ozleicester Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Im really disappointed that we had to have this international weekend interrupt the team. With oldham and carlisle both winning we have slipped to third and maybe lost some of our momentum? Or maybe im wrong and the rest will do us good?
Corky Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 ****'s sake Pearson Seriously though, I am disappointed we aren't playing this weekend, but hey, we can take our frustration out on Millwall
Matt Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 International weekend - Shame we had it but we cannot do anything about it. 3rd? Is that the lowest we could have possibly dropped? I'm quite happy with that. Read something in The Sun today which made me laugh: Ah yes, an international weekend - the only thing more unpopular than Dennis Wise. :crylaugh: ...It's true.
Koke Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Isn't this just unnecessary? We got three players missing, two of them are starters and one is a bench player. And we couldn't cope without them? Andy King, Nicky Adams and Alexander Tunchev. Key players who are part of our empire, yes, but easily replaceable. Just sayin' yer know...

I agree, but as soon as they were called up the match was off, Pearson (quite rightly) wants a full-strength squad for every match. It is frustrating, but understandable.
The Blur Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 I don't think its a bad thing Extra rest might help us with our injuries and give Pearson more time to tweak our tactics and do more valuable work on them with the players in the training ground And by next saturday they should be chomping and eager to get back in action
Jonezy Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 When we postphoned the game, we were facing 4 away games in a row, so I guess that had an impact as well.
lcfcrinaldi Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 I cant see the point in the international break for us we only had 2-3 players away and they were hardly win or loose players, we have such strength in depth.
foss1884 Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Whinge, whine, blah, blah. Some people are never happy. It gave us an opportunity to rest the players and to consolidate on what we have achieved on the training ground. The team i am sure are focused on their own efforts and not that of Oldham or Carlisle. I am happy being in third with a game in hand. It could be a lot worse, so cheer up those misery guts out there. I am quietely content until next Saturday where i am sure we will pick up where we left off.
Thracian Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 There are pro's and cons but and I think there was great risk in conceding our place at the top and having to rely on a game in hand to make up the deficit. But, on balance, missing those three players would have caused difficulties because we'd have been woefully short of cover in defence and central midfield in the event of injuries. I don't think rest comes into it. Why would players at the top of the League need to rest at this stage? They've barely got going, will be eager for every game and the last thing they'll have wanted was to stop. Indeed most times we've stopped in recent seasons we've had injuries straight afterwards. But seeing it was an away game and Pearson might have been criticised had, say, one of the backline been injured, I'm happy that the logical and professional decision was to postpone and wait til we've got our best side available. That doesn't mean we might not regret it of course.

I dont really care tbh as were playing like champions
moseeds Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 6 points off the relegation zone. I can't face another relegation battle
Rodderz Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 it has dissapointed me but hey we have got a game in hand lets just hope we get the 3 points
Nugent Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 We only need the 3 points to go back to top spot.
fox123 Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Does that mean oldham are top on goal diference
Unabomber Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Does that mean oldham are top on point goal diference 3 points ahead of us.
Guest Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 3 points ahead of us. Yeah but they are top on goal difference
Unabomber Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Yeah but they are top on goal difference Ah yeah I see.
fox123 Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 3 points ahead of us. It was actually said in jest, at something DavieG said last week!
