Sven's Record So Far

OK, so Sven's had 5 games now and I presume most people are happy, particularly after today's win over Barnsley

In his 5 games he has picked up 10 points, and people always say 2pts a game is Champion's form, barring a miracle that's obviously beyond us but it does look like we are going to have a genuine push up the league.

Sousa by comparison got 5pts from 9 games, makes me wonder what the idiots were talking about who criticised his sacking especially those on Radio Leicester's Football Moan-In.

Anyway, nice Sven - and nice one Manderic for rescuing the situation whilst it still could be rescued by getting rid of Sousa and not doing a Holloway

There is not a lot of quality in this division. For me, there's a handful of teams half decent, which we've all played...

Cardiff, QPR, Swansea, P'mouth... (possibly add a couple more)

and the rest is much of a muchness.

If we play at our best, with what we've got, we'll end up top 6 no question.

The next two months are crucial, just outside the top 6, with money to spend in January... Yes please.

It's more than just the results too. The moves he has made transfer wise look to have been genius. They are right on RL when they say if we could sign Davies it would be a massive coup and if it was to happen you know that it's all about the attraction of working with Sven.

We were going to get relegated after a handful of games. Now we are pushing for promotion after a handful of games.

At least people are consistent in their sweeping naivety :appl::rolleyes:

You'd never hear me say anything about promotion, even if we got in the top8, I said "barring a miracle that's obviously beyond us but it does look like we are going to have a genuine push up the league"

WE ARE GOING UP!

I SAY, WE ARE GOING UP!

Results aside just the fact that we are playing much better football and look more cohesive as a unit is the best thing about Sven taking over.

I wanted Sousa to be given more time when he was sacked but fair enough to Mandaric (for once) and the Thais for their involvement because they've got this one spot on.

It could have got worse under Sousa but with Sven, we've made some great loan signings, hopefully some will become permanent, we're playing decent football with better passing than that under the so-called passing expert and we are climbing the league.

As close as we are to the play-offs points wise, for now I'm happy we're climbing. We may well be within reach by january but that's then and this is now. If we get there great, then lets talk about and go nuts, but for now as I said I'm happy with how we're progressing.

When I really think about it, I still find it bewildering that SGE is OUR MANAGER. Genuinely amazed at what's happened here in the past few months :trumpet:

That's it! -the man once courted by Chelsea is now our manager!

I cant help but think this was the Thais doing. I seem to remember reading that they wanted Sven in charge right from the beginning and i would put it past even MM to staunchly defend Sousa and say he needs more time and everyones backing to then sack him two days later.

Love the man. Bowing after a victory should become customary for managers.

Lets just hope he doesn't do a Megson and move to the Prem, Wigan or West Ham will come up at some point.

Not that i liked Megson particularly, but if Sven does too well he will be up for those sort of jobs, like seriously this time.

Not too much to grumble about ATM, we'll see if it continues. The Xmas/New year will be very interesting to see where the clubs heading and the calibre of players Sven can attract to the club.

I wanted Sousa out more than most on here (I had my suspicions from the Boro game onwards), and I'm thrilled to bits that we've got Sven.

But you can't help but feel that Sousa never had the backing of the owners in the same way Sven did. His one major signing, Waghorn, is widely acknowledged not really to have been his signing. Other than that he was not really backed in the transfer market.

Perhaps Sousa was unwilling to use the loan market, but given the level of investment since Sven's arrival, I don't think that it's particularly wild to speculate that Sven has been better backed than Sousa would ever hope to have been.

Plus, let's look at Sousa's fixtures - in the first 9 games we played QPR, Burnley, Coventry, Norwich and Cardiff - all challenging at the top of the table.

Sousa did shit. To get 5 points from those games was unacceptable, and he had to go. We couldn't score for shit and we defended awfully.

But Sven's first 5 games have been Barnsley, Preston, Hull (all properly, properly Shit teams), Leeds (who we beat under Sousa anyway) and Swansea (best team I've seen us play this season).

As I said at the start, I'm delighted Sven's started well, but let's not get carried away. Very few teams would have taken less than 7 points from the run of fixtures we've just had. So for us to get 10 is good, not spectacular.
