If he can get back to something approaching full fitness he would be awesome in the Championship. I get the feeling he will feel he has something to prove after so many doubts about his fitness and being discarded. Hard to believe he is still only 30 years old.

A fully fir Hargreaves would piss all over any midfielder we currently have at the club. Worth taking the risk if he can prove his finess.

Good luck to the bloke - trying his best to show/prove that he is not currently crocked, and can at least appear to train hard.

Doesn't prove he can take a good old "Championship" tackle without getting crocked again, but I hope he gets a deal somewhere.

Quality player when not injured. Has been so unlucky. Would love to see him fit and in a City shirt.

If he's fit it would obviously be a good signing but that must be the biggest if ever.

Those videos mean f'all and the fact he's even done them stinks of desperation to me.

A pay as you play would be fine, but otherwise it's not worth it.

Yep agree with A J if he was still capable of playing top flight football one of the prem clubs would have snapped him up by now and he would not have had to try to sell himself on you tube ( bit sad really ) still he may prove a lot of people wrong but i doubt it .

There is a big question mark on his body not his ability.

I dont think its sad at all, on the contrary it shows resilience and a willingness to better himself. If he was still in contract with utd people would think he was awesome for showing us how he trains. Plus look at the interest it has provided him with... I say well done mate good for you. :appl:

It will surely do us no harm at all to have him join us for pre-season training and some friendlies. No harm at all.

Well if the beeb are saying he's on his way ill be really chuffed he still can dominate midfields when fit

Well if the owners want a superstar signing. This could be the one without costing a premier league transfer sum. With that comes the risk everyone is talking about. No club will sign Owen without a very extensive Pre season play and activity. as well as a very thourgh medical exam. If he were to submit himself to this sort of trial and got through it ok, then it is a no brainer, if not, then everyone knows including Hargreaves that his career is likely over. This is his last chance. Whether he takes that chance with us or some one else this is it for him. A one year deal at good wages with us could resurect his career.

This will purely be a big signing because of the comeback, if he see's the articles about Sven holding the door until he walks through, I think we have a chance :)

We definitely have the bargaining powers on our side. He currently doesn't have a club, we could ask him to play our friendlies, then if he manages to stay fit offer him a pay as you play deal.

We have nothing to lose

I'm not sure about this.

No-one would argue that, if fully fit, Hargreaves would dominate this division and would be an epic signing.

If fully fit.

The question is - will he ever be fully fit again? There was a good article about this on F365 earlier this week.

Man Utd are regarded as having one of the best medical teams in the game (see the way they got Valencia back so quickly from a broken leg), and they are still crying out out for a classy centre-mid who can pressurise opposition midfields. If there was even a chance that Hargreaves would get back to full fitness anytime soon, then Man Utd wouldn't have released him.

Even if he would only be fit for 15-20 games, they would have given him another year (after all they renewed Michael Owen's contract and he hardly plays).

So Man Utd know something that maybe we don't, and it's probable that word has got out. Otherwise, if there was a chance of him reaching his past level, then he would have offers from several Champions League clubs by now.

I know people are saying sign him on a 'pay-as-you-play' deal, but in reality deals of this type are rare, certainly for the top players. Hargreaves' definition of 'pay-as-you-play' would probably still involve a guaranteed £15k-£20k per week, plus the same again per appearance.

Don't get me wrong, Sven isn't stupid and neither are the board, they will demand extensive medical checks before committing to anything. But i'd be very surprised if he passed a medical, and even if he did, it would be a matter of time before he broke down again.

Sadly, I think Hargreaves is finished.

Ability wise he's one of the best defensive midfielders in the world just 3-4 years ago. He's still only 30 and if somehow he can overcome this horrible, horrible time he's had then it would be embarrassing to have him in our team at this level. It's comic book stuff, it's like editing Championship Manager 99/00 and whacking a superstar in your team, BUT.........................

I'll let Sven decide.

what would he have to lose by training with us, even if he wasn't prepared to drop to Championship level he'd be in structured training and any one interested could pick up the phone and speak to Sven about him and how he looks

I'm pretty sure Sven knows about his injuries and if he thinks he can return to full fitness and it's worth a deal, then that's fine with me.

I am like a kid in a sweet shop here, Hargreaves, I heard this rumour a few weeks back and thought what a load of rubbish, but it looks like it might have legs. If we get him in on a pay as you play or something with a bit of risk assessment built in then we have pulled off another amazing bit of business, what a great time to be a Leicester City fan!

More than Hargreaves has got...

Hes not really dropping down is he ? he was let go from united a fair while back, he has the chance to go go clubs in the MLS or a premier league club, but if he decides that he wants to come to leicester, then you could be looking at a premier league outfit, what with hargreaves, mills, nugent, danns.

Premier league outfit being QPR? I dunno, he strikes me as the sort of lad that wouldn't work with Colin. The Sven factor is the key here. If we want him, I'd say we will get him.
