. World Cup is in Jakarta (as well as Philippines and Japan).  Some very tall gentleman around the place.  At 6’2” I feel short.

My daughter got her GCSE results today.

She’s had a difficult childhood with quite a bit of trauma which led to her being diagnosed with OCD, borderline personality disorder, and depression. We’ve spent thousands on therapy for her over the last few years and she’s now improving.

Despite all that, she worked her arse off for her exams but always played down her expectations.

She ended up getting:

3x 6 grade

1x 7 grade

5 x 8 grade

1 x 9 grade

In old money I think that’s equivalent to 3 x B’s and 7 x A’s which is just awesome.

Couldn’t be more proud of her.

I had to ask the mrs who's a teacher what all these grades mean and she confirmed  that's brilliant  and you should be mega proud and well done to her.

👍👍👍

Be proud of yourself too Izzy. Can't be an easy job that.

So one part of my job is to write to insurance companies to get them to pay for stuff. I have to collect information from various sources, print it our then send it all in one fax.  It usually takes about 2 weeks to get an approval of payment back from them. Yesterday when printing Documents off  for a claim i found that one of them, inexplicably,  was 267 pages long! In total the fax i had to send  was a total of over 350 pages. Its by far the biggest fax i have ever had to send. Its usually a maximum of 60-70 pages. I left work last night fearing the worst and thinking just how long it was going to be until i hear back on this claim... Well i got to work at 8am this morning and the claim had already been approved lol . looking at the time on the Fax, it was approved and sent back within an hour of me sending them the original fax.. Some person has clearly taken one look at this massive 350+ page fax and is like " i'm not having that" and approved it and gone home lol. Me and my work colleagues have been laughing about it all day. Laughter is a good medicine.

I'm sure I've asked you this before, but I can't remember the answer. Why in God's name are you still using faxes in this day and age?!?

I wondered the same thing but apparently its a  regulatory legal requirement to have a physical copy of a claim! and when its sent via email/ internet , its not considered a physical copy. Honestly? i haven't  bothered to check if my boss is telling me porkies or not, i just do it and get paid.

It's just so surprising to hear a fax machine mentioned, I'm sure we haven't used them really in Europe for about 20 years.

Having said that, there is a thing here in Spain whereby if you need to send something official that's *really* important,  you send it by Burofax, I think it's so there is no denying it's actually been received, but that's rare and only really used for Govt docs, and I'm not certain it's a fax of old.

But yeah, getting paid is always the aim of the game!

Frustrating.

One of the many days, recently, where it's painfully obvious that no matter how much work and effort I put in the system is stacked in favour of people who are born into privilege.

Life shouldn't be made difficult.

May I kindly ask what you're referring to?

Oh, just the personal effort I'm having to make to progress my career when there are people who have been afforded financial support and freedom that privilege begets.

Free to those who can afford it and very n expensive to those that can't. Particularly in the arena of qualifications and resources.

Me and my son went to the Wave in Coventry yesterday. If you haven’t been I’d highly recommend it.

First time I’ve ever been to Coventry, and what an absolute dive.

Nearly went to this without a child last week but didn’t want to look like a paedo, my sister went with her kids the next day and said it’s good.

Teeing off soon for round 1 of our golf club championships. 125 have entered and only the top 30 qualify for tomorrows second round. Tense, nervous...

and I turned 50 today. Feeling proper old now
