Foxestalk - The influence over a Young lad

There's no point in going if you can't have a sense of humour
This is what it is all about, following your OWN club over the country, singing songs, making jokes, drinking beer and most of all uniting as one to support your club.

Next season is going to be one of the best ever.

Stunning.

Greenfox, hope you stick around on here and hope to meet you at an away game at a horrible ground next season!

Brilliant post mate, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Green fox....Encouraging a child to use profanity in public at the age of 11 is an ASBO waiting to happen. :)

I hope you're joking... an 11 year old is more that capable of understanding that a football game is a special environment where normal rules of verbal etiquette don't apply. At that age he probably knows more swear words than his Dad anyway.

And the Fantastic fan thing, i've been in the Citroen garage on a home game saturday afternoon, you wouldn't have known they were playing!!..

What's with all the negativity, chin up mate.

Greenfox, great post! My oldest, who've I've taken to a few games, is starting to understand what it's all about as well. My youngest still only goes for the hotdogs though, but give it time.

A wonderful post, brings back memories for most of us as kids I'm sure.

Well put!

I was born with hormonal problems. At child birth I sprung out with a full hairy chest and pubic hair, which technically meant I was never a really a child.

Excellent post, the player of the season for us this year has been the fans. We might have not even been able to win with 12 men at times, but our part was always brilliant and 100% committed. Can't wait to carry that into next season :D

awesome post.. that's what it's all about for me.. doesn't matter who takes the proverbial or how bad things seem, the feeling of passion and pride you get from following a team you truly support is second to none, it makes me quite sad to think that all the gloryhunting man utd/chelski supporters will never understand that..

another first-poster here too, reading this inspired me to join up so thanks again :)

Glory hunters haven't got a clue about passion. Most of them probably don't know their own "team's" first eleven. They follow a successful club because it is "trendy" and "cool", probably following their mates, and haven't got the balls to make their own decisions when deciding to support a football team.

Hope you enjoy your time on FoxesTalk, it's great fun :thumbup:

I'm such a twat. I got a bit of a lump in my throat reading that. This is what it's all about. All the effort is for this.
Haha. Same. I'm an emotional twat sometimes but that post was pretty bloody special.

Oh,so all of a sudden its trendy to be a twat is it???

Oh yeah half decent first post by the way!!!

:D

Great to hear that the lad still supports LCFC and not some joke franchise like Chelsea,Liverpool or Man U...RESPECT!

Yeah right Raj, I bet deep down you follow one of those clubs, wearing your Man Utd shirt under your Leicester top at Filbert Way. Come on now, own up? ;):D:thumbup:

Hi been reading Foxestalk for a while now & thought i would share this with you all.

The special moment came away at Shef utd a few weeks back , there i was with my 11 year old lad stood in front of what i believe is to be you fine chaps of Foxestalk who i have seen over various away games.

The 3rd goal goes in and is that despair starting to seep through the away end. But no instead of Despair singing was getting louder , jokes were getting funnier

As the game went on my lads face who is obsessed with the blue & white of our great Club & City started to smile , Amazing 3-0 down & he was seeing the true reason of why he was right to follow his old man & support his home town club instead of the lure of his mates & the Premier league wannabe fans.

When the shoes off chanting started he was in heaven & joined in with the chants & as his mum doesnt go to games ( well i have followed leics in 70's & 80's and women wernt allowed then ( nothing wrong with that now though) i allowed him to venture into mild obscence chanting its football different rules apply to outside the ground so why not he's a teenager in 18 months & he will know more words than me then.

Anyway after 90 mins scoreline still 3-0 but after a credible 2nd half performance we started filing out of the ground after the final whistle , even at 11 he knows you stay till the end.

Then it happened he looked up to me & said " Dad thats the best Leicester game i have ever been to, now he has been to many many games over the last 4 years including a few great victories, BUT he has realised following Leicester is about being with your mates or parents & enjoying yourself because no matter what other fans say about your team, You know that you dont care because they will never ever be lucky enough to be born in Leicester and be part of what is without doubt the greatest Club & fans in the Country.

That moment when he realised this at such a young age will stay with me for ever.....

And on Sunday when he cried when relegation was confirmed , within 10 mins i had convinced him that for us it matters not , still every Saturday we will get in the car & arrive amongst 2000 other Leicester fans in another City , the songs will still be there, the jokes will be funnier , More games as tickets are cheaper , Better pubs ,& still 11 players trying to carve out cult status to support, And we will have players who over the next 12 months will only be here because they want to play for Leicester.

To finish of my story & what inspired me to join today & donate a few pounds to Foxestalk is from a post i read on Monday regarding your proposed new flag.

It Was that 30 years ago when i was at school i remember the s##t i used to get from so called 80's Liverpool fans about supporting Leicester & i knew that some of the kids at my lads school in Wigston would try & wind him up .

The post i read was about your flag & the words we are on a league 1 tour for a year & every night this week he has come home & said about the grief he is getting & his reply was to them i dont care as we are on a league 1 tour and i will be going to every match what will you be doing on a saturday afternoon. and with that comment they have all shut up..

So to all of you , thanks for your high spirts at Shef Utd & thanks for the we're on a League 1 tour comment it has made my job as a dad to a 11 year old fan much easier & you know what the last 2 months has made him a Leicester Fan for life as i truly now know he has been encaptured by what it means & that is belonging to something very very special.

So stuff your 4 years of Championship we have had to endure , This next Season is going to be one of our greatest ever because the fans will stick together & enjoy the joy as so many have before of being a true Leicester fan & this time next year Rodney.......... we will be Champions.. because who cares about being millionaires

I salute you all........

Fantastic first post.

Welcome to the circus that is, Foxestalk.
