Libertine Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Goddamn our team could be unreal this year. Hope it doesn't take too long to gel. Seems to be a good spirit already anyway.
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Fourth_Official Fourth Official Gelson Fernandes's possible transfer to Leicester is also progressing smoothly #LCFC
MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Well, I hope Johnson can get his career back on track with us - Manchester City fans are feeling just the same. Now a striker and a winger, please. SVEN!
StanSP Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I do love our team this season. And there's still more to come!
Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Well, I hope Johnson can get his career back on track with us - Manchester City fans are feeling just the same. Now a striker and a winger, please. SVEN! I thought were signing Andros Townsend on loan from Spurs
MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I thought were signing Andros Townsend on loan from Spurs Not yet confirmed - only Bert has mentioned anything in that direction.
Jakemoore Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Shopping list - Long, Fernandes, Townsend and Johnson (I doubt we'll get Long though)
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Even the most pessimistic of LCFC fans have got to admit that it's looking rosy. You look through the squad list and on paper I don't see how anyone can challenge us. The season where Portsmouth walked it with us following suit springs to mind.

Their midfield could be/is as strong as ours.

Games are not won on paper, they`re won on the pitch.. Maynard or Yakubu would ease my "pessimism" This is the strongest Championship i can remember seeing. Its going to be harder than you think..

MGLCFC Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Whilst there is no doubting West Ham will be strong, I think they may see a lot of chopping and changing from the opening game to the end of the transfer window. I like Sven's signings, most are proven in this league and others he knows of from previous jobs. I genuinely believe with Fernandes and one of Yakubu or Maynard we will be the strongest squad on paper - whether we can manage to be the best team on the pitch only time will tell.
Guest Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Let's not overrate West Ham etc... They were relegated from the Prem and the bottom half of the prem is filled with so so teams all of whom could have to battle in the championship.

They've got the Premier League's top-scoring midfielder from last season in their squad, as well as being littered with several other internationals. I'm not counting Parker because it's virtually guaranteed he'll be off somewhere, but him aside they still have Green (possibly may go still), Faye, Tomkins, Taylor, Noble, Collison, O'Neil, Cole and Picquionne. That's not even mentioning the likes of Faubert, Ilunga, Hines and Barrera, all of whom would still fit into the better teams in this division. They're being rated because they've got the best team.

Granted, but I can't help thinking they'll perform better now that Sam Allardyce is in charge instead of the useless Avram Grant. How he keeps getting work in the PL, I will never know. He's the new Souness. Then again, there's still time for them to lose some of their best players to PL clubs. I'm sure they'll still be up there challenging for the title in any case. I would have said Brum would be another team to look out for, but now it looks like they're having to sell off a lot of players to stave off administration.
martyn Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 I'd be tremendously happy to have Barrera here, be it on loan or a permanent. Think he'll perform absolutely splendidly in the Championship assuming he gets the appropriate playing time.
hackneyfox Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 game time What a horrible American term. Nowt personal Martyn, loads use it on here.

They were still relegated and there are a lot of average teams who weren't. Too many people seem to think that Wham are sure to get top position and the rest of us are just playing for one automatic spot. Seems people thought the same about Leeds the year we won division 1 (and then they didn't even get promoted).
Raw Dykes Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 game time What a horrible American term. Nowt personal Martyn, loads use it on here. I could care less if you hate on the winningest soccer terms. I'm loving it 24/7 when the offense gets in the zone and oftentimes gets the game ball in the onion bag. You do the math. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to walk down a sidewalk to a parking lot and drive down the freeway to a gas station where I'm going to blow off Colon Powell. Hope he don't get mad. I was trying to be funny using so many Americanisms all at once, but the joke's on me - I just burped a bit of sick into my mouth.
