MikeyT Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 I don't like this at all.Why would this make any difference? Age/Height should not reflect how much respect a poster has or their right to their opinion. If he wants you to shut up...so what? Probably every poster has said/thought that about me at some point. So? I was saying i dont take crap from little boys of 16 and 17 trying to through their weight around. I wasnt referring to his height. I dont care if he's 7ft. If we are all allowed our opinions as you say why jump to his defence if we are speaking to each other, can he not fight his own battles. Its very cliquey on here sometimes! Anyway this is a board to discuss the Paul Dickov potential move. Should we not be discussing that instead of bitching at each other?
teblin Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 Mirror Paul Dickov has been offered a surprise return to Leicester by new boss Nigel Pearson.Dickov is a free agent after his Manchester City release and has also had offers from Blackpool and MLS side Toronto. But Pearson wants the 35-year-old striker - who left Leicester in 2004 after two years - to come back and help fire the Foxes out of League One. Lancs evening post Former Manchester City striker Paul Dickov is being linked with a return to Leciester City, despite an offer from Blackpool. The 35-year-old had been expected to accept Simon Grayson's offer of a new deal at Bloomfield Road after choosing not to join MLS side Toronto FC. He joined Blackpool on-loan in January and his six goals proved vital in the club's fight against relegation in the Coca Cola Championship. However, the Daily Star claims that new Leciester boss Nigel Pearson has given him the chance to move to the Walker's Stadium. He is expected to make his decision within the next couple of days
CupidStunt Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 blackpool it is then They got more strip joints....so me mate tells me anyways
Ric Flair Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 I must admit, since Taylor put us in the shit there haven't been many things to cheer about as a Leicester fan. But Dickov's tenure at Leicester was probably the most successful and consistent from any player we've had post the O'Neill era. I was angry he left us, after he said he would stay. But how many of you fookers have told your bosses you were happy in your job, and then jump at the first opportunity, probably for more money as well. The fact is Dickov, at 35, is still capable of scoring 15-20 goals at this level. He'll not play 46 games, which in a way isn't a bad thing as we have a young squad and it gives a chance to blood someone like Ashley Chambers, but not put undue pressure on him by requiring him to play every game either. His experience would be invaluable as I get the feeling Hayles and possibly N'Gotty will be shipped on if possible.

Anyway this is a board to discuss the Paul Dickov potential move. Should we not be discussing that instead of bitching at each other? Doesn't everyone find this a bit mad? Arguing over confusion over a joke? I made a (crap) joke. The leading man misunderstood that joke. Simple I don't thik that 'fighting your own battles' really applies, do you? I think 'battling' over a misunderstanding is probably what is wrong with the Country today! And, for the record, I am more than capable of fighting my own battles I just happened to be at the gym yesterday evening, pretending to do some excercise. And I'm still fooked this morning...

Anyway this is a board to discuss the Paul Dickov potential move. Should we not be discussing that instead of bitching at each other? Well because I'm 16 and I was wondering why it made a difference. How does being 16 and 17 mean we're 'little boys'? I can join the army and die for my country if I wanted to. You make it sound like I'm about 3. On the Paul Dickov issue, it won't happen and I don't want it to.
Thracian Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 We can't live on past glories forever. Signing Dickov would be a big mistake.Remember his goal against us was his first in the league for over TWO YEARS. It would be better to develop young strikers for the future rather than go back to hasbeens seeking one last payday. But he did score six in 11. I understand your concerns and agree with Dags that it would be great to find a younger option. But not only does the team need the front post options that Dickov offers but, even if people like Ashley Chambers/Billy McKay break through - and it's still early days - I don't think anyone can expect them to sustain the pace week in, week out at this stage. Indeed, most of our smaller strikers, Fryatt, Chambers, McKay, Campbell have had their injury problems and none would seem to be as tough, needly and battle hardened as Dickov. There are risks but not unacceptable ones. People don't usually question Dickov's effort on the pitch and I remember once saying how much we neded a specialist forwards coach and mentioning Tony Cottee. Surely Dickov's presence would at least demonstrate to the emerging strikers what other attributes they need to develop. Yes, he'll doubtless get eclipsed by others over time but I'd doubt it just now. The lads have some toughening up to do yet altough I was impressed with Ashley Chambers and if he stays injury free - a big if - he surely has the speed, ability and intelligence to make a challenge this year.
Jonezy Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 I do not want any more ageing players on their last contract, even though their names might be Paul Dickov....
Katy Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 This forum does drive me crackers sometimes. If you have an opinion that differs from the 'norm' then you get shouted down or ridiculed, OR, as I was the other day, get accused of being in an imaginary 'gang' led by TPH apparently that I know nothing about. I think I've agreed with TPH about three times on here since he joined Seriously though this forum isn't particularly welcoming to newcomers, I think some people should get their head out of their arses and see the bigger picture and get on with what we are here to do - support Leicester. I'm not saying we should all agree because that is ridiculous and would be quite dull but at least respect other people's views. PS I still don't like Dickov

Lets get back to the Dickov issue and not argue with one another. As you say, we are all here for one thing, and thats to support City as best we can. Ummmm, so yeah, i actually dont mind Dickov back here. I dont hold a grudge as some people do, but i can understand why that grudge is there. If he can score goals that will get us up the table, then i'm all for him back here.

Stevosevic Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 Yes please, still scored goals with Blackpool last year and could be just the man we need. So what if he left, we were relegated and he was offered the chance to play in the Premiership. He always put in a good shift for us and will show the passion we lack.

Imaginary gangs are so much better than real ones. I've not been on an internet forum yet that's particularly welcoming to newcomers, it's not unique to here. I personally find it quite invigorating to come into contact with people who enjoy an inflated sense of self importance because they've spent a lot of time on the internet. Anyway, back on topic. The whole Dickov-is-an-evil-dwarf thing completely passed me by at the time, even though I am naturally very suspicious of unusually small men. He said one thing and then did another - it happens. I accepted an offer of a cup of tea this morning, and then changed my mind - the wounds are still raw, but I think we'll get over it
The Stig Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 According to BBC Radio Leicester, City are trying to re-sign 35-year old striker Paul Dickov. The former City legend who was our top scorer during the season that we were promoted under Micky Adams is also supposedly being linked with Blackpool and FC Toronto. The Scot left the foxes bitterly for Blackburn in the summer of 2004 and scored the winner from the penalty spot against us in the following year in an FA Cup quarter-final clash at Ewood Park. The busy striker even scored the winner against us whilst on loan at Blackpool last season, late on in the game, to stick a dagger in the hearts, yet again of the travelling City faithful that made the trip to Bloomfield Road.

AyewJoking Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 The 5 so far have hardly been over the hill. Not what I was getting at.

The Stig Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 has anyone started a thread for Dickov yet? Yes your posting in it.
Daggers Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 If there's an imaginary gang, I want in. Imaginary gangs are so much better than real ones. Ha! Those of us in the imaginary super-secret inner-circle gang spit on your plain old imaginary gang.

I'm not surprised These 'talks do seem to be taking a while indeed, I hope he gets a better offer. In fact though, it might actually be funny seeing him crawl back here with his 'tail' between his legs.
Ric Flair Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 Not what I was getting at. Ok, care to enlighten me?
