They had his car cam and could hear him on it. He very clearly simply lost his temper.

Unsure why you'd think a whole trial couldn't work it out but you've figured better after briefly musing on a few details from the case.

Two points. Everybody loses their temper. But very few decide to mix hundreds of people over. The very act is proof the behaviour is abnormal.

Second point, you'd roughly put the offence on par with death by reckless driving dm or conspiracy to murder or manslaughter or attempted murder. All super serious offences. But rarely do they get 21 years.

The sentence has a media, public opinion, maybe even a Liverpool tax. It feels disproportionate. Particularly for a guilty plea

Hey well at least I know enough to know it didn’t go to trial 🙃

I agree to a point, however this is not causing death by reckless driving, nobody died.

It's not conspiracy to murder. There was no conspiracy as he was a solo operator.

It can't be attempted murder as there was no premeditation.

It can't be manslaughter as no one was killed.

IMO 21 years seems harsh given his outright guilty plea but, as you say, there could be some sentence weighting by the judge for the Liverpool "effect".

I wonder if there's a precedent for sentencing on a case like this.

Perhaps it was related to the number of victims. Also, the man had at least one previous conviction for assault.

Possibly. Maybe also the fact that he didn't stop after hitting the first couple of people and continued to plough on into the crowds with utter disregard for any injuries that his actions could inflict.

It's a difficult one, and without insight into sentencing considerations we, the regular Joe, can't really say if it's fair or not.

Likely so, but for me Miller stands out as someone who is a "true believer" in both racial and cultural superiority and appears perfectly happy to employ people to demonstrate that superiority through violence and oppression.

Yes he does have a Goebbels vibe about him. His wife is just as bad.

Jimmy kimmels takedown of him on last nights show was hilarious. Jimmy kimmel every night is hilarious. I watch his opening monologue every day (morning our time).

Language evolves

the twenty first century facist cant hold a candle to those from a 100 years ago.

So we need a new word for the facists of the first half of the 1900’s. Otherwise people compare apples and pears and as a example begin to speak about hitler in reasoned terms because ‘well if he’s a facist and trump is a facist then he can’t have been that bad’ .

I think we might want to wait a few decades to see the overall level of harm done before coming to that judgement, to be honest.

The unintentional irony of this comment is as staggering as it is hilarious.
