Bryn Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 In hindsight I feel bringing in Gallagher for about a mil and letting Gradel go for less than a quarter of a mil is bad business, but we've got Gallagher etc. now and we obviously aren't going to involve Max so we may as well move him on. I agree with Daggers though, Leeds definitely have more money than they're letting on, we should be look at more than £200k whether he's worth it or not.
kirkwood Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I expect Milan will accept the £200k. It might just be enough to settle his alleged debts with Her Majesty's Vultures.
Daggers Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 That remains my all-time favourite moment in LCFC history, even above play-off and League Cup wins. Very strange and I can barely explain it myself but it's true. Howard's header against Leeds? I swear the stadium moved three inches into the air as everyone headed it with him in unison. And then exploded.
lou Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Talks ongoing according to my "in the know" Leeds m8. Its practically a done deal he reckons, Maxi wants it and MM wants the money, only sticking point is Leeds need to offload Beckford. A "steal" at 200k is his opinion.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Howard's header against Leeds?I swear the stadium moved three inches into the air as everyone headed it with him in unison. And then exploded. Was great, yeah. Amazing moment. Gives me goosebumps even now, hearing the Temper Trap song which was on the Sky advert where they had the Howard celebration on. You could name a load of even more obvious examples too, like Walsh v Arsenal and Claridge v Palace. All great moments but still that Gradel goal meant more to me for various reasons, despite it being relatively insignificant.
Maybes Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 If the club accept this 200K bid, that would be very poor business. He's been a little gem for them while out on loan. We should be asking for at least 500K!!!
lou Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'll miss him if/when he goes. He'll always be remembered for that MK Dons away goal for me, and many others no doubt. You said it. That remains my all-time favourite moment in LCFC history, even above play-off and League Cup wins. Very strange and I can barely explain it myself but it's true. Really wish it had worked out here for the little fella, but que sera sera. I have a real affection for this lad as a player, I just dont want him to leave. Been watching him play since he was a kid with the academy and hes always stood out as a person who genuinely cared for his team and his club, always put his heart and soul in every minute. I am totally gutted he looks like leaving us
davieG Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 No i dont, i think he is much better. And Yes, it WILL come back to haunt us and no i dont think its a fee thats indicitive of his potential. But you are missing the point - you have to be realistic Yes it very well does matter actually. He has no champioinship experience, has started just a couple of games for Leeds this season and been on the subs bench will hardly be on a big contract as he hasnt been a first team regular EVER in his short career. Whats he actually achieved in football? Lets face it, If we can get Hobbs who has all the potential to be a very good prem player ( who held down regular place in the 1st division last season) for 400k then what right to we have to expect more for Gradel? Not saying i like it one bit.. but hey ho... I don't know how lucrative his contract is but it says something that his initial 3 year contract was extended by Pearson by a year before the first year had been completed and runs until June 2012 - surely worth something decent?

Been watching him play since he was a kid with the academy and hes always stood out as a person who genuinely cared for his team and his club, always put his heart and soul in every minute. I am totally gutted he looks like leaving us But have we (The Club) always genuinely cared for him? Obviously if we have other players, who are preferred, it's a shame and unfortunatly he won't get in the team, so we will respect his wishes and let him go on loan, however the little soundbites of what i've read for KIA - Who's information is usually good, doesn't sound like NP has respected him too much, That's not slagging NP off, but perhaps from what Maxi was told by NP and Maxi has realised that his future doesn't lie here, on the other hand as DavieG has pointed out NP renewed his contract 1 year into a 3 year deal. It's a shame, and as already said £200k is a joke.
martyn Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I thought we were supposed to have rejected bids well in excess of 200k previously for Gradel?
BoneDog Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Two hundred thousand pounds? He's worth more than that pisser

davieG Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 From today's Merc One player who looks like staying at the Walkers Stadium is Max Gradel.Pearson has confirmed the winger will return to City when his loan spell at Leeds ends on Monday. Leeds boss Simon Grayson would like to engineer a permanent move for the Ivorian, but Pearson told the Mercury in November that the player was not in sale. He reiterated that yesterday and said: "I've made the decision. It's no different to what I said weeks ago. His loan's up and he's coming back."
Jimmy Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 great news, now he's fit Pearson might be more willing to throw him in, or at least give him the same role he had at Leeds as an impact sub to change things when its not quite working. does beg the question though, who is the play Stringer said is leaving
Sir Fynwy Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Maybe we should give the club and Max some credit for having a plan and some loyalty. City helped Max by loaning him to a south coast club when he needed to be near his family and just possibly NP has decided this season to get him some more first team experience and fitness at the biggest club in the league below us before throwing him into our team.

Presuming NP sticks with the same team as of late, our bench is gonna look pretty tasty!!! 30 minutes to go and we bring on Big Danny and Max... i'll have some of that. Time will tell, otherwise he will rotting on the bench!! Well he was happy doing that at Leeds.

He got far more action then he did at city though!!!
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 It would be great if this is true that he is coming back for good. Just hope he gets the chance for some game time to show what he can do. His record for Leeds this season is very good and his ability to change a game could be key for the rest of the season maybe the difference between mid-table and a play-off place.
Zingari Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 He got far more action then he did at city though!!! I got more action in Leeds than I did in Leicester though
lou Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 I got more action in Leeds than I did in Leicester though Leeds birds arent the least bit choosy!
