Babylon Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Agreed, but enthusiasm doesn't cross the ball to another Leicester player You're preaching to the converted, whilst I completely agree with anyone saying he's worth having here to come on from the bench. Some people seem to have built him up to be something he actually isn't, yes he might not be any worse than what we already have... but my point has always been he isn't as good (yet) as some are making out.
General Smuts Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Anyone got change for a 20 so i can pay the taxi driver his fare out of Leicester?
Babylon Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 We brought him back because they had used all there loans up on him didn't we, it's got to the stage where it's buy or nothing. He could actually go back on a season long loan.
Simi Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Plenty of discussion already happening in the main forum. Link.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 He could actually go back on a season long loan. Oh ok you're most likely to be right, I thought he'd reached a limit for loans but obviously I'm wrong.
Babylon Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Oh ok you're most likely to be right, I thought he'd reached a limit for loans but obviously I'm wrong. It's either a season long or a permanent transfer... it's no more short term emergency loans... that's how I understand it anyway.
CosbehFox Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 I am no supporter of Gradel but basically the lad wants to play football and can't see it happening here. Can't really blame him.
hackneyfox Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 How do you know Gradel will do nothing at this level? Do you have a crystal ball? As for Solano being the missing ingredient, then you must have a completely different view to me as to what the missing ingredient is.We brought him back because they had used all there loans up on him didn't we, it's got to the stage where it's buy or nothing. He was excluded from the start of the season, having contributed to our promotion he got completely left out of squads in favour of League 2 man Dany N'Guessan and League 2 man Nicky Adams. He wasn't given one sodding chance. "We are too dependant on players who were successful in the third division but are still way short of handling The Championship on a weekly basis, and it shows." : Yes it does show, how does 7th place grab you? Jesus, you get huffy easily don't you? I could ask the same, how do YOU know that Solano won't be a massive success at this level? As Babylon said, they could have him on a season loan. He is League 2 as well as N'Guessan & Adams. How does 7th grab you? Well not as well as 3rd does actually, and have you not noticed how we aren't playing as well recently, perhaps because sides have got us sussed? Perhaps because we aren't as good as some people on here think we are and we need to add to the squad with players that have experience and football skills (which we are woefully short of). As for missing ingredients, well for me it is having someone (like Taylor hopefully) who can pass the ball out of defence thus starting to play football from the back. Then having someone in the midfield who can actually put a good cross/corner/free kick in for the likes of Howard or Kermogant. What is your missing ingredient then?
Shrenchel Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 I am no supporter of Gradel but basically the lad wants to play football and can't see it happening here. Can't really blame him. I'm sure if playing football was his main concern he'd choose to go to a club that brings him on before 75 minutes.
Ric Flair Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Fook me, i'm going to have to change my signature at the bottom at some point.

The minutes he's getting at Leeds are more than he's getting here. Also, here's put himself in the shop window at Leeds if his agent does some groundwork maybe they are hoping for someone to take a punt on him.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Hopefully we can get around 300-400K for him.
lcfcsnow Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Quite sad that Pearson has driven him to this.
lou Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Fook me, i'm going to have to change my signature at the bottom at some point. Thats what I was thinking too!

I get huffy when people make assumptions about how someone would cope having not played a single game in this league. I've never once said Solano wouldn't be a success, but I'd rather have Gradel here who has potential and can stay around for years than have an ageing Solano who will be here for 6 months and leave a gap to fill in the summer. People on here constantly say they want to stay behind in this division and gradually build and grow a squad, how on earth is alienating players like Gradel and bringing in players like Solano going to help that? We have no divine right to be 3rd, or even 7th, everyone deserves where they are. I wouldn't say we've been sussed, it's just a few wins and draws we snatched in the early season are not falling for us. My missing ingredient is pace and energy, someone to get opposition defenders running backwards, someone to invigorate the team. A Waghorn for the wing if you like, and in my opinion Gradel fits that bill 100% more than Solano.
Leicfox Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Hopefully we can get around 300-400K for him. Can't see that tbh. More likely 150k upfront with add-ons.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 To be honest, if he has handed in a transfer request to try and force a move to Leeds, he's a proper stupid little cunt. He was basically used there how he would be here this season, 15 minute cameos here and there. A bit-part player because of his hot and cold nature and potential for impact. Fair play to the kid if he wants to go to a club where he'd be a guaranteed starter, he loves playing football and if that's his motive and goal I'll hold nothing against him. If he wants to move to a club where he'd be a bench player for a bigger pay-packet because things are a bit difficult for him here and he isn't getting everything his own way, he can fuck himself.

I have never rated Maxi that highly, he did well for us last season but was far from being player of the season. Leeds don't play him regularly. Pearson knows him a lot better than anyone on this board and if he decides that he isn't yet good enough for this division then I don't see why any of us should conclude otherwise. Pace and energy are good, but you need a final product, crosses. And Leeds have not been playing him as a winger this season.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Can't see that tbh. More likely 150k upfront with add-ons. Though I think you're right I'd want to see more than that especially as he does have potential. Anything less than a overall package of about 350K would annoy me.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Actually, scrap my last post. Maxi Gradel became a fan of Ultras on Facebook. The guy is a hero.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 He was basically used there how he would be here this season, 15 minute cameos here and there. That's not true though is it, before Gradel went on loan he wasn't even in our matchday squads, never mind making it onto the pitch as a sub. 15 minutes here or there at Leeds is far far better than playing reserve football for us.
hackneyfox Posted 22 January 2010 Posted 22 January 2010 Quite sad that Pearson has driven him to this. What a ridiculous comment. What would you like Pearson to do, play players because a few people on Foxes Talk like them. He's the manager, he calls the shots, and he gets sacked if it doesn't work. And I'll reiterate AGAIN: Pearson denied Leeds a loan to the end of the season Pearson said he likes Maxi Pearson said he thinks he has potential. Pearson probably sent him on loan to help realise that potential. The only person responsible for Gradel putting in a transfer request is Gradel, probably with a bit of help from his agent and Grayson.
