It never ceases to amaze me how willing humans are to destroy their own environment.

Part and parcel of a pretty fundamental human weakness, unfortunately; that it is very hard to consider problematic situations beyond the individual line of sight and the empathy needed to solve them as other than abstract and therefore unimportant.

The path of short term self interest, ever at the cost of long term destruction, misery and even annihilation, is much easier.

Done herself harm more than anything. Utterly needless to drag Ian Wright into this and I am not surprised he is pissed off with it all.

Toilets for customer use only. Inhumane.

Unfortunately people take the piss (literally) and can be pretty vile in toilets, leaving a trail of destruction behind.

It's why councils refuse to keep spending endless amounts of money repairing them before they're destroyed again.

Why should businesses make their toilets open for all and sundry, exposing them to an even greater risk of them being trashed, the need to maintain them and, as a result, actual paying customers potentially being put off from using the establishment cos the public can't be trusted.

Of course paying customers might be as bad as the main wandering in off the street, and tbh I'd be in support of it being allowed if government or local authorities gave incentives to companies that keep them open, so the increased maintenance costs are absorbed.

Until then let private businesses operate as they wish.

It’s the lack of and closures of public conveniences that’s the problem

Disabled toilets that are locked when you're desperate and the able bodied toilets are either occupied or shut.

I can't understand why they lock disabled bogs which requires a "radar key" to get access, when we all have to go at some point, sometimes urgently.

That's inhumane.

It is. But it's also petty rule following culture. Like today I needed the toilet in a big shopping centre and I very politely asked the woman in the Costa I was right next to if I could use their one, a woman who could surely tell from my dress, pronunciation and general demeanour that I am not some kind of pee spraying, toilet roll unravelling oik. But no, customers only, and I had the choice of either buying one of their crap coffees, trekking at least ten minutes in this heat to the sole public toilets in an adjacent building and back again (assuming her directions were correct) or keeping it in and rejoining my girlfriend to look at clothes before we moved anyway to the next shop which was closer to said toilet. To which I chose the final option, meaning I of course ended up the bad guy because I wasn't concentrating on what my girlfriend was showing me.

Just go in and use it (unless they have a lockable toilet they provide a key for).

Because if disabled toilets were always unlocked I can guarantee they would be occupied by hundreds of able bodied people, mainly women. You always see a queue for women's toilets. They would soon abuse the disabled toilet. Making it increasingly more difficult for a disabled person to then go to the toilet.

Don't forget it's not just a toilet. It's a larger space for pad changing, bag changing and other necessities.

Keeping these toilets under lock and key so its strictly for the disabled is more than reasonable

As a parent of a severely disabled child it's one of very few 'luxuries' we get. No chance I could take my son into a regular toilet without prying eyes.

If anything having it under lock and key allows me to keep my sons humanity

That's fair enough and I get it from that aspect. I guess I hadn't given it wider consideration other than a personal priority in a difficult and embarrassing situation where I had no choice but to defecate in front of people because I couldn't access an unoccupied, locked toilet. And that was dehumanising for me.

It's not just about the space and associated facilities, which is unarguable. It's about the needs of all. Men's toilets aren't locked to keep women out and vice versa.

Having toilet facilities for the disabled is absolutely the right thing but to make a functioning toilet inaccessible to the majority for the sake of a minority is unfair and discriminatory.

The appropriation of 'rave' culture in America.

From an underground movement to pre-planned packages at things like Miami Ultra where everything is contrived so influencers can talk about 'rave moms' and totally miss the point of the actual movement.

So far from the Orbital parties. Sickening.

Of course not a nice experience but the majority of people do not experience that situation. It's very rare. So I would argue what is the minority in your scenario. The thousands of people who rely on these facilities every single day or the extreme situation of being that desperate for the toilet to the point of defecation ( I don't know your situation but most people do not leave it that late to use the toilet) and even being in that position all of the toilets aren't available.

So all disabled people should be discriminated against further over your 1 instance of (in your head) discrimination.

Tbf Miami ultra and Miami winter music conference is crazy. I doubt the YouTubers can capture it. The meaning of the term ‘rave’ like everything else evolves.

IBS. When you gotta go you gotta go and there can be very little warning.

It's only recently afflicted me and I'm still getting used to the signs.

However, I take your point about the rarity of being in that situation.

I'm the same with Ulcerative Colitis. Warning can be very limited and there's only a couple of times I can forcibly hold it in before it gets too much.

The handwringing over Kneecap is ****ing ridiculous.

They're punks, for as long as there's been punk, bands have said crass, offensive shit and it hasn't harmed anyone.

If they weren't Irish, nobody here would give a ****.

It is a great deal because of their political beliefs but also part of the moral panic here that societal problems are caused by problematic language in media and pop culture

The grossly overinflated housing market in the UK. Responsible for at least a fair bit of the stratification of society that those near the top of it are so keen on.

With the rising construction costs it becomes less inflated day by day.

In the North it has gotten to the point that the houses are worth less than they cost to build. This is causing havoc for the Social Housing providers as their funding is based upon the stock value of the housing once complete.

As we build more and more sprawling estates in lieu of decent housing within the city boundaries, the available land goes will reduce meaning its value also goes up.

I understand the sentiment but it's just a sad cultural shift. Raving is now seen as a santised cash grab.

Johnny Rotten shilling butter all over again.

Appreciate the insight from that angle.

Sounds like a problem with inequality of cost based on location meaning that it's worth building in one location and not in another, then?

Pretty much, it costs around £200k to build a regular 2-3 bed house, plus the land plus fees.

So you won't get one for less than £300k anywhere.

Furthermore, each time a new piece of legislation comes in to improve the environmental or safety credentials of construction, whilst positive, there is a cost attached to that. Also worth a mention that inflation effects houses as well and that runs at 3% ish per year. House prices have pretty much tracked the rate of inflation for the past 20 years.

Final point is that the average age of a tradesman is going up all the time. The average age on construction sites is over 45. Their salaries will increase above the rate of inflation, which is great that traditional working class roles are paid so well. It does mean that house price inflation will continue.

TLDR. They won't stop going up and ithe majority is not due to greedy developers.

Also at time when others have convicted for incitement to violence via tweets. Therefore people will draw comparisons and expect the law to be consistent

Hahahah phenomenal. If Tommy Robinson or an equivalent low IQ group of fringe losers said something as inciteful as this band, you’d be in a frothing rage. The only reason you don’t give a sh1t is because they’re Irish
