Like you said who gives a shit. I own an Argentinean football shirt and get stick for it but I couldn't care less and still wear it. It was a souvenir from Argentina.

I love my Argentina shirt. I bet you can't guess who's name I have printed on the back?... :)

Solid performance from United. A wondergoal from Ronaldo then a very good defensive display. Just what it takes to be European champions...

Kempes?

Ahhh... El Matador... Legend.

But no, it isn't his name.

On to tonight, I have to say that Ronaldo's goal was special, worthy of winning any game.

Well done to United and Arsenal tonight. Looking forward to that semi final.

United are such an unentertaining Champions League team to watch if you're a neutral. Very effective though, got to admit. Absolutely brilliant goal from Ronaldo, followed by a solid defensive display to keep Porto relatively quiet.

Man Utd - Barca final I think.

This has been one of the best knockout stages for years. Bring on the next five games!

Hopefully they'll live up to expectations.

Arsenal are at home to United on the 5th of May.

Chelsea at home to Barca on the 6th.

Return legs are 3 weeks later.

Good man, they are sexy.

Im guessing you have messi

Ive always been fond of Argentina as Batistuta was my favourite player when growing up.

Always wanted one of those Nintendo Fiorentina kits with Batistuta on the back.

Not denying the quality of the football and some of the matches are very entertaining (for example Chelsea-Pool), but the Champions League is fast becoming as predictable as the Premiershit.

THREE english clubs in the semi's for THREE years running. 5 consecutive years with an English club in the final. They may aswell sack off the group stage and go to the last eight with the 4 english clubs, Barca, Bayern, Lyon and one other. Either that or go to a straight knock out competition.

Personally, I think a straight knockout competition with 32/64 teams would give teams a much better chance of competing with the likes of United and Chelsea.

At the moment, it's all one big yawn.

Agree with the C-Man really.

While everyone's having a big wank fest about how good English football is or how much Britain's dominating sport because of this I personally just find it really boring.

I had this moan a lot last year, too. I don't get why anyone would want to see 3 English teams in the semis. I know the Liverpool - Chelsea game was good but generally we can watch English teams play each other in our domestic competitions at any time.

Why would we want to see it AGAIN in the Champions League?

I strongly believe there should be less representitives from the strongest countries, really. Takes the fun and variation out of it.

Yes. Nail. Head.

I want to know how this all benefits English football as well. Great for the clubs, but it's not reflected in international football, where England will no doubt fail again at the World Cup. It's all about the money these days.

Well Arsenal are through. I hope United batter them, if they hold on tonight.

:)

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you there Nathan

Totally agree with both points, English football is the strongest in the world at the moment and that I can't deny, money talks in football and the money is over here, I personally find it boring to a certain degree though, I love to see a team that has developed it's youth and built a team up and then gone onto compete. The top four here can throw money at who they like, Kaka (the shining light of football) being the exception.

I think it would be interesting if they brought this home grown rule in, the English clubs would struggle big time, hardly any English players featured in the last couple of rounds which is a shame for the youth in this country. The premier league is predictable as ever too, I hope someone can break the mould next time round, it would certainly perk it up a little.

For now, I will get back to the worst league in world football La Liga and wonder where it all went wrong. :giggle:

Something I have always said but seems to be overlooked, this is why I am not as passionate about England these days, the youth system is all wrong, they don't get a chance like they do abroad.

Ah well, at least we can sing some great songs, we can get caught up in the media hype and we can see the 1966 world cup final yet again.

Never a penalty that, never!

Not that it makes any difference. It is just shocking from the ref.

The challenge was right in front of where I was sitting, looked like he got the ball first. Sending off was funny though. Arsenal were VERY strong last night.

Arsenal were great last night. The atmosphere seemed pretty good too, I know there have been a lot of moans about the atmosphere at the emirates.

Glad you enjoyed the game.

I reckon the name of the competition gives away who should actually be allowed to enter it

That as well. It makes me laugh that when the competition involved just league champions, it was known as the European Cup. As soon as it becomes Champions League, it's opened up to Europe's big teams, regardless of league performance to an extent.

I agree about the need for a change.

If they don't change it to a knockout, get rid of seedings. Let everyone have a chance of playing each other in the first round. Might liven things up early on.

Yes it's good for those clubs, but not English football. The money doesn't help lower-league or even lower Premier League clubs, and not even the England team.

Really hoping for a Barca v Arsenal final. But I have a feeling Man Utd will win by a couple of goals at OT, and Arsenal won't have enough to beat them by enough at the Emirates.

Think Barcelona will be too strong for Chelsea. If Barca can get the damage done in the first leg like they did against Bayern, I think they should be alright.
