In reference to how long Tunchev could be out...

"This largely depends on your surgeon or physiotherapists approach to rehabilitation. Some therapists advocate an accelerated rehabilitation programme returning the athlete to full competition within 6 months, others prefer a 9 month rehabilitation period."

Obviously this is for the complete tearing/ripping of the anterior cruciate ligament but Tunchev will still need about the same amount of time to heal the partially torn one.

It's a big BIG disappointment BUT there is a silver lining to this as it'll mean he won't be back before the end of the season... meaning clubs won't want to buy him over summer as they won't have seen him play for ages and we therefore should have him for the start of next season too! :)

You roll back the years and this is exactly what happened when we had Kaamark.

Both quality players, both suffering long injury setbacks, but coming back stronger than ever.

The timing of it though couldn't be better, NP has the time to bring in someone on loan, or someone who could do a job in the championship next season from this great footballing league :giggle: we are in.

Putting LBs/RBs in CB roles doesn't work, although you might pull it off in this league. It's best not to experiment though, we just need some cover in and fast.

Tunchev has my vote for player of the season at any rate.

Awful news. :(

Losing our best defender is bound to have an effect, hopefully we can cope without him and carry on to gain automatic promotion.

Oh bloody hell

Mikey jus' told me about it :frusty:

hopefully we'll get someone decent in or Morrison steps upto the plate, no pressure :sweating:

We'll still win the league

I have all confidence in Jack Hobbs and Michael Morrison. This is just a minor glich.

Tunch will be there last game off the season, knowing he has done his bit. Up the City!

Yes it's bad news, but, we will still go up IMHO and I'm sure we'll get somebody in !!

The one good thing about this is that Pearson has the opportunity to mend what it a huge great tear in the centre of our team.

Hobbs sounds confident and Morrison will doubtless relish the challenge but we simply have to have someone with the calm authority to use the ball constructively from defence.

If, that is, the last four years have taught us anything.

Otherwise I fear it will not be just Tunchev who's out, but people like King, Oakley and Davies will be missed out by the ball being hoofed over their heads.

Get well soon Tunch.

Hopefully next time you play for us we will be in the Championship.

The first half of the season has been a joy to watch the lad.

This is gutting news, it was pretty obvious on Wed that it was a serious injury, hes goin to be missed this season. At least we have Morrison and Hobbs as they are both playing really well, but Tunchevs calming influence will be seriously missed.

The only plus point is that he should be with us next season, as i think afew clubs would've come in for him in the summer (i suppose they still could if hes fit by then)

Tunchev is one of the best defenders ive seen play for Leicester, i hope when hes back we will be in the championship and he will be as good as hes been in league 1.

I agree - If there's a small positive to take out of this is the fact that he'll stay with us when/if we go up.

As important as Tunchev is, I do think we'll cope without him. As Dan said earlier, if we worry about promotion without Tunch then we should seriously consider our promotional credentials.

Kareem, you speak far too much sense.

Yeah, i do think we will cope without him, but its ashame especially for him.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned - lets face it, Tunchev is the best player in this league by a distance, and at the time it was obviously a fairly serious knee injury. Morrison and Hobbs are both good young players, but in Tunchev they have a lot to live up to.

gutted why do we always get our best players with these serious knee injurys never hear of other clubs getting injurys like we seem to get them maybe something wrong in the way they warm up for a game

get well soon tunch you will be sorely mised

its a blow, he certainly commanded our defence and he will be missed, ....but! we have a team that fully capable of winning this league by a country mile and when you have a team like that it never just revolves around one man. we have morrison and hobbs who are the obvious choices and we have a transfer window to get in either cover or a straight replacment. on top of that we also have powell who has immense experience and can cover at center back, add to all of that we also have proberbly the most astute manger in the league who has turned this side into what they are now. have some faith its all gonna be fine. :city:

Understand what you are saying. But don't agree with it.

THere's nothing wrong with the way they warm up. These things happen. And Tunchev's knee injury is just unlucky. Other clubs do have serious injuries to their players, Beckford was out for two months for Leeds, Torres was out for Liverpool for ages.

It is unfortunate. But you just have to get on with it. I'm gutted and disappointed that we have lost our best player (one of), but we will cope and we are still on course for promotion.

Tunchev could become player of the season without playing the last half. Immense contribution in a position that was potentially our weakest.

These injuries seem less career threatening and part of the modern game. It was interesting that it was done on a hard pitch away from home. The clubs prepare their pitches to suit the team but must have erred here because Moses was injured as well.

It would be great to see him fit for the first game of next season.

Given we have a supposedly 'big' squad, there is plenty of concern on here for Tunchev's potential replacement.

Its injuries like this that expose our weaknesses. If Hobbs has a lot to learn, where does that leave Morrison? As already posted, this partnership will take time, and could cost us valuable results in the run-in to the end of the season.

Our away form, in relation to clean sheets, leaves something to be desired. We may have to rely on Fryatt to maintain his 'exceptional' form and bang in enough goals to counter-act what happens at the back.

I fear a return to 2007/08 tactics if Kisnorbo steps into the side, and cannot think of anyone else in our current 'big' squad who would provide ample cover.

I appeal to Nigel Pearson to consider using the remainder of the transfer window (or loan signing oppertunities) to the best of his abilities and ensure our back four are able to cope with what's thrown at them.
