norfolkfox222 Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1945825,00.html Right im not one to start moaning for saying Person out or any of that shizz! I think hes done a fantastic job since hes been here! But this story has annoyed me slightly!!!! Surely clean sheets shouldnt be our target! It has to be goals! U cant win games with just clean sheets!! Id love Nigel to come out and say goals are the target! Clearly ex defenders who become managers are always going to be defensive minded but id love to have the belief that we can go on and score 3 - 4 goals in a game!! I just can never picture Leicester doing what Forest and Cardiff did last night at the moment! On another note have we ever won a game where Kermogant has started!?!! and why is he not playing Dyer and Fryatt who i personally thought were playing well in form oveer the christmas period!! Right im ready for some backlash x
Babylon Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Don't see why you'd get a backlash, it's a perfectly valid point of view!!
norfolkfox222 Posted 27 January 2010 Author Posted 27 January 2010 You know what some people are like!! haha
Babylon Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 You know what some people are like!! haha That's usually against people who express themselves like... "Pearsons shit looool... max Gradel would have won us the game looool.... sack pearson and get billy davis init".

"Pearsons shit looool... max Gradel would have won us the game looool.... sack pearson and get billy davis init". I've seen people took the piss out of and received the backlash for less tbh, One unnamed poster inparticular is good at that - does it in a majority of their posts. As for the main point totally agree, very valid points. We need to goals!!!

Jon the Hat Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Agrred that concentrating on defence at this point is completely the wrong focus. Players need to be playing in their best positions to gain confidence. On the other hand, we will no doubt look better when Bruno and Fryatt are fit and playing.
Matt Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Stop being a nob... you don't know what you're talking about. Two goals? or to get goals? ha Oops, Yeah I did mean - We need to get goals, score goals! Two goals would be a start though. We've not been playing Fryatt for the 90 minutes over the last few games and that would be a start, I'm a fan of Fryatt and he has surprised me, pre-season I said he wouldn't cut it, he's proved me wrong to some extent, yet I still don't think it's enough, we need something aswell as Fryatt, the worrying thing is the only reason we would sign a new striker would signal Fryatt is off IMO.
lcfcsnow Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 What, with that group of defenders Nigel? We're in for a exciting end 2nd half of the season then, same old Leicester. We can't score so lets try and be hard to beat, that was the objective throughout the entire 07-08 season, total borefest we had many goaless draws as we actually had a decent defence then, but it never helped the players confidence, we all know what that resulted in.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Up till December we had really already achieved this 'clean sheet target' as we hardly let any in and won games 1-0/2-0 (Boro, Plymouth, Reading, Palace) and if we did let one ii that would be the most we would let in during a macth. The only problem at that point was scroing, and if the defence did go through a rough patch like it is now, the scorers would have to make up for it. This hasnt happened. We dont score enough and though the defence is currently bad, the scoring is still even worse. So lets concentrate on scroing first then the defence, but preferably both!
StanSP Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 It's not the wrong focus, as such. It's needs to be a balanced focus. No point in focussing all our attention on goals if we can't keep the back door shut at the other end.
lildave3 Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 I think he has a point. It's what we were doing at the start of the season.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 He thinks we're keeping a clean sheet on Saturday he's having a Ge-raff.

Right im ready for some backlash x plymouth back in november, he started, we won 1-0. tbh the defence is probably the main reason we're getting 1 point rather than 3, or 0 points rather than 1. Until the swansea game we hadn't failed to score since derby in mid-october so it's not nessacerly an attacking problem, more the fact that we've only kept 1 clean sheet since the derby game.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Scoring goals is what we need to do. Just how to score them is the problem. We have a toothless bunch of so called goal scorers. I am not saying N.P. out. Far from it, but the blame has to lie at his door, for bringing in mediocre players. Apart from two seasons ago, this tream is currently, the worst I have ever seen. Why are Forest so good? In a nutshell, far better management. Their players have a great belief in one another, something which is not apparent here, sadly.

Far from it, but the blame has to lie at his door, for bringing in mediocre players. Pay Peanuts get Monkeys. Why are Forest so good? Because they've spent a shit load of cash? Because they are a year ahead of us in development? (they struggled near the bottom on their first season back remember).
Zingari Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 back to basics ? we've not done anything else but the basics ,, we've hardly been adventurous yet
Corky Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Apart from two seasons ago, this tream is currently, the worst I have ever seen.
Babylon Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 I'm presuming he has only supported Leicester since Holloway was manager.
MC Prussian Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Defence is the best offence! Defense is the worst offense.
l444ry Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 The day this side goes chasing goals is the day it starts shipping 3 or 4 per game. Surely any halfwit can see that.....can't they?
samuel Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Oh....People are starting to question NP and his hoons are they? Nigel Pearson is tactically unaware, he hasn't got a clue as to what maybe his best starting eleven. I am still adamant of a 15th or 16th finish to the season.
Collymore Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 3 steps to solving our problems: 1. Buy some half decent fullbacks 2. Replace Oakley with someone who can stay awake for 90 mins, 3. Entice Collymore out of retirement with a pays as you play deal

Right im ready for some backlash x the way i see it, is the problem is not so much the attack or the defence, but the midfield... they offer no relief for the defense by keeping possesion or supplying the forwards - hence not enough chances and over exposed defense. correct me if i'm wrong, but the last three games have been since pearson dropped king - which i think is more relevant than kermo and (the apparently blameless) waghorn starting. back to basics (a euphemism for hoof ball?) has had some success perhaps due to it's avoidance of the midfield, and leaving them free to play super deep and support the defence...
