cc_star Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Following on from Brighton's signing of CMS, seemingly from under our noses there's some unconfirmed details spilling out in Brighton's forums They're saying that Sven never made himself available to meet with CMS which may have been a contributory factor in him deciding that we weren't for him Whereas Bloom, (their chairman) & Gus Poyet went overboard to make him feel welcome, rolling the red carpet out selling him the dream of promotion this season... He was very impressed with their plans, their enthusiasm and other transfer targets they were lining up for acquisition. So perhaps the morons saying he lacked ambition for spurning us need to be a bit more aware before piping up to slag someone off for choosing someone else, or at least get their reasons correct. Obviously I have no way of knowing whether the Sven part of what they're saying is correct, but it does seem our club's dealings with him may have been lacking from the other info I can pick up If that is the case, hopefully it gives them a kick up the arse when dealing with Maynard/Mills etc, if they're still on... you know get the red carpet out, make sure Sven is available for a quick handshake and to share his vision of Premier League football etc (Also West Ham pulled out late-on after failing to match the 'upfront' part of the transfer fee we had offered, hopefully that's the case with all the signings both of us are going for

MC Prussian Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Maybe Mackail-Smith sees more of a chance of being a regular starter with Brighton. And maybe the scenery's a bit better dawn sarf.
MrSpaM Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 CMS's interview on the bbc site seems to back this up somewhat
FrankieADZ Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 there he is gonna be a "big fish" ;thery'll certainly need a good few goals from him to survive this season. Brighton made him feel wanted then going by what ur saying...and we know most players like to feel wanted
Kent Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Considering when Schmeichel signed he said he was impressed by how much they showed him that they wanted him I doubt it's down to Sven or anyone at the clubs negligence. I'm sure they want to land their targets as much as we do.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 He just thought that with who leicester are linked with, he will just be a backup whereas at Brighton he is the main player
sdb Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Wouldn't have thought that's true. School boy error on our part if it's the case.

Obviously I have no way of knowing whether the Sven part of what they're saying is correct This still doesn't do it for me. Put it this way, if McDonalds Managing Director and Ronald McDonald himself came knocking on my door, to tell me I was the best thing since sliced bread.... I wouldn't go and work in McDonalds. I think the key thing is that Poyet is going to build a team around him. That gives him some long term security. I'm sure we wouldn't have gave him them kind of assurances.... And rightly so. Good luck to the lad, but one player is never going to be bigger than our club. Onwards and upwards.
Daggers Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Maybe he saw a more attractive package in Brighton Nice.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Maybe he saw a more attractive package in Brighton Enough with the gay jokes already!
yorkie1999 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Or maybe we already knew he was going to brighton but used him to twist somebody elses arm as in " look we want you here but we're still looking at other players"

Agreed he certainly wouldn't have been a big name here or has well respected while at Brighton he is already a legend .
B52 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Thank god we didn't get him. And now I know I can thank Sven for it too. Maynard is a much better player so I hope Sven's rolling out the red carpet ....
Babylon Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 They're saying that Sven never made himself available to meet with CMS When Fry said this time last week that he was going to have talks with Sven he mentioned him being away. He was, he was in Thailand on behalf of King Power launching some coaching academy. Somewhat hard to make yourself available to meet when you are on the other side of the world. Hardly Svens fault.
The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Sven only has so much time. The players are back in pre-season training and we must have 30 or 40 targets in mind of which we may buy three or four. He has chosen Brighton and good luck to him. He's no concern of ours now though, onwards and upwards.
phillthefox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 It seems to me he prefers to be a big fish in a small pond than part of a bigger picture like he would be at city or west ham, i think his decision shows lack of ambition as brighton wont be anywhere near promotion to the prem and be back in league 1 in 2 seasons which is CMS preferred level from what i see. Bring on bigger and better signings

Couldn't we have sent that lookalike bloke to meet CMS?
Marmite Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Why are we still talking about CMS ?? We have spoke about the same thing over and over again and its boring, he did not want to join us full stop, lets move on. Anyone would think Wayne Rooney has turned us down the way some people go on. He was a league one player who is unproven in the championship, get over it
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Sven met him on Friday, ....and because he did'nt commit ,lost interest ???? Maybe it was Sven who pulled the plug .....
Maybes Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Basically said he will be their main man. Either that or he is gay and looking forward to strutting his stuff in Brighton.
jonathan_ross Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Outwagious decision of Cwaig mackail-smith. Bwighton will be fighting the dwop this season. Maybe we didnt have 3 million to shell out.
