Manwell Pablo Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 June 7th.Russia were dire at Wembley last year. Only injuries and McClaren's ineptitude allowed them to get this far. It's quite an open tournament, with six or seven potential winners, but if Spain perform to their potential for once, they could well go all the way this year. You know nothing about the Russian team you proved this by predicting that our shower of shit would beat them, easily might I add, in Moscow. They were missing players at Wembley, a lot of players, and it was one game you can't base your opinion of a team on one game! Not that I think they'll get past the group stages but still.
Father Ted Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 It really is a wide open tournament. I hope Spain can do themselves justice, but the team who very rarely under-achieve is the sensible bet and that's the Germans. France have the talent to piss it though. The same counts for Spain. Like France have Ribery now, Benzema and Nasri but I think that they will come on in the next 2/4 years. The same with Spain who have Torres, Krkic, Villa and Fabregas, another couple of years.
C-man Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Group A 1 Portugal 2 Switzerland 3 Czech Republic 4 Turkey Group B 1 Germany 2 Croatia 3 Poland 4 Austria Group C 1 Italy 2 France 3 Holland 4 Romania Group D 1 Spain 2 Russia 3 Sweden 4 Greece Quarter-Finals Croatia to beat Portugal Germany to beat Switzerland Russia to beat Italy Spain to beat France Semi-Finals Croatia to beat Germany Russia to beat Spain Final Russia to beat Croatia.
Raj Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Any fcuker could win. Aint gonna change my fcuking life is it??? P.S Im going for Turkey!!!!
MC Prussian Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 For most BBC Sport pundits, it's a battle between Spain and Germany. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/e...008/7421737.stm
Finchy Posted 31 May 2008 Posted 31 May 2008 Portugal and Ronaldo to have a shyte tournament. France v Czech Republic final
shen Posted 31 May 2008 Posted 31 May 2008 The Netherlands looked good going forward the other day against Denmark. They kept possession brilliantly, and would've been 3 or 4-0 up at half time if it wasn't for woeful finishing. They looked a bit frail defensively though, and a bit of physical presence in the shape of Bendtner caused them all sorts of problems. The two centerbacks are quite weak aerially and will take a beating against the likes of Luca Toni. Maybe France will regret not having called up Trezeguet...
Koke Posted 31 May 2008 Posted 31 May 2008 Holland, England and Spain are the 3 biggest chokers in the world. Holland are not as bad as the other two, as sometimes they are there or thereabouts. Spain and England are the worst culprits. England are not taking part of this tinpot tournament, cos we dont want to. So Spain are carrying that tag and anybody who bets on Spain to win this shit is a fool. Just give me your money instead.

They might be 'chokers', but 2 quarter finals, 4 semi-finals, a third place, 2 finals and 1 title in major tournaments since 1974 is not too shabby for a country the size of the Netherlands.
breadandcheese Posted 1 June 2008 Posted 1 June 2008 Not really sure why Russia are rated so highly. They're an up and coming team but champions is beyond them. I personally think Spain and Sweden are stronger teams and will pip them in the group stages. This is particularly so with Arshavin suspended for the first two games. You can't look outside the strongest teams (Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Holland if they click into gear). Germany are probably the strongest team, with Spain threatening them, but I'm going for Portgual to win.

lildave3 Posted 1 June 2008 Posted 1 June 2008 So how the hell will Netherlands do any good Because they have Arjen Robben. God bless Arjen Robben.

And don't forget Greece in their group, who after all have put together a record run up to the Championships. At least it shows that they're a very robust outfit, and I wouldn't put it beyond them to knock Sweden and Russia out. Oh, and I think you got the Portugal prediction spot on So how the hell will Netherlands do any good Because they were a different class altogether to Denmark in the 1st half. Even though they did not qualify, the Danish side still has plenty of quality. To be fair, Bendtner had a blinder. He was everywhere and unrecognisable from his indifferent Arsenal performances. On another day, they would've scored a few more (Van Der Vaart was the main culprit) and if they play Ooijer in defense instead of e.g. Mathijssen (who I don't really rate), then they're going to be a solid outfit.
lildave3 Posted 1 June 2008 Posted 1 June 2008 Looking forward to watching Holland v Wales now. Hopefully the Dutch will go into the tournament with style.

Ultra Posted 1 June 2008 Posted 1 June 2008 Looking forward to watching Holland v Wales now.Hopefully the Dutch will go into the tournament with style. From what I saw they were hardly out of 2nd gear today. They'l find France and Italy to be a lot tougher..
lildave3 Posted 1 June 2008 Posted 1 June 2008 From what I saw they were hardly out of 2nd gear today. They'l find France and Italy to be a lot tougher.. At times they were quality. But like you say, France and Italy will be tougher. I think they'll do it though. France and Italy usually start slow and scrape through don't they? Well I can't see them both doing that with Holland around.
Sods Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 Looking forward to this to say the least. Still want the Dutch to win it. Will they get passed the French or Italians? God knows. I swear Holland are always put in the hardest group.
Jonezy Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 I believe the Germans will nick it. They have as usual a piss easy group and the easiest route to the final, and also a Ballack in top form. Italy are not hungry enough anymore, Spain will cock it up after playing the best football in the group stage, France got so much talent, but their coach have no clue how to handle it, Holland are not strong enough defensively, but the Portogese might have a chance againt za Germans in the semis, if Cristiano hits form for Portugal. Well, thats how I see it.
