I keep getting targeted ads on here and on the LM site saying stuff about the "benefits" of drinking olive oil every day.

I don't click on them but I was wondering if anyone has and what the benefits are, if any. I try to avoid clickbait.

Don't know personally, sorry.

But what will the future of the NHS potentially hold?

Reckon some services will charge patients to use them.

I can see post discharge treatments such as physiotherapy being a likely target.

I'm not going to get further involved in a deeper discussion.

If I may ask, what was the cultural background of the employer?

When I was working some Muslim and/or Sikh households would ask us to remove our footwear on entry. It was rare as they regarded us as an exception, but we were obliged by service policy to ask about removing boots before entering the house.

Slightly different, we got a plumber in (from a local business) to replace a faulty valve on an over the bath shower. He arrived and it had been raining a little during the day and the ground was wet.

He came in, boots on. Walked upstairs, boots on. Stood in the bath, boots on. Couldn't fix the shower as he hadn't got the part. He left saying he'd source one. I phoned the company and told them not to bother and explaining why.

We had to clean the bath and buy stuff to clean the stair carpet.

Never gonna use them again.

As a plumber myself and I turn up on a job for the first time i always remove my shoes. You get customers saying "oh dont bother i need to hoover anyway" or "we have dogs so it wont make a difference" Probably if he worked for a company the famous 'health and safety' came into it so he cant remove his footwear. It does make me laugh though when tradespeople put on overshoes upon entering a property but then keep them on when fetching tools from the van or walking around outside, whats the point in that.

Going to Manchester for a concert on Monday at the Mayfield Depot which is opposite Piccadily station apparently. Is there somewhere to park up outside manchester and catch the train in? Or is it easier to park round there. Never been Manchester so not sure what the craic is tbh

Free parking at Parrs Wood tram terminal, go in that way.

I get where you’re coming from, but this was a white family. The plumber probably didn’t give his boots a second thought!  My ex employer turned out to be a serious gas lighter, shame because her son was a nice kid.

I always take off my shoes when entering a customers house. It's easier than making a mistake and getting something on a carpet.

Why is this thread full of answers? Don't people know this is the "questions" thread? Shouldn't every single sentence in this thread end with a question mark?

Is there an official app for phone locator for android phones?   I believe Apple has an official app for that but it is not clear whether if that is the case for Android phones?

Don't know if it's just a Xiaomi app but mine has FindHub.

I think Google does it too, as well as FindMyPhone.

Seems to be based on manufacturer rather than Android OS itself. I've got Samsung's SmartThings that has it.

Bingo.   Just downloaded the app,  looks like a massive bloatware but should do the trick.

The composition of olive oil, and some other oils, is healthier than that of lard and dripping. Partly to do with the polyunsaturated fatty acids content and partly the content of phenolic compounds. The downside is the cost, so use it in moderation.

House question!

We've started to see water come through the grout in between our tiles. And this morning noticed small water marks on the wall above the skirting board not far from where it is on the tiles.

Newbuild house, but we're the 2nd owners.

Have contacted NHBC, but wondered if anyone else knew what it could be? Is it likely to be very serious? Easy fix?

Worrying to see but trying not to worry too much without knowing the extent of the issue...

That could take a while, I'd be getting a plumber in to take a look. Water will be coming from somewhere it's not supposed to be (sorry being captain obvious)

You've probably got a leak somewhere.

When you say you can see water coming through the grout what exactly do you mean? If the grouting has failed and water is getting in to the back of the tiling then that water will find its way out somewhere. If the damp patch is near to where the potential leak is then there is a good chance the 2 are connected. Either way you need to get the grouting scrapped out and renewed before the plasterboard behind the tiles starts to get damp as this could lead to the tiles starting to come loose and cause quite a big job if left untreated.

I wouldn't say the grouting has failed per se; none of the tiles appear loose.

But every now and then we see water seeping in on top of the grouting. Its only in two specific places (the one near the wall), and then in a separate area in our cloakroom/downstairs WC about 2-3 metres away.

We're hoping NHBC get back to us soon (!).

If not, would you suggest contacting a plumber straight away, and seeing if we can claim back through NHBC or home insurance?
