Ric Flair Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 The last player of the old era to leave, mixed feelings. He's done alright when all things have been considered has Fryatt. Hope he does well there, he's talented, if not a little temperamental.
SMX11 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Hopefully a decent fee has been reached, It is clear that Matty isn't enjoying his football and when you aren't enjoying it there is no point staying. I heard a rumoured figure of 1 mil plus add ons which will be 1.5mil in total. Good value for both clubs really.
Nick Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Undisclosed........ £notalot. Fee agreed according to skysports website.
sdb Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 we should be demanding a good price here. Whatever anyone says he scores goals at this level and is going to a similar team in the same league.
Webbo Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Well I'm sad he's going, I don't think he's been given a fair crack this season. That said if Sven doesn't want him there's no point him being here. Good luck to him and I hope we get a decent fee.
nickelbyfox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Stringer seems to think Fryatt leaving is inevitable as well! Good luck to him at Hull
Simmo86 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Not to fussed about him leaving, will always be thankful for his goals in League 1. But his record in the Championship is pssssh, we need better if we want to improve. 1.5 mil is a good bit of business if true. Another one of the relegated squad to go aswell, just need Oakley and Howard now!
SMX11 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 I wonder how much Walsall have got out of the deal <_<
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 If he goes to another championship side are we in danger of a DJ Campbell situation again? To be honest I believe that if Matty finds his fitness/form and has someone who pulls his strings he is dangerous. I think a clause should be in place to be able to bring him back if this was the case. Maybe we should only let him go to div 1 clubs. Indeed would be terrible if we let him go and he scored a Premier League goal less than once a month like DJ.

Manwell Pablo Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Maybe your right but look at all the players who we have said are not up to it that prosper as soon as they leave Leicester, DJ Campbell doing the business in the premier league. Gradel look to be a great player and we rejected Varney and look at him now awesome. Most players do well when they leave and also managers just look at Holloway. We are a graveyard for players and managers its almost like come to Leicester and we will curse you to play crap. The business!!? He's scored 3 goals. I bet you £50 I can name more players that have dropped like a Stone after leaving Leicester's first team in the past 10 years than you can name ones that have gone on to better things.
Babylon Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 He was pretty awesome last year before his jaw was broken? Except the 10 games before that where he failed to score or even look threatening. He is going to divide opinions because he blows so hot and cold. I have no doubt he'll go there and probably score 6 on the trot, but he's capable of going 15 games without scoring and looking crap in ever game. If we have decent money to spend, then we should be looking at better.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 He was pretty awesome last year before his jaw was broken? He got 10 of his 13 goals before the end of October, suggesting he rode his L1 form into the new season. He broke his jaw in February; in the 15 games between QPR away and Doncaster at home, he scored a grand total of 2.
DanTheFox07 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 all good and well him leaving but who we replacing him with?

Not that I am adverse to him going but picking out a goal drought of 10 odd games after 18 months of consistantly hitting the back of the net is a little harsh, every player has the dry spells, can remember Shearer going a good 10 games without a goal. Disclaimer: before someone comes out with it I am not comparing Alan Shearer to Matthew Fryatt, you mongol.
lildave3 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 He was pretty awesome last year before his jaw was broken? Apart from the first month or two, he was turd.

I hear you, but in all honesty his "consistently hitting the back of the net" came at his level - League One. His Championship record other than his purple patch whereby he continued his League One form is poor at best and his performances in general have matched that. Most of his time with us in this division has been a "dry spell". At the end of the day though, seemingly like you, I'm generally not too bothered about him fvcking off somewhere. Best of luck to the guy in his future exploits but for me it's not a huge loss.
dannythefox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Happy hes moving on he'll get 90mins at most places did alot for us league 1 and last season. But surely everyone can see he wants to be with pearson, i wish him all the best at hull bet he'll score a few for them second half of the season. Cheers Matty.

Didn't score much the season after to be honest our team was so crap no one was going to score many in that team and hada mixed season last term. He's not really had much of a look in this year but has still netted a couple. I don't mind as long as whoever comes is as effective as he is but more consistant. At the top of his game he is still the best goal scorer we have at the club

At the top of his game he is still the best goal scorer we have at the club That, for me, is the biggest problem. Fryatt has in my eyes always lacked any sort of consistency in this league and during his "dry spells", as it were, he used to look massively disinterested, lazy and a general waste of space. Unfortunately for him he had many more of these games than he did at full sharpness and desire. It also fvcked me right off that he was unnecessarily greedy at times and needed 6 or 7 chances to score (yes, I'm aware that you get what you pay for but it's SO frustrating to watch some of the easy chances he has be royally fvcked up when another week he pulls out a great and unexpected finish). Anyway, it's all relative and if we manage to bring in someone better whilst offloading a player who's unhappy and not conducive to a good dressing-room atmosphere* then it can't be a bad thing. We'll see. *note that this is just speculation and I have no evidence other than his unhappiness at not being involved to suggest he's not playing a part in creating a positive vibe.
Walshy5 Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 My opinion of Fryatt is that he,s only good in a 4-4-2 playing off a big man ie Howard and he cant play as a lone striker in a 4-3-2-1 because he,s no stong enough. We,re not strong enough in midfield to play a 4-4-2 with the players we,ve got and we cant go changing the team around just to accomodate matty. You have to do whats best for the team and not individuals. At the end of the day we,re leicester fans not Fryatt fans. I,ll thank Matty for what he,s done for the club. He,s a top bloke very down to earth and wish him all the best. Good Look Matty.
Corky Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Hope we can use the money wisely. He's not as good as some make out, or as bad. He has good points to his game as well as frustrating. Like most of our players. I wish him well at Hull should he go there.
ousefox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 all good and well him leaving but who we replacing him with? Somebody else who is good at warming the bench?
Guest BlueBrett Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Does this mean Sven has 11.5 mil now? It is sad in a way. I had always loosely hung on to a vague dream of him making a spectacular return to the first team in the second half of the season and firing us into the play-offs. Step up Martyn Waghorn.
Guest ttfn Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Except the 10 games before that where he failed to score or even look threatening. Except for when he "bent Newcastle over and gave them a good seeing to" in the words of my Geordie mate. Time has come for him to move on. Under Pearson, and with a fair run in the side I can see him bagging 7 or 8 for Hull this season. Good luck to him - one of my favourite City players of the last 10 years. As I said last time it seemed he was set to leave, like it or not he's become something of an institution here. Perhaps his leaving signals something of a changing of the guard.
