Every video I have looked at with OH training in it has half a dozen Man U fans claiming he owes it to Fergie and the United faithful to play for them free next season. Does that mean Tunch will play for free after proving his fitness?

:dunno:

Still worth a look at him. If he was fit then he would be a certain starter. I agree a pay as you play or at least a short-term deal would be worth considering for a player of his calibre.

Posted

If the Manure medical staff thought he could still play regularly he would not have been released.

He hasn't had injuries, he has a knee condition that will never get fully better.

Who ever wastes their money signing him will be paying a fortune for a crock.

Isn't it more just to show his commitment and to remind clubs that he's still training himself and still wants to play...

Maybe so, but my point still stands....

His wages would be huge. No thanks.

I'm not particularly for or against this, just throwing my 2 pennies in.

Surely a crocked player who's advertising himself on youtube doesn't have the right to ask for huge wages. Not even big wages. I think it now becomes almost irrelevant that he's just left Man U and that he used to play for England.

He's got long term problems that have a good chance of reoccurring. He has to take a reality check when speaking to clubs (if he does) and realise what they'd be taking on if they employed him.

Can he really command high wages now though??? Like who is going to pay that?

He could find himself pricing himself out of joining any club tbh.

20-30k is within our reach and he should be dam happy getting that considering he hasn't played in so long.

I think he would be quality if fit and obviously has something to prove buttttttttt his knees are fooked! No thanks

I personally feel that Hargreaves should respect what his body has telling him loud and clear for the past few years and call time on his career.

He's already a millionaire, has Bundesliga titles and a Champions League winners' medal in his trophy cabinet and can take pride in the fact he was England's best player in what turned out to be his last international tournament. He won't achieve any more than that, and could very easily damage himself to the extent that he either needs knee replacements or a wheelchair if he blindly soldiers on.

I respect his determination and sympathise with the notion that he doesn't want to make a difficult call to end his career, but he'll do himself no good. If I were Sven, I'd politely decline Hargreaves and advise him to take his coaching badges if he desperately wants to stay in the game.

It's all quite a sad situation really.

Perhaps he's here about a coaching role.

Not heard anything on this, and I'd personally say it's a non-starter. We've got 5 central midfielders and Hargreaves would command a decent wage. Sven's being cautious on Tunch, Hargreaves injury record is miles worse than Tunch.

This is a player that lasted just four minutes after his latest comeback.

good! cheers.

That wouldn't be a huge surprise.

He knows Sven very well, would be working under one of the best coaches in the game and our first-team coach has just upped sticks to Stockport.

A player-coach role a la Chris Powell with Hargreaves filling in once in a blue moon might not be a terrible deal for anyone, but he's most likely not up to a full playing role.

That's like telling a successful business man to stop investing - these people have it in their blood, it's what makes them successful and why stop if there's even the slightest chance you can carry on?

For me I see a one year pay as you play option actually being a good move for him (not neccessarily with us). If he is confident in himself that he can get through a full season then he'd have a lot of interest from clubs trying to sign him on a permanent contract. Even the worst case scenario would be that he can't play, but still has the benefit of being in an environment that'll encourage rehabilitation and training.

I like the idea of this. All parties would benefit, but at the moment, im keeping calm and just assuming nothing will occur

He's not interested in a coaching role. Exchanged a few messages and there's a slight possibility of something happening.

Of course it'd be a difficult decision to make, his determination to get back into the game shows just what a superb professional he is and what an immense asset he would be if fit. If the Owen Hargreaves of 2006 were on offer to us, half of Lincolnshire would be paddling in my semen. He isn't that player any more sadly, he's had multiple serious knee injuries; worse even than Tunchev or Owen who have been dismissed many a time as crocks.

We joke pithily that a pay-as-you-play deal wouldn't cost much, but from the point of view of the player, he wouldn't earn much either. As Bert says, his last big comeback lasted four minutes. I'm pretty sure some of the experiences on the virginity thread lasted longer than that, I know mine did .

He could well be risking his future health, fitness even earning potential if he carries on. The body can only take so much and he may well only be one twisted knee or a high tackle away from being a wheelchair user. That might sound dramatic but his injury record isn't just bad, it's genuinely tragic and suggests there is something very seriously wrong that even the best osteopaths can't do much about.

Yeah I thought that, why post videos of fitness work outs If he's just going to become a coach. If he comes that means there will be 7 cm's maybe a couple are walking the other way if he comes?
