iancognito Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 N'Guessan - 7.5 Anonymous for alot of the game but what a cross for the equalizer Everyone has an opinion but are you sure about this? He didn't get much of the ball in the first ten minutes but after that their right back had kittens every time he Dany had the ball at his feet, showed some great touches I thought. Just an opinion though.
Pst Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 Everyone has an opinion but are you sure about this? He didn't get much of the ball in the first ten minutes but after that their right back had kittens every time he Dany had the ball at his feet, showed some great touches I thought. Just an opinion though. He did play well, but you must admit he did drift out of the game for a while before getting back into it again. Maybe I was a tad harsh..
shen Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 TV Weale 7 - Didn't have much to do thanks to a sterling performance by the other ten men in front. Commanding at the back and never looked troubled. Couldn't do anything about the goal, but the saves he did have to do were outstanding. Flawless performance, and if he was playing for a Premier League side, he'd be in Englands next squad. Neilson 7 - Only got caught out once, which cost him a booking, but other than that a very solid performance. So often made himself available when we got forward and covered a lot of ground tonight. Even made a decent cross that found Waggy in the first half Hobbs 7,5 - Was a rock tonight and even had an audacious attempt at goal first half. Almost gifted a chance first half when he got caught out in his own box, but that was just a minor stain on a very good performance. Brown 8 - Absolutely outstanding. Everything was repelled and even when confronted with pace, he stayed on his feet and kept it tight. Berner 7 - He was up against a very good player tonight and bar the first 20 minutes and the only real chance they created in the second half, he kept Routledge very quiet. His defensive duties limited the support he could offer N'Guessan, but nevertheless like Neilson he made himself available. Oakley 7,5 - Was full of running and put in some very good tackles today, especially the one on Routledge that broke down a potentially dangerous counterattack. Looked a very eager and determined captain tonight and offered decent support to our front men too. Booking and the mixup for their goal was the only blemish tonight. King 7,5 - Time and again he broke up their attacks and played some simple stuff that got us going. Provided some great through balls as well. Got caught out for their goal and was generally tormented by Buzsaky and especially Taarabt in the first half, but he got the last laugh with an outstanding performance in the second Wellens 8,5 - What a classy player he is. Excellent when in possession tonight and sprayed some great balls around today. Excellent display and my man of the match. N'Guessan 8 - Was a menace throughout the game and kept the width of the team excellently. It would have been relatively easy for QPR to defend against us if he wasn't in the side as they could've tucked in the fullbacks to keep Waggy and Fryatt quiet. Great crosses for the goal and for Waggy second half (with his left peg as well). Some very good hold up play. Hopefully he'll keep this up and nail that left wing spot. Looks suspect defensively, but with Wellens/Oakley/King covering it wasn't necessary today. Fryatt 8 - Clinical and hardworking. Was constantly snapping at the heels of the QPR defenders. He looked a real handful and his all-round play looked very good. It looks like he and Waghorn could strike up a great partnership. Hopefully they'll get more chances together. Could and should've had a hattrick today had the ref given the stonewall peno right after his second goal. Waghorn 7,5 - Great display that had everything. Unfortunately, the linesman deemed his goal offside. Did lack a bit in his finishing and delivery form the flanks and was unlucky not to get a heavier touch on N'Guessans cross. Other than that he was brilliant. Held up the ball, made some classy first touches, showed pace, determination and skill. Hopefully we can keep his talents at the club beyond January! Subs: Gallagher 6 - Added some solidity and kept the ball well, dropping deep to give the team another outlet. Contributed to an excellent defensive display. McGivern N/A - Didn't get much action but almost forced another mistake from Cerny. Pearson 9,5 - Bar his somewhat odd formation changes in the beginning, he absolutely nailed it today. Tactics and motivation was flawless, and his substitutions were well timed. He oozes confidence and that so clearly rubs off on the players. We have a real gem here!
James. Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 Weale 9 - I started a thread about him because I loved him and tonight yet again he showed why. Awesone. Neilson 8 - contributed to attacks and was solid in defence. Brown 9 - HE'LL BREAK YOUR FUCKING LEGS. Hobbs 8 - superb alongside Brown. Berner 9 - one of the classiest players we have, awesome, awesome performance. Oakley 8 - put in some fantastic tackles and was busy all night. King 8 - looks like he's really growing into this role, so important to our overall performance. Wellens 9 - all action, properly dominated the second half. N'Guessan 7 - didn't track back all the time but bollocks am I gonna get negative, he caused a lot of problems down the wing. Fryatt 9 - some people were saying drop him. FAIL. Brilliant performance, well taken brace. Waghorn 9 - literally ran himself into the ground. Sign him up. ----- Gallagher 8 - looked classy and got involved well. McGivern - didn't do much wrong. ----- Pearson 10 - ONLY ONE NIGEL PEARSON. Fans 10 - brilliant ----- Don't give a shit if those marks look over the top, the adrenaline is the second half was unbelievable. And I've got the bruised shins to prove it. Brilliant.

maddog Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 This was by far the greatest Championship performance we have given this decade. To come against a side who have scored 12 goals in their last 3 games, and defend so billiantly to stop so many of their attacks, and attack so brilliantly to create loads of chances with real slick, quality, world class football and win the game is just epic. Fabio Capello will think we are amazing now. Could he solve his goalkeeping dilemma by calling up Chris Weale IM JOKING! We have never created so many chances as that against such a good side, and defended as well as that, and some of the football was incredible, and every team in the world would have been proud to play it that way at times. The moves were sublime. Passing. Defending. This was incredible.

leftsideoverhere Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Well, I said I had the "epic" feeling for tonight and it didn't disappoint. Missed the first five minutes 'cos of traffic and travel fun, but at least that weren't as bad as the poor couple who came in to the stand just past us shortly into the second half trying to find their seats for the first time! Bless 'em. Weale 10 - Brave, thoughtful and building a very good relationship with the back four. Just wish he could kick right footed, and occasionally throw the ball out to the midfield. Neilson 8 - Came forward with some determination, and kept his side closed down when defending. Brown 9 - Awesome. Despite his age, I'm sure he's improving game-by-game faster than some of the younger lads. His header so deserved a goal. Hobbs 8 - Still learning, but solid tonight, coping with speed and skill from the QPR front men. Berner 9 - He's a delight to watch, stands up so strong, goes in skillfully when needed. Oakley 8 - The woman behind me was calling him all night long, even as he tackled his heart out. Captain's performance in a difficult game. King 8 - Assured on the ball, and willing to play the team out of trouble instead of hoof it upfield into a blind alley. That, in fact, was a feature of tonight across the whole team, which was a joy to watch. For a performance without Steve Howard, tonight is the best we've played, because we remembered that he wasn't there, and played the ball to feet, not the opposition's centre-backs. Wellens 8 - Didn't seem to start with confidence, but vision is excellent, and some of his through balls were sublime. Second half a big improvement. N'Guessan 7 - Caused a lot of problems but lost a lot of aerial challenges, which I don't understand. If Howard ain't gonna play then Dany needs to win more in the air than he did tonight. But when he ran at their right back in the second half it was a delight. Fryatt 8 - Good goals, especially the second one from a tight angle. But doesn't seem able to see other strikers in attacking positions. So frustrating. Waghorn 9 - Half-dead by the time he went off, gave everything and so nearly got the goal he deserved. Great performance. Gallagher 8 - Good ball-play, but didn't bring enough energy into the game for me, given that he was coming on as fresh legs. McGivern N/A - Not on long enough to tell, but did the job. Pearson 10 - Exactly the right attitude coming out of the club since Monday's lucky victory, avoided the potential distractions of the Davids debacle, and just got the job done, didn't fall for the temptation of simply trying to hold out for a nil-nil and put a team on the park to play football which successfully outplayed possibly the best footballing side we've faced this season. And then inspired them to step it up a gear in the second half. Fans 10 - Packed to the rafters and loud as fook. "Edgar Davids, what a willy puller" and "We are joint top of the league". Classics. Thanks to everyone else who went. Good times.
