Simi Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Walked out of the Portsmouth game last night after being told by stewards to 'tone down' his ringing of the bell. He's been on Sky Sports News this morning and I agreed with everything he said. He talked about the ridiculous health and safety rulings that SAGS are bringing in now. Also why Rugby fans are allowed to stand during matches and not football fans, concert goers as well. After all he's given to Pompey with the drums and the bells, probably the first thing you think of when you talk about Pompey, I think it's disgraceful that he's been told to tone it down and he's been moved to a different area after complaints. Yet another ridiculous addition to the ever spiraling out of control game.

But sitting anywhere near him and that feckin' drum and bell would piss anyone off. But if you don't like it then I guess you could move?

filbertway Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 It wouldn't piss me off, therefore you are wrong. It would piss me off, that means our market research shows that 33% the people would enjoy it and 67% would dislike it. Stick that in your book of facts.
Tilley Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Thats like a steward telling Jobber to stop banging his drum. I don't blame him for walking out, absolutely ridiculous.
Bert Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Oh well. Remind me to get the violin out next time. He chose to walk out, didn't get thrown out.
Master Fox Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I'd probably smash that bell across his skull given the chance.
Durnerz Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Just another example of the state of the game and the jobsworths trying to turn stadiums into a library. I dont blame Mr Westwood for walking out.
Lovejoy Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 It would piss me off, that means our market research shows that 33% the people would enjoy it and 67% would dislike it. Stick that in your book of facts. Does that mean then that because 80% of fans at the Walkers every saturday don't sing means that everyone should be banned from singing. There's a reason why singers sit together! The point is If you didn't like it, there's plenty of other places to sit in the ground.
purpleronnie Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I'm sure the club see him as an embarrassment and not the image they want to sell to the public. They don't want noise, they want everyone to sit and enjoy the football, leaving 10 minutes before the end to go to the club shop to buy the latest replica tops. Its all about Image, Brand & money. Its got so much worse than I ever thought it would do, unfortunately we are in the minority, most are only too happy to sit in silence and obey any new stupid rule the club introduce. I have no idea why in England they have this attitude its very odd, but thats the way it is. If a similar thing happen in germany or france they would be mass protests and boycotts, if he decides not to go back, fans will moan but eventually move on and his seat will be snapped up by another face painter.
Fosse Boy Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 I know a Pompey fan who hates the guy, but that said he's a throwback to the days when football was a fun and passionate game to stand and watch. Sadly I'm too young to remember those days...

I just wouldn't want a bell ringing near me all game.
Corky Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 He looks a bit of a twat, but he's passionate about his club, and a bell wouldn't annoy me. You would get used to it after a while.
Raj Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Has he ever seen his dick? He is to pompey wht Bernie is to Leicester. P.S I bet he wouldnt have'walked out' if Pompey were winning huh????

General Smuts Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 He does have lovely hair though doesn't he.
Raj Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 He does have lovely hair though doesn't he. Not half as gorgeous as your hair, gorgeous. gorgeous Gay gen smuts. gaylord gorgeous.
davieG Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 In the past before the hooligans wrecked it for us people like him would have been able to walk around the ground ringing his bell so any intrusion, if that's how you see it would be temporary. In fact at half -time you could take a stroll around the running track at Filbo I often used to swap ends but that's when it was standing every where except the upper tiers of the main stand. Golden days of being a spectator.
Durnerz Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 It could be worse.....he could be Tim Westwood. You think a bell ringing all match is bad, try fake gunshot noises and outbursts of 'BAAAAYBEEEEE'.
Alexikokopops Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 It would piss me off, that means our market research shows that 33% the people would enjoy it and 67% would dislike it. I think the fact that filbertway is says a sample of 3 is a good size to draw any conclusions from suggests that the market research part of his post wasn't entirely serious.
Nationwider Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 He's been on telly a few times recently. It's sad that traditions like this are being pushed aside. It's probably very big indeed, but I would certainly not like to see his bell end.
