Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Bellend. Not sure if having to endure Jane's Addiction as well would be worth it though. Special K, Pure Morning, Every Me, Every You, Special Needs.....
Libertine Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Bellend. Not sure if having to endure Jane's Addiction as well would be worth it though. Only caught the end of their set.
Finnegan Posted 31 March 2010 Author Posted 31 March 2010 I used to rave about Brian Molko in my teens. To date I still think he's one of the most underrated lyricists of my musical lifetime.

StanSP Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Beat me to it mate. Even if it's performed intimately or at a festival, Hurt is a jaw-dropping song. NIN have got some right gems in their back catalougue, could reel off a cracking list of tracks from Pretty Hate Machine, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile and With Teeth. Right Where it Belongs by them is Hurt-lite, still brilliant. Gutted I never saw them live. Placebo have some lyrically brilliant tunes as well. Good shout. From the latest album, along with the ones you mentioned, Devil In The Details and Kings of Medicine I love.
Finchy Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Although I absolutely hate the people who don't get what he's saying and just think Mike Skinner likes to get paralytic and fight, so they like The Streets because of things like that. So many Streets lyrics could be put in this thread, the man's a genius.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJiOhvE4R6w Actually, too many off this album.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 One of the greatest songs by one of the greatest songwriters, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6qDkd6VWVU&feature=related

Webbo Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Nothing Has Been Proved - Dusty Springfield always thought the lyrics to this were excellent The lyrics match the film perfectly. A bit like this (I know it's Take That, don't laugh at me ).

lcfcadam Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 "No path of truth led me where I could walk but the lies that I made led me out of the swamp." Whole song is a lyrical and musical masterpiece but that final line is just a killer.

Flynny Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Not even that much of a fan of the music in this "The past is a grotesque animal and in it's eyes you seeHow completely wrong you can be"
Cat Burger Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Bob Dylan - Hard Rain's Gonna fall Great call, I love that album. I had a student who quoted it in her A-level coursework the other day. She'll be getting an A if I have anything to do with it

Webbo Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 I've always loved lyrics in this song. Any song that name checks 'woodchip' is okay by me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRyaPO1tTSk
Jay Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 Just wish more people my age would open up a bit when it comes to music... I think it's just people in general nothing about age so many people have closed minds when it comes to music, It's something I am really passionate about and I always get frustrated when people don't seem to care as much as I do
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 I've always loved lyrics in this song. Any song that name checks 'woodchip' is okay by me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRyaPO1tTSk 15 bastard years ago. Frightening, innit?
