ajthefox Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 Who the feck has been voting for Logan? I hope all 7 of you were joking.
ScouseFox Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 I wasn't, he's in form, 4 clean sheets in his last 6 behind what was Britain's leakiest defence Not to mention 2 penalty saves and 2 motm performances

Now I can finally see the light, unless... oh no wait it's not a light, that's just his hair
Darkon84 Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 Ive always slated Logan, but in all honesty, hes doing a great job at the moment. Still NEVER going to be good enough for us though. If only we could find a way of merging Ricardo and Weale (Weird Science style), we might have a half decent Championship keeper.

Hopefully someone's actually invented the teleporting machine from The Fly Then we'd have a long range shot stopper (Ricardo) Who can catch (Weale) And doesn't dither coming out or staying on his line (Weale) Along with quick distribution (Ricardo)
lcfc_jme Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 I don't buy all this rubbish about Weale being some superb 'keeper in the air. He is prone to looking just as shaky coming to claim the ball as Ricardo is when he punches. I wouldn't exactly describe Weale as a commanding goalkeeper by any sense of the imagination and I'm sure he's been very lucky on more than one occasion thanks to rash and poor decision-making on his part, or through some form of bad handling. If he'd displayed the form he's shown for the most part this season throughout the last campaign, I'm not sure he'd have half as much of the rimming he's getting.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 I voted for Weale but he still cant save a long range shot to save his life so to speak, like people have suggested maybe the best of both Ricardo and Weale would be good (well if they can make dolly the sheep theres gotta be a chance right? )
Kent Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 I think ideally you'd want a 'none of the above' option, or at least I would anyway. Logan just isn't generally experienced/good enough to play for us, Weale is a fairly consistent keeper but his communication is poor, his long range shot stopping is a bit suspect and his distribution isn't great. Ricardo is poor when coming for long balls & set pieces and a bit of a bomb scare with the ball at his feet however his distribution is arguably the best out of all of our keepers and his experience is huge. The way I see it, they've all got their flaws and I wouldn't be surprised if we have someone different from all three of those between the sticks next year. If that does happen then I can't see them extending Ricardo's contract either unless Weale gets bought by another club (unlikely, but who knows).
Reborn Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 Ideally a new first team stopper comes in the summer. Personally I'd be delighted with someone like Smithies or Westwood, or perhaps Joe Murphy but admittedly the latter is Football Manager Scouting. As for where that leaves the 3 mentioned keepers. Weale: I like the guy, but to me he oozes mediocre Championship 'keeper, and that isn't what we should be aiming for seeing as next year is the year we should be making waves. Either get rid, or if he's happy to benchwarm keep him because he'd be more than an adequate back up, and I can't imagine he's on loads of money. Ricardo: I think he's a good keeper, but he's a confidence player and a run of games is what he needs. If he isn't going to be first choice I would suggest cutting ties as he's getting on a bit an' all. Logan: Loyal Servant but perhaps not cut out for this level. Would be great as a back up, but I don't see how long he's prepared to wait to be playing regularly, and if Weale is happy on the bench he's the better option. Perhaps a loan to a lower Champ team or a top L1 team to see if he can cut it, and if not, some exposure won't hurt his sale value come 12/13 season.
sphericalfox Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 Anybody got Ricardo's or Chris' email address? Goalkeeping tips
Foxhateram Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 Anybody got Ricardo's or Chris' email address? Goalkeeping tips Neither of the keepers communicate with the defense effectively and it is this that is the problem. Both keepers have positive's and negatives, i personally prefer Weale because he communicates better than Ricardo, SOMETIMES, Then again Ricardo always looks more agile and able to distribute quickly which i think is important if your going to play the passing game that we do. I can see why Sven has a headache as both have major floors, but also have major plus points. Hard to pick really. Both are average unfortunately, and i am ashamed to say that because I thought Weale was amazing last season, but this year he seems so inconsistent. Weale > Ricardo because of the communication thing! Ricardo cannot speak English, and pointing does not cut it with me. Overall though i Do think we need a new keeper, a keeper that is assertive and is not afraid to organise the men in front of him, and can be understood by his team mates. in the mould of Joe Hart, or Paddy Kenny (on a good day)

Wymsey Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 Where's Stuart Taylor these days? I rated him highly when he was on loan with us a while back.
Houdini Logic Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 You could pick any of the three to start and it wouldn't really make much of a difference. Probably ont a good thing
ozleicester Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 D - none of the above however, if pressed.... Ricardo > Weale > Logan
Father Ted Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 Logan: Loyal, passionate, has a presence. Big kick on him (better distribution than Weale), good shot stopper and can catch a ball. Always been made a scapegoat in unfortunate instances.
Bugg Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 My vote is for Joe Lewis. Decent and young. He is not decent. He is appalling, I spoke to a Peterborough fan and apparently he lets soft goals go in all the time.
Fox92 Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 There all as bad as each other. I voted Ricardo though because I like his quick balls to the full back so we can play football and go forward instead of Weale just lumping it long which puts us under pressure because it comes straight back. We need a new goalkeeper. End of.
sdb Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 Anyone but Logan. But ideally none of them. Weale is the pick of the bunch I guess.
There's only one Izzet Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 I like Weale the most out of all the keepers we have, but we need to remember he was shaky all of last season. Credit where it's due, when Sven first came in and Weale seemed under a lot of pressure to succeed, he did play well. We need a good solid keeper for next year, but who?
LCFCmatt Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 Rogerio Ceni? Screw him, Gally's still taking set pieces