Guest ttfn Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Weale 8 - Great double save in the closing minutes, some good catches and just an all-round hero. I now love this guy. Neilson 7 - Good defensively, still totally hopeless going forward Hobbs 7 - Should have been closing down Taarabt for the first goal before the ball came back to him. Then solid. Brown 8 - My QPR mates commented on what a rock he was and I couldn't help but agree. Nearly added a 3rd. Berner 8 - Legend Oakley 9 - The best I've ever seen him play for City. Flying into every challenge, made some intelligent passes and led the side well. MOTM. Wellens 7.5 - Some good touches and tackles but not having the same impact as he initially did. Maybe we're just spoilt now. King 8 - All over the place, but for once in a good way. That said, in my book that's two good performances in a week. N'Guessan 8 - Absolutely magnificent crossing for the first goal and on a couple of other occasions but also ran into a lot of blind alleys. Waghorn 8 - Worked his socks off and made the defenders lives' difficult. Fryatt 9 - I love it when he scores, nothing better than having a prolific striker. Two good finishes (though I thought he'd fooked the second one) and just as importantly, some really good hold up play. Only kept off top spot by the excellent Oakley. subs: Gallagher 7 - Did what was required and kept the ball well. Really good performance, though I thought QPR may have been good enough for a point. But a magnificent result for an equally impressive performance.

CKB Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 TV Weale 8 - We have a top class keeper here! the best keeper we have had since Fulop! Neilson 7.5 - Is Robbie going from strength to strength? we shall see but i was very impressed with him tonight Hobbs 7.5 - Solid stuff, got some good blocks in and did a good, solid job Brown 8 - Truely back to his best tonight i felt! a rock! DO YA SMELLLLLLL WHAT THE BROWN IS COOKING? (dunno why i said that) Berner 7 - Solid stuff! he ain't fancy but he usually looks composed and plays to his ability Oakley 6 - Sorry but i am getting fed up with his lackluster performances, he's just not clever enough on the ball and rarely sets much up! an intellegent player would have set up a clear chance when given the ball in the center of the park and he just passed it right back to the QPR defence and that just summed up what i really feel about Oakley at the moment, he just doesn't seem up to it! I just don't feel confident when he's on the ball and surely he's living on borrowed time? Wellens 7.5 - Once again solid and holds the midfield well, if we didn't have Wellens we would struggle to show any class in midfield at times! King 7 - Much better than his performance at Reading he actually got mentioned more than once and that wasn't in the 89th minute either! N'Guessan 8 (MOM) - Caused problems, great ball in for Fryatt and overall a very good game for Mr Dany! Fryatt 8 - Good finishes that should help his confidence more Waghorn 8 - Great game! held the ball up VERY well, showed strength and could have had a goal Gallagher 6.5 - Did what he had to do, nothing special McGivern - N/A
martyn Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 At Game Weale 8 - Solid as a rock as per usual. Neilson 8 - Excellent game. Solid defensively and distribution was simple, progressive and consistently accurate. Good tactical booking to stop a QPR attack Hobbs 8 - Standard stuff from Jack. Rock like defensively. Cut out some occasional distribution lapses and he's premier standard Brown 8 - The human wall. Tackles, heads and boots everything in his way. Loved the celebration at the end. Berner 8 - So glad he was back in. Tenacious in the tackle, a good outlet. BRUNO BRUNO Oakley 7 - Passing again somewhat awry if it had to be 10 yards +. Worked his absolute nuts off like the rest of the midfield however. King 8.5 - Faultless really. Today was an example of how "quiet efficiency" should be. Intercepted cleverly and distributed intelligently. Wellens 8.5 - Was absolutely majestic 2nd half. Dictated our tempo beautifully and destroyed QPR's midfield threat. N'Guessan 8 - Had Ramage on toast. Prone to ignoring defensive duties but when your delivery was as good as his tonight, he can be forgiven Fryatt 9 - 2 predatory strikes, kept the defenders occupied and no doubt alerted premiership managers again. Waghorn 9 - Immense with back to goal, glorious on the half turn, gave the QPR centre halves nightmares. A colossus Subs Gallagher 7 McGivern N/a Fans 10 Away day as whole 10
clazkel Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 At the game Weale - 8 Some decent saves, great kicking Neilson - 7.5 Done what he had to do Hobbs - 7.5 Some of his distribution was alittle poor, but pretty solid Brown - 8 Solid Bruno - 8 Solid Oakley - 7.5 Decent performance but Wellens seems to be outshining him Wellens - 9 Seemed to be everywhere, gets stuck in King - 8 Disappeared afew times but all in all a good game N'Guessan -8 He can cross the ball, and won afew headers Waghorn - 8.5 Creates space, always busy Fryatt - 9 Cracking header, pace, looked good A brilliant team performance, every player played their part, and it was a great night
