Rich Fox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 The business!!? He's scored 3 goals. I bet you £50 I can name more players that have dropped like a Stone after leaving Leicester's first team in the past 10 years than you can name ones that have gone on to better things. I doubt you could name any to be honest who have been great players at Leicester and then bombed out somewhere else. Maybe DJ is not scoring loads of goals still playing well you cant deny the facts along with my other comments.

ajthefox Posted 23 December 2010 Posted 23 December 2010 Disapointed to see him go to be honest, he has proven he can score goals at this level, it's just a shame Sven doesn't seem to value him as much, although if he's building for the prem then I can see why because Fryatt isn't at that standard. Not going to enjoy him scoring goals for Hull come the new year.
Jimmy Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 muzzy izzet there's one, argument debunked... due to injuries, pick 1 that bombed when fully fit
Babylon Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I doubt you could name any to be honest who have been great players at Leicester and then bombed out somewhere else. Maybe DJ is not scoring loads of goals still playing well you cant deny the facts along with my other comments. Why has he got to name great players who left and bombed? Your original post said nothing about great players. You mentioned Gradel (average right winger), DJ (average striker) and Varney (journeyman who has never even been at leicester, so don't know why he's mentioned). All if whom either did very little here, or didn't even play here. Players comparable to those you mention are the O'Gradys, Petrescu, Wright, Dodds etc etc who go on to do very little, or only achieve at a lower level. As for managers Mark McGee, Martin Allen and many others have done nothing after leaving us. Your point is complete nonsense.
Lesta Legend Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 due to injuries, pick 1 that bombed when fully fit I pity you , to change the parameters of an argument to suite your point, So what if he was injured. I don't think I'll bother wasting anymore time with you Babylon has said it all.
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I doubt you could name any to be honest who have been great players at Leicester and then bombed out somewhere else. Maybe DJ is not scoring loads of goals still playing well you cant deny the facts along with my other comments. I can quite easily. Max Gradel is having a purple patch after being average for Leeds well over a year and DJ had a reasonable loan spell at Blackpool but will be replaced by a better striker who can score more than 6 goals a season. As Babylon has said I don't really see why I should be naming "great" players who have left us and and bombed as they are totally out of context with the players you have mentioned but Joachim had his best years here undoubtidly, Grayson, Benjamin played his best football at Leicester that's for Certain, Collymores last hurrah was here. Mattock has more natural ability than either of the players you mentioned but has been a massive let down since moving to the Baggies, much as I hate to say it Sheehan has played alot better for us than he has anyone else. This is just off the top of my head.

DJ wasn't great for us and isn't really "playing well" for Blackpool in the Prem, either. I appreciate I've not seen their every game but when they've been on telly or MOTD he's always looked anonymous and somewhat carried - occasionally popping up to miss a sitter. I'm not a moron, I'll happily admit he did okay at the fore of a Championship side who created about ten thousand chances a game. But at Prem level? He's gash. Brum worked that out.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 due to injuries, pick 1 that bombed when fully fit I'll go with Stephen Andrew Guppy.
Captain... Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I'm gutted Fryatt is going, I'm more gutted that he never made it here than anything else, good luck to him (but not Hull), am I right in saying he is/was our longest serving player? I keep on getting flash backs to our relegation/doldrum years where we pretty much changed the whole first team every year. The starting line-up against Ipswich only had Dyer in it who has had more than one full season at the club (excluding King as he is yoof team). I know football has moved on and it's not just us, but I miss the days of turning up at the ground looking through the opposition team sheet and recognising the same players season in season out. Now I struggle to recognise the Leicester team.
Finnegan Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 Am I the only person that doesn't give a shit? He's not a terrible striker, he's not brilliant. He's just average at this level and while we'll miss him if we don't replace him - he isn't irreplaceable. He has no strong personality, has given us few lasting memories, was a part of the lowest point in our history and only ever really shone when we dropped to our worst ever league position. There is nothing memorable about anyone in our side at the moment. I wouldn't really care if we sold anyone other than King, Wellens and Abe and that's largely because of their functionality than because they're in any way beloved (although King and Abe are on a fast track to genuine favourites.) We've had some proper heroes at the club over the last twenty years; Elliot, Walsh, Izzet, Lennon Guppy, Taggart, the list is endless. I wouldn't put any of our current crop on there, yet.
sdb Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I wouldn't care too much if he wasn't joining a team in the same league as us. As it is, he's guaranteed to take points off us this season. Personally I think he'll start off really well for them. We know he's hit and miss (what strikers aren't?) but he does have good purple patches. His next one will come soon. I for one am dreading the threads that will follow

Hopefully will do some harm with his goals against other clubs who are in the play off places. I wish him well he has been a decent player for us.
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I was under the impression he did well at Celtic I wouldn't say he bombed, that's about as far as I'll go though!

I'm with you darling. I will always remember him scoring against Villa in the League Cup though (which set up the away tie at Stamford Bridge). Nearly fell from the upper tier while celebrating with Daggers. That was one of his (i think) two goals that season.

Daggers Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I'm sure none of you need this confirming, it's kind of obvious - but he's definitely out of here. Bye Matty.
Bert Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 How many of the gullible idiots believed that "willing to stay and fight for my place" tosh? His attitude this season has been shit, he's been a decent servant though.

But for guarantees of playing and value of contract offers he'd have gone well before this.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I was under the impression he did well at Celtic Played 33 times in 3 years, according to Wikipedia. Sounds like he bombed.

That was one of his (i think) two goals that season. this idolisation comes with time and the winning of trophies though (including promotions). we could have easily won promotion last season, but it just didn't go our way. I think if players like Howard and king had scored in the playoff final, and got us promotion then they would be well on their way to being considered heroes like elliot and co. I would like us to find a stable squad that we can get used to over a couple of years. its hard to picture this at the moment though with our loan defence and misfiring forwards. midfield three seem like the most promising for a regular place over the coming years although i could see wellens getting replaced by the next lionel messi
