Job interview this morning, better prospects more money and company car

Yeah banned permanently. Massive shame as he added a lot to the forum, whereas others who are still around don't.

Obviously no idea what he's been banned for but losing Matt and Alf (although not banned) will all but kill political discussion on the forum

Yeah, indeed the two events are related: The ban happened because of some things in the thread where Alf left.  Hopefully the ban gets rescinded eventually because as much as I tended to disagree with him (specifically on politics), and as much as he liked to revel in controversy, he also had a lot of interesting things to say and a tendency to provide links to support his argument which makes a huge change from a lot of the discussion on here.

 

I don't know why I'm talking in the past tense there, dude's still perfectly alive (as of a few days ago anyway).

Nice one.  I am waiting for details on a new role myself.  We agreed in principle, but not seen the numbers yet..