lcfc_jme Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Ratings from being at Loftus Road: Weale: 8 - assured, calm and confident. Such a good 'keeper. Definitely better than Ben Foster. Neilson: 8 - had an awful lot of reservations about him before the game, but managed to prove me wrong by giving a quality performance. Defended well, rarely caught out of position, and even got forward brilliantly to support attacks despite his lack of pace. One outrageous lunge could have been costly but very solid for the most part. Hobbs: 8 - Strong, not caught out of position, dominant in the air and even displayed pace when the ball was played in behind him. Cracking central defender. "Yes" Wayne Brown: 8.5 - Reading of the game tonight was exceptional. Powerhouse in the air, extremely composed on the ground and even looked to pass it along the floor at times (once could've cost us a goal but he got away with it so all is forgiven - needs to work on that aspect, though). Labelled him a Sunday League defender when I first saw him, how wrong I feel now. Even nearly scored. His celebration at the end was worth the entry fee alone. Bruno: 8 - Immense left-back, definitely a white Swiss version of Chrissy P. I love the guy. Oakley: 7.5 - Worked well, put in a decent shift and made some quality challenges. Everyone gets ****ed off with him when his passes go astray or do not connect, but at least he looks to make things happen, and I appreciate that rather than an aimless hoof merchant. Wellens: 8 - Great passing range, beautiful link-up play and solid in the tackle. The type of midfielder we've been lacking for a while, and will sorely miss were he to be out the side for an extended period. Massive fan. KING!: 8.5 - Magnificent performance. Everyone slates him all the time as he isn't the man making 50 yard passes or putting a booming challenge in every 5 minutes, but he was awesome tonight. Tackled, battled, started moves, got the ball down, great touches and just generally helped drive us forward during our spell of dominance at the start of the second. Int too shabby in the air either. The lad obviously has real talent, and it showed tonight. N'Guessan: 8 - Hadn't seen him play well before tonight so was worried about his inclusion, but it was more than justified. Used his pace very effectively, showed trickery, was direct, got a superb assist, tracked back and always broke forward to give the option. Consistency could be a key problem, as is his positioning at times, but a great wide performance tonight. Fryatt: 8 - Obviously going to get all the acclaim seeing as he was the one who scored both of our goals, but I won't lie, I didn't think he had by any stretch an exceptional game tonight. Infact, I was saying that we should have replaced him with Howard just before he scored the second. To me he seemed to have a heavy touch and a little off the pace. But then, a striker is there to score goals and he did that tonight thankfully, performance doesn't matter so long as he manages to do his job properly. Waghorn: 9* - Inspirational this evening. Absolutely ran himself to a stand-still and to be honest really, really deserved a goal. Worked unbelievably hard, ran at defenders, always gave the option and made a nuisance of himself whether dropping deep or playing off the last man. Performance most certainly deserved a goal and unfortunately in my opinion his performance will not be talked about as highly as Fryatt's.ally Subs: Gally: 7 - Did what was required in that he sat deep and tried to join any rare attacks forward whilst he was on. Showed his experience. McGivern: N/A. Pearson: 12. Absolutely bang on the ****ing money today. Limited an extremely creative and free-scoring team to only 1 goal on their own patch, and made us very worthy winners. Love the guy. Fans: Quality. Me in the Tube Station: Epic Fail. Other: Tremendous London Away Day again.
Koke Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I agree with every word Jamie has said. Thought Martyn Waghorn was fucking outstanding. Never stopped running and worked his bollocks off. It's a shame his goal was disallowed - the lad deserved it.
yorksfox Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I've always rated Fryatt - only really get to see City in away games up north but his all round effort and hold up play always impresses me. The 2 chances he squandered against Reading, well only he would have positioned himself and timed his runs to create the chance anyway. Once he went off we never looked like scoring. Last night's goals were 2 routine finishes for him, great that he keeps plugging away even when the goals temporarily dry up for him. Andy King was immense again - you don't notice him until he's not in the side, and then we lack shape and balance, and the opposition always seem to have more of the ball.
