Ozwin Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 What can I say? It was simply brilliant, best film I've seen in such a long time, definately FOTY material imo. Heath Ledger, god bless his soul, stole the show. His portrail of The Joker was one of the best performances I've seen in, well, a long long long time. I tried to pick fault, in order to be fair and non biased, but I can't find anything that was bad. He was brilliant, and it's a damn shame he passed on, he could have been so much more. I could see him being the next Johnny Depp type of actor, he obviously had it to give. 9.5/10 is my final verdict. It may fluctuate as time goes on.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 I saw it on Wednesday, and I have to begrudgingly admit that Ledger's performance is absolutely outstanding, and the hype is pretty much justified, for once. The review on the BBC website reckons Christian Bale is better, and that Ledger is doing a 'look at me I'm ACTING' sort of performance, but I think that's harsh - he gets the mixture of comedy and scary weirdness absolutely spot on, to my mind. It's a great film - there's very little CGI and the whole thing feels very real, which you wouldn't expect from a super hero film. It's very intense, the drama never really lets up, and although it's well over two hours long it just flys by. I thought Batman Begins was ace, but this is even better

Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 My mate just sent an e mail about it - he went last night: Went to see Batman last night- it was wickedBale quality Heath was wicked as the joker I would have done the ending differently but the ending sets it up well What I love about the film is that it follows Frank Millers the Dark mnight returns really faithfully- sons of Batman and loads of questions of morality, justice and what is law and order- law for society and law for the people on the street whom batman has to take down. It was all filmed on 30mm film, first of its kind, and six of the action scenes were done with Imax cameras- its supposed to be wicked at the Imax- I think I will go watch I there again if anyone is up for it. All the supporting roles were good and I Batman does some really cool things with his new Batbike. Its long though – 2hours 40 mins or something though it needs to be that long. I just think that for the fanboy like me to see the comic book faithfully retold on the big screen is so wicked even down to how two face’s other face looks like I recommend it- I will give it 4.5 stars He f**king loves superhero films.

He loves films, particularly ones involving comic book characters. He's also a Spurs fan though and is utterly convinced before the start of every season that Spurs will break into the top 4. So his views are not always entirely rational.

mancunianfox Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Awesome film. I don't think there is much they can do to top the joker (other than Bane perhaps?) and I hope that they finally do a Batman vs Superman film because the ending of the Dark Knight sets it up perfectly.

It seems that he does a fantastic job playing the role of Joker, as many of your comments seem to be saying. In that case, I hope he gets the Oscar, if it is that good. Such a shame that a film in which he probably had his best appearance as a actor, could have contributed to his very untimely death.
