City_4_Life Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 If Akinibiyi had been an undisclosed fee then it would've all been different. Taylor obviously knew he was getting a bargain, So he let everyone know what the price was.
TopTableFox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I can see this saga dragging on right up to the end of the summer transfer window. If Sven wants Maynard then he will be happy to wait for him if it takes that long. It all depends on Maynard himself - the longer it drags on the more worried I would be being a BCFC fan, because if he was going to sign a new deal and is happy to stay then it would have been done and dusted by now. BCFC are desperate not to loss him for nothing next year - if he does not sign, then he is availble to the highest bidder! Could make our second home match of the season interesting (BCFC on 17/08). Good things come to those who wait!
bcfc1897 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 1) I was winding you up. You bit. Thanks. 2) If you had actually read my previous posts you'd recognise that if there's one thing I bore on about, it's the fact that we have little idea of the quality of other Championship players, because of the limited opportunity to actually see them beyond twice a season. 3) The more I think about it, the more I think our squad is worth about £20m on the current market. But, such is the oddball nature of the transfer market, it's difficult to generalise. I'm sorry for wasting your time, sir. Not at all, I was replying in kind. But you were correct in saiying that Maynard is worth more to us than a third of the sum total of our squad, I don't think any sane BCFC supporter would disagree. But he really is that good.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 In Sven :sge: we trust. Come on svennis strut your stuff and sign him up
Bellend Sebastian Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Yeah and look how that ended up!! I don't remember. My brain has blocked the memory, like it would if you saw someone getting killed or something
lestajigs Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 How many pages do we think this thread will make? Errr 88??
Clarkielcfc Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 too many, really dont think we are going to sign him, me personally would much rather have the yak, but hey ho, trust our :sge:
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 How many pages do we think this thread will make? 91 . . . . . .gunna be sorted by tomorrow afto latest
Finnegan Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 yet you've increased you bid twice............. Because we can, not because we have to. Our board are essentially saying "sod it, this is what we can afford, we don't want to hang around in this league, take it now or wait and lose out." There are other strikers we can sign, there AREN'T other clubs willing to pay any great sum of money for Maynard. It's all supply and demand. As I said, kiddo, you're an idiot if you think that your club ACTUALLY has all the cards here.
Wymsey Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Who gives a flying duck how many pages this'll end up with!
dayday Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Taylor obviously knew he was getting a bargain, So he let everyone know what the price was. Peter Taylor openly admitted that he had payed well over the odds for Ade....at the time he reckoned there was a shortage of high profile strikers,so paid up what Wolves wanted.

TopTableFox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/137223-leicester-city/ a little light reading from our friends in the south-west on our chances of promotion next season. I think this Maynard speculation is really winding them up!
Jon the Hat Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I find it very hard to believe we had made 3 bids without a quiet word of encouragement from someone connected with the player.

Spiritwalker Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I'm now convinced this is going to happen. Apparently he is refusing to sign the new contract on offer at BC. The most likely reason for this is that his head has been turned. As we are the only club to have made an official bid it would be fair to assume he would be interested in joining us. If this is the case then its a matter of when not if ( and how much).
MC Prussian Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 http://www.otib.co.u...leicester-city/ a little light reading from our friends in the south-west on our chances of promotion next season. I think this Maynard speculation is really winding them up! I still don't really know whom THEY have signed so far. How many new players? 3? A dubious winger from a now-relegated Championship club, Ryan Taylor and oooh Neil Kilkenny.
The Doctor Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I still don't really know whom THEY have signed so far. How many new players? 3? A dubious winger from a now-relegated Championship club, Ryan Taylor and oooh Neil Kilkenny. to be fair to brizzle, Neil Kilkenny could absolutely rape this league. He won't, but at this point it could still happen.
CosbehFox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Would Crewe get their % of any add ons to initial fee? Yes and there's been suggestions Brizzle still owe Crewe some money....
Babylon Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I still don't really know whom THEY have signed so far. How many new players? 3? A dubious winger from a now-relegated Championship club, Ryan Taylor and oooh Neil Kilkenny. It's nice to know there is a bunch of fans who seem even more deluded than our own. They think we have no chance, but they have a good chance. Cookoo cookoo!! If they had signed Danns and Nugent on frees they would now value them at £5m a piece!!!
Itsthejoeker Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 'To be honest, St ledger massively overrated as is danns,(rather have Killkenny, Nugents ok nothing better and Schmeichel iv'e not seen enough of. He's got to get a new squad to gel together. I would be surprised if they hit the ground running'