Bert Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 From the tv. Weale 8 - The best keeper we've had since Walker. Neilson 7 - Good in the air, made a clever foul that earnt him a booking but slowed the play down and stopped a flowing attack. Bruno 8 - God. Brown 8 - Has certainly put his shaky games behind him. Hobbs 7 - What a steal at 400k. Positioning, solid in the air, composed. What more can you ask for? Oakley 7 - Always works hard, gets stuck in and he was a lot better than his last 2 games last night. N'Guessan 8 - Dangerous. Pacey, strong and his final delivery was excellent last night. Wellens 9 - What a player, just fantastic in everything he does, uses his body really well. King 8 - Broke up play, won the ball, made a simple pass without any fuss. Waghorn 9 - Could've scored, and certainly deserved a goal for his endeavour. Never stopped running and was unlucky not to score. Fryatt 8 - Still hangs onto the ball too long for my liking, but he was back to his clinical best, great anticiapation for both goals. Gallagher 7 - Gave us a bit more on the ball and some energy, so good technically.
JimmyJam Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 WEALE 8 (Never looked troubled, solid performance) NEILSON 8.5 (Played with confidence, good distribution, made some important challenges and looked to get forward best he has played this season) BROWN 8.5 (Solid bossed the defense, seemed to always be there when we needed someone made some great challenges and even his distribution was good) HOBBS 7.5 (Couple of shaky moments at the start but grew with confidence as the game went on made some great tackles and what a shot!!!!) BERNER 8 (Solid performance as we have all come to expect from him never put a foot wrong) N'GUESSON 8 (Constant threat when going forward, showed pace, strength and an aerial threat, great cross for Fryatt's first.) KING 8 (Lost Taarbat early on for their goal, but sat infront of the defense for most of the game and put in some crucial tackles Edgar who?) WELLENS 9 (Tackled well, created lots everything seemed to go through him, never seems to waste the ball when he gets it what a player he is!!!!) OAKLEY 8 (Made some great challenges, got stuck in looked like a Captain!) WAGHORN 9 ( Played the game of his life chased everything so unlucky not to get a goal, occasionally needs to work on final ball but for 19 a great talent) FRYATT 8 (Great to see him pick up 2 looked like he really wanted a goal tonight and took his chances well, tested Cerny well early on, good game) Subs: GALLAGHER 7 (Didn't make a massive impact but fitted in nicely into the setup and nice to see someone trying to lob the keeper from the halfway line.)

Bloody spot on! Pissed or not, youre a feckin hero Babs! Right..... At Game. Weale - 9 - So good to have a decent keeper again. Berner -9 - So glad he was back, brilliant, just brilliant! Neilson - 8.5 Best performance for us, was shocked at how much he got forward and he did us proud. Brown 8 - " One man wall "summed it up perfectly Hobbs 8 - Solid as ever Oakley 7 - Much better from the Capt and tried very hard N'Guessan 9 - QPR fan colleague singled him out as a superb player last night Wellens 9 - I love him - end of King 8 - Good performance, one of his better nights Waghorn 9 - Never stopped running, harrassing their keeper and defence all game, gave it everything and looks like he loves this club. Great kid! Fryatt 8.5 - Best performance for a while and 2 good goals Gallagher 8 - still looks to be one of our best strikers IMO NP 10 - tactically perfect Fans 10 - most of us were standing to the right of the goal, no one moaned - it was brilliant!
Fox92 Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 At the game: Weale - 8 Neilson - 8 Hobbs - 8 Brown - 8 Berner - 8 Oakley - 7.5 Wellens - 9 King - 9 N'Guessan - 8 Waghorn - 8.5 Fryatt - 9 Cracking header, pace, looked good Awesome Night, great celebrations and a great game.
bluebeau Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Fantastic performance by the whole team, IMO Wayne Brown & Martyn Waghorn probably deserved MOM. I don't think anyone rated lower than 8. But an interesting question.........if he was now fit & ready to play, how would Tunchev be able to get into the team? That just shows what a quality squad NP & Co have built. Bring on WBA & that conceited twat Mattock!
