sdb Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 I wonder how much Walsall have got out of the deal <_< they get a pretty big cut if i recall correctly. bummer, forgot about that.
Simmo86 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Looking forward to the radio on Sunday now, people ringing up claiming Svennis is an idiot for selling our Matty!! Whos else is going to partner Howard up front!
STUHILL Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Dam shame as I got his name on my shirt buttttttttt the right move for both parties in my opinion! He looks to have lost his way here and needs a fresh challenge elsewhere. I think he will always be borderline League 1/ Championship striker and for where we are going we need better. I know many will be unhappy as he has a lot of supporters and rightly so for what he did for us in League 1 but no doubt he will move on quickly and so should we!!! Bring on the January window and lets see what Sven has up his sleeves!!!!
somebum Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 This is what set Nigel Pearson apart from Sven boring. Pearson got the best out of Fryatt and turned him into a very good player. Sven cannot do that with any player he has because his man management skills are zero. Still, no doubt Sven will get a cut from the transfer fee.

You obviously haven't been paying much attention to the form of Wellens and Abe since he took over.

Pearson turned him into a good League 1 player, we're in the Championship now and need someone who will score goals consistenly at this level. Moronic post!
Fox You Forest Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 He's not that much of an idiot, he can always manage a few bites.
fatmando Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Well I'm sad he's going, I don't think he's been given a fair crack this season. That said if Sven doesn't want him there's no point him being here. Good luck to him and I hope we get a decent fee. This. Thanks has to go to Matty, very sad to see him go. Good luck to him and Nigel.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Some times a time comes where you just have to move on. It is that time for Fryatt. I cant see why anyone would get upset or be cross that he is leaving, he cant play in our current system as he is a 4-4-2 man, and has never really recovered his form since the jaw break. People say he was quality in the months before that injury happened, but if you cast your minds back, he scored a lot of goals in August and September last season (a fair few from penalties) and didnt score too many more. He was a player that was brilliant when everything was going his way, but whent he tough got going he was poor, and just about all of us started to criticise him. Been a good servant, but its time for him to move on.

Edmund Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Their also reportedly signing Mclean from Peterborough. Simpson, Mclean and Fryatt is a decent set of forwards at this level.
crazylegs1984 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Good luck to him at hull I say I can't say I rate him at this level but good luck maybe pearson can get the best out of him after the 1st !!!
RowlattsFox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 I wish him well, he either gets harsh stick or over the top praise, there is no midway ground for him. He has been a good player for us, we wouldn't have got promoted without his goals. I think he could still offer something for us given the opportunity in a front 2 but thats not going to happen with Sven.

I am glad we didn't sign him, his record speaks for itself. I'm sure Sven will be signing better players than that in the transfer window.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 they get a pretty big cut if i recall correctly. bummer, forgot about that. Think it was 25% over and above what they paid for him [rumoured to be £700k]
NorthernFox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Shame to see him go but I thinks its best for everyone concerned. Any player fortunate enough to ever pull on the shirt for City deserves our support which he hasn't always had. Not every player can be a legend/hero/star but I wish Matty well. Thanks for your goals, good luck for the rest of your career.

There's been plenty of criticism aimed at other points you make in your post but I thought I'd have a say so on something else you mention instead. I don't think NP turned Fryatt into a very good player. I think it's more a case of league 1 making Fryatt look like a very good player. The defending in L1 was moronic at best. Also, Fryatt's goalscoring form in league 1 owed a lot to Howard's contribution as well - which often goes unnoticed by many fans it would seem. Fryatt is Championship level at best and that's it. Enough said.
shade Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 mark these: he will score in double figures in the second half of this season.
Legend_in_blue Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 mark these: he will score in double figures in the second half of this season. Not a chance. This will only happen if Hull loan him out to a league one team.
themotivator Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 general verdict is that he can't/won't recapture the form he had pre jaw injury then and probably isn't good enough for prem.
