Kasper Schmeichel - COMPLETE

Sven will have already spoke to him on the phone and sorted wages terms etc so he will need to have a medical and pass it! He's Sven's love child!

First glance I interpreted that as him not wanting to come, but I agree with some others on this, that he's just trying to sweeten the Leeds fans. We can offer him a bigger wage and he also gets on well with Sven, so I can't imagine him being too disappointed to join us if he does.

 that's what I also think.

His statement from Twitter...

On Monday 20th June 2011, @kpschmeichel1 said:

I am putting out this statement now, but let me be clear that I have not signed with any other club, and as far as I am concerned I am still a Leeds United player.

Statement.

At the end of the season Leeds United and I both made a commitment to honour the last year of my contract and try to win promotion with Leeds United.

Therefore it is with great disappointment that I have learned that Leeds United have accepted an offer from Leicester.

I want to put on record that I have never asked to leave the Leeds United, nor did I reject an offer for a new contract, since one was never put to me.

I was enjoying being a Leeds United player and was looking forward to winning promotion this season with the club.

I have spoken to the manager Simon Grayson and he has made it clear to me, that, in spite of having played well for him, this is something he believes is a good deal for Leeds United.

I have been put in a very difficult situation and will spend some time considering my options for my future.

Funny that. Apparently Grayson told the Leeds website: "We spoke to Kasper's agent at the end of the season about a contract extension and it was apparent that it was going to be difficult."

Quote off BBC teletext.

Sounds like Kasper wanted away if Grayson is to be believed. I guess it's somewhere in the middle. Personally if he signs I would be very happy. I've been more concerned about a GK and the defence than all the talk about every striker going!

I think Kasper wants to be respected as a player and not seen as any money grabbing player, plus he's also got big expectations on his shoulders from his old man. Like most have said, I wouldn't read too much into it, I persume Kasper will just want to leave on good terms or as good as possible terms with Leeds fans.

Wouldn't read too much into that, he's trying to keep the Leeds fans sweet.

He'll do a Pearson and release a statement on Wednesday saying; I was surprised/disappointed when Leeds accepted Leicester's offer, but once I came here and saw how good the set-up was and how much they wanted me, it was an easy decision to make.

Placates the fans of both clubs, job done. He's hardly going to come out and say Grayson's a cock, Leeds are going nowhere and I can't wait to leave is he?

I interpret his statement to mean that he is shocked to be leaving leeds, hasn't set his mind on coming to Leicester yet and that he wants a premiership club to put in a better offer.

@leeparry101 no i dont think so

The rules were changed about 5 years ago.

If he hasn't played for the national team in a competitive game then he can switch to England especially as he has been living here for more than. 6 years. Although judging by the other part of your post he would not want to!

He won't get first team football with a Premiership side. Not at this minute.

Perhaps for a club in another country?

Seems like he was settled there and feels hurt to be pushed out.

Posssibly another part to this... players lose their loyalty bonus of they ask for a transfer.. stating publicly you have not asked for one means you probably still get it.

He'll not play for England. Wants to follow in his dads footsteps.

I think he wants to walk away on a free, he'd agreed with them to run his contract down. They have now thrown a spanner in the works accepting our bid.... that's how it reads to me.

Just as we were getting excited and we thought it was done and dusted he comes out with a statement.

Bollocks <_<
