Birdy Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Footballers in general do what the hell they want to. David Beckham did the same with Rebecca loos-knickers and non of this came up. I think the press has blown this out of proportion in my opinion purely cos he tried to gag them from reporting it. Shagging a protitute hasnt made rooney a worse player, gerrard punching someone in a bar hasnt made him a worse player. Just dont leave your missus alone in the room with him. but considering Capello has banned the whole wags on tour thing, then there should be no other wives around
dandannieldanok Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 I would go for Gerrard- he seems to have more of a clue and is equally inspirational, in my opinion. So you go on about the importance of being a 'role-model' and select Gerrard as the man to take over.
David Guiza Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Yes and as captain as well. What he has done is not releveant to football. If Wayne Bridge doesn't go i'm sure it wouldn't be a massive loss. Baines and Warnock are proberly as good if not better. John Terry is a natural leader and has not had many bad games for England if any. If he was to dropped for something like this and replaced with Matthew Upson or Wes Brown then we stand no chance of winning.
davieG Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 We should add Bridge's ex to the squad she obviously knows how to get players motivated and up for it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 So you go on about the importance of being a 'role-model' and select Gerrard as the man to take over. He'd be the best candidate all around looking at ability leadership keeping your nose clean etc, despite drunkenly punching a DJ. Sorry state of affairs Not that it should matter if Terry still has the players behind him it should be him.
maddog Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 No. Theres no way the squad will be able to play 100% with him there. I wouldn't be able to, he shouldn't go. If he does go i hope theres a punch up between him and Bridge on the pitch, in the world cup final or something

If he does go i hope theres a punch up between him and Bridge on the pitch, in the world cup final or something The Chelsea team seemed pretty much behind him and focused on saturday and i know that The World Cup is a much bigger stage but it's the same principle. And Wayne Bridge has said he will not go if John Terry is selected. So who would you want in your squad Bridge a cover for left back or John Terry one of the best centre backs in the world.
Jon the Hat Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Jesus, I wouldn't want half you lot as mates if you think shagging a friends ex after a couple of months is acceptable behaviour. Terry has shown again that he is a completely unsuitable Captain.

I'd be miffed don't get me wrong, but it's not as bad as it's being made out. Unless your Toni Terry, who is clearly the worlds biggest door matt anyway.
StanSP Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Jesus, I wouldn't want half you lot as mates if you think shagging a friends ex after a couple of months is acceptable behaviour.Terry has shown again that he is a completely unsuitable Captain. No-one has said it is acceptable. Just that in footballing terms, he's the man for the job, because it's likely that he'll perform at South Africa as good as he has done regardless of this incident. England need him there.
Koke Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 there is scandal and then there is a total scumbag being your team captain. So he's cheated on her 8 times at least, and she's still with him? She has Gold Digger written all over her forehead. She stays with him cos she doesn't wanna give up on that lucrative high life style Terry provides. He's used to getting away with playing on the sideline because she lets him. She's a doormat and a half.
hairy Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Theres no way the squad will be able to play 100% with him there. But then they would be constantly wondering if Terry has popped round to see their Mrs. Worse if you ask me.
Koke Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Rumours flying around on Twitter that Capello has personally phoned Wayne Bridge and told him Terry has lost the captain's armband. Asked him to have a look under his bed. Yeah fvck off. Was Wayne Bridge's girlfriend a post in Moscow? Because JT hit that.
leicesterfox86 Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Personally, I think he has to. As much as he is an idiot for doing what he's done, I don't believe leaving him out of the World Cup squad will achieve anything, let alone our chances of winning the World Cup. We don't have a defender like him and he'd be sorely missed imo.I do believe he should be stripped of the captaincy though, how can players look up to him and take inspiration from him after doing the dirty on one of his best mates? I'll support him whilst he's playing for England, but that's it. Of course he should go to the World Cup. Why on earth wouldn't he? If anyone that had a bit of 'baggage' wasn't able to go, we'd be without Rooney, Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Lampard. Private life in private life at the end of the day. This football blog on the World Cup captaincy suggests that he could be stripped of the armband and this might be the case. However, for him not to go at all would be ridiculous.

