Owners who wanted a big name manager, who obviously want some big name players, a big name manager who will want some big name players, looking at big name players at a club trying to loan out a handful of fringe big name players, and also seem to be against loaning their players to clubs in the same division. Its not as stupid as most of you think

Good point, I'm not gonna get my hopes up though.

Reading all that made my brain hurt.

JakeMoore, Why does Abe deserve to be in the team over Wellens and King?

I know he is still adjusting to the english game and it may be an unfair judgement but quite personally I don't think he's looked THAT good to knock any of those 2 out of the starting line up!

SWP would rip the championship apart. That is one of the reasons that he will never end up here. There would be a host of premier clubs that would be in line to sign him before us,

That is if Man City will let him go to another prem club! The main reason for Bellamy at Cardiff is due to that reason.

May not be true, but we are having a friendly in Thailand, been bought over by a thai consortium, SGE is the manager, Pearson left! If you asked me last year these would have been more unbelievable than now loaning two players not starting in a Man city team who wont be able to sell them until january, and probably wont loan them to any other rival prem clubs! I for one hope we benefit from the manager being friends with Mancini and having managed at Man City to loan a couple of their players, who knows?

Yes, I was certainly surprised that we were taken over and have had a couple of managerial changes. Especially when we had a person in charge who was notorious for chopping and changing managers and was looking for someone to invest in the club with a view to buy. Definitely more unbelievable than SWP and Shay Given coming on loan.

Heard we are signing Darth Vader for fullback, has a disciplinary record a mile long though and once throttled a referee with the force from thirty yards

No chance, Given has been the best consistent keeper in the premiership since Schmilcheal (sp)

On a side note, completly agree- suprised Fergie hasn't been in for him considering Van Der Sar is retiring end of season.

Man Utd are as skint as Liverpool

In my opinion Shay Given is over rated. He's a cracking shot stopper, but that's probably because he gets a lot of practice due to his poorer organisation and decision making skills. In my opinion it's no coincidence that every team he's played in has a bit of a shakey defence, or that a team like Man Utd hasn't gone in for him over the years.

He's a good goal keeper (far too good for us), but not quite as good as a lot of people seem to think. Like I say, this is just my opinion. Having said that all that, he's still better than Arsenal's offerings lol

completely agree. great shot stopper, mediocre keeper otherwise. as you say, every defence he's ever played with has looked shakey and that can't be a coincidence. obviously would be alright for us though!

Right, my dad, knows someone who has an inside ear at the Walkers. A few mutters of having the above on loan through Eriksson's links.

Anybody else heard this? By the way it's just something he's heard - he's no journalist so i can't be sure on how reliable the source is.

DREAMS MAN :D

Shay Given is one of the best organisers of any defence anywhere, and is an exceptional shot stopper.

His major fault is that he tends not to come for too many crosses, other than that he is quality.

Yet they always manage to spend well. If they went in for Given they'd have no problems being able to afford him.

So our team could look like this before long with all the rumours flying around:

Given

Stoor Hobbs Brown Berner

Wright-Phillips King Abe Dyer

Waghorn Santa Cruz

Championship winners surely. :scarf:

Think abe will need to improve, watched him against scunny, didnt have a clue where/what he was doing.

Sooner he can learn basic english the better :)

Funny that. Man Utd are nothing like as skint as Liverpool. For a start I don't recall them dropping out of the Champions league this season. I don't see their bankers taking them to court to force a sale.

It wasn't me that said it was it? Knowitall Jimmy made the claim Man Utd were as skint as Liverpool.
