The People's Hero Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Julian Joachim, Steve Thompson and later... Scott Taylor.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Steve Thompson -> Walshy -> Scotty Taylor/Parker -> Elliott/Izzet......... in some sort of chronological order, then after that I can't say I have one!
Monk Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Julian Joachim, hands down. He made us so exciting to watch.
Suffolk_fox Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 alan young Made for quite a Goalie! I am amazed that only one other has said Gary Lineker! He started in our first team in the same season I started supporting Citeh - it wasn't pretty watching the long ball, but hell could he out run defences!
wirralsimon Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 keith weller r.i.p. He was one of my early favourites too! My first trips to Leicester were in the golden era of Weller, Worthingon, Glover, Rofe, Cross, Shilton, Sammels etc. I am sure players are fitter and better trained now, but it was a great era for leicester City. Graham Cross played for Leicester City in the winter and Leicestershire Cricket Club in the summer, which could never happen now! Simon
Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 I had a few favourites when I first started going down Filbo properly. I could never decide between Ali Mauchlin and Gary Mac. I liked Alan Parris simply 'cus we called him Delbert (I went for a pie at Man City and missed the penalty he gave away!!) I also like Draper. My first true favourite though, was Ooh Tommy Wright. I cut one of me mams bed sheets up and glued(!) and sewn Ooh Tommy Wright onto a flag for the Wembly final.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 MUZZY all most blew my load when i got my picture taken with him
OzFox Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Weller/Worthington/Whitworth '74/75 Must be the last time we had three England internationals
CosbehFox Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Joachim! I've always had a thing for scruffy, gambling addicts!
iancognito Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Probably Tommy Wright, the 91/92 season he was fcuking unstoppable! I'd liked players like David Kelly before that (there was also a guy the season before called Peter Weir who had talent but never quite got on with Pleat's 'style') but Tommy was absolute dynamite. I still remember Brian Little's quote from the end of that season "We need to build from here with fresh faces. There will be a few departures from the squad too and one or two may cause a surprise" Too bastard right. Our best player was robbed to become a reserve at Middlesbrough! Little's teams were all kick & rush after that and the rest is history.
Fosse Boy Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 steve guppy! quality! :scarf: :scarf: He was always too good for England. Without doubt my childhood hero!
demon_dog Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Frank Worthington, Keith Weller and Peter Shilton.
teblin Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Alan Paris, not sure why but remember it being him.
mr wallington Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Mark Wallington (obviously) - penalty saver extraordinaire. Closely followed by Jim Melrose who, to my 6-year-old eyes, was the most ginger person I'd ever seen.
martyn Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Nice to see some Steve Thompson love in here, I always felt that with an extra yard of pace he could have been a top quality player....loved the way he used to spread the play with a cheeky cruyff turn in the centre circle before pinging an inch perfect pass out to the winger. Joachim was great as well.
dhermon Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Arnar Gunnlaugsson and closely followed by Pegguy Arphexad was a cup game on tv which we won 1-0 from memory was great to finally put names to faces
Brenfox Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Mike Newell. Remember him & Jari Rantanen forming an awesome strike force for about 2 games. Also remember missing big Mike getting 2 goals at home to Stoke because i was in a car accident on the way to the ground.