Tommeh Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Beckham skipper, Michael Morrison partner Rio at CB. Job done.
maddog Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 But then they would be constantly wondering if Terry has popped round to see their Mrs. Worse if you ask me. Theres a lot more choice at centre back to replace JT than to replace Bridge at left back. I would be very happy to see JT never play for England again after this, i had little respect for the man as he always charges and swears repeatedly at referees despite being England captain, and now this. He's an idiot. Would you want to see a total fooking arsehole twat playing for England, even if it gave us a little bit more chance of winning the world cup. It's not worth it for me.
David Guiza Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Theres a lot more choice at centre back to replace JT than to replace Bridge at left back. I don't think there is, realisticly you need to left backs. Ashley Cole obviously is one. Stephen Warnock and Leighton Baines are good players so they could easily fill the gap. However the centre back cover is Wes Brown, Matthew Upson or whoever else absolutley not in the same league as Terry.
Corky Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Yes he should go, and as for being captain, as long as he has the respect of the majority of the squad and they listen to him then he should remain as skipper.
purpleronnie Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 At least we're not going OTT about it and I'm sure it won't be in the papers right up to the world cup and used as an excuse when we get knocked out. I find it odd all this hostility directed at John Terry and not focused on the money grabbing woman who cheated on bridge. I'm telling you now these stories will only harm our chances, and the media who keep stating we need to get behind the lads carry on trying their best to scupper our chances. I'm sure they'll find another story in the next few months to further the cause. We couldn't leave it until after the world cup...nah! And those who hark back to bobby moore and how he should be the example to all captains should not only move on because times have changed but the press were alot less intrusive into footballers lives than now and who knows what they got up to back then.
Koke Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 I find it odd all this hostility directed at John Terry and not focused on the money grabbing woman who cheated on bridge. Nobody gives a shit about her, mate. She's a nobody. I wouldn't recognise her if she walked past me on the street. We care about John Terry cos he's a crucial member of our World Cup team.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Theres no way the squad will be able to play 100% with him there. I wouldn't be able to, he shouldn't go. Well thankfully you will never ever play for England and its also a good job nobody values your opinion. People bringing up all this stuff about JT, the 911 one is pretty harsh I think, he was on the lash with FOUR other Chelsea players at the time they werent taking the piss out of the attack, so people need to get facts right before waving them around. All this role model bollocks, Beckham shagged about when England captain and got caught, Gerrard knocked a DJ out in 2008 got taken to court, still Liverpool captain there have been loads of "captains" that have done stupid things but they havent had their captaincy stripped from them. Yeah Wayne Bridge is bound to pissed off with JT but Bridge is the only one losing out on a World Cup place not JT, what a message that would send out to the World of football if England dont take there best centre half to South Africa. People will now say he isnt that good but yes he is, easily the best centre half England have. Possible England Captains to replace JT.. Gerrard - Assaulted a DJ in 2008, taken to Court. Ferdinand - Didnt show upto a drugs test in 2003, banned for 8 months. Beckham - Had an affair behind his Mrs' back. A. Cole - Shagged about behind Cheryl's back. Lampard - Had mulitple affairs. All great 'role models'.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Whats to talk about? You pick your best 23 players, end off.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Whats to talk about? You pick your best 22 players, end off. Well its not end of because you have to take 23.
Koke Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 All great 'role models'. Yeah. This role model bollocks has always annoyed me. My favourite players growing up was Steve Walsh, and on England scale it was Paul Gascoigne. One was shagging team mates wives behind their back, and the other is an alcoholic wife beating shithead. Footballers are entertainers, not role models. I grew up just fine and became a good productive member of society. Gascoigne and Walshie had absolutely no bearing on my upbringing, or anyone else that I know for that matter.
