The Real Madrid effect...

Recommended Posts

Ok so I've just purchased a couple of tickets for the Real Madrid Match and it got me thinking, how is this match going to effect the newly assembled team? By the time we play the squad will of had a decent amount of time together and I think spirits will be relatively high, however I'm slightly concerned that we may be throwing the team to the lions.

On the one hand we may pull off one of the most suprising victories in pre-season history. On the other they may be absolutely trounced and I'm slightly concerned what effect this might have on a team that begins it's campaign a couple of weeks later, as I don't think a wining mentality can be underestimated, especially to a relatively new team.

Thoughts?

Its a showpiece friendly. They wont be too bothered by the result.

And i dont think madrid will go too hard on us with the amount of green were giving them.

as already posted....its a show piece friendly.....to get people to loads a ppl to come(then they wont be seen until City are doing well again <_< ) and to promote the Leicester/King Power Brand.

the results of the game wont have any effect on the season.

thats my view anyway.

Yeah it may not have an effect but surely I hope that the younger generation of City fans will be enticed into supporting their local team instead of the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd etc

i cant see any harm in playing a world class team pretty sure when real madrid played plymouth argyle pre season a couple of seasons back the score was only 1-0 to real madrid, although things did go alittle downhill for argyle afterwards :trumpet:

The players won't care if they're trounced. They'll only be bothered by their individual performance.

No-one cares about the result. If we win- brilliant, lose by a close margin- we'll have done well, get thrashed- thats what we're expecting!

If they win it'll be excellent for their spirits. If we're 1-0 down playing away in the winter months, they can use results like that to lift spirits.. However, if they lose I doubt they'll be that bothered. It is Real Madrid at the end of the day!

I can't wait to see what type of football we play against them, I loved our football last season despite not always getting the results, we just had so much flair!

I don't think we should be losing to a small club like Real Madrid to be honest, it would be a bit embarrassing.

Though, I have heard that Sven has been asked to go easy on them, so that might affect the result.

I'll be going into this game the same way I went into the man city games. As long as we don't embarrass ourselves, then anything more is a bonus.

I'm pretty sure the players will be the same too.

It'll be a good money spinner not just on the day but it will give the club exposure in other countries which = money.

Harlem Globetrotteresque.

This is exactly my thinking.

I wouldn't be surprised to see* Messi score only for a piece of elastic to pul the ball back to him so that he scores again... and again... and again.

So we'll lose 20-0

*not that I'm going.

When did Madrid sign Messi?

Go big or go home, and many other generic "up an atom [sic]" idioms.

Also, if we get a close result with Real we can go into other matches without fear, a mindset of if we can near equal one of the best teams on the planet we can surely show West Ham, Brum et al a thing or two.

We'll do pretty well but end up losing i reckon. There best players won't even be playing at 50% they wont want to over exert themselves before the season starts.

Hmm, I just complained about translatorprograms. Here is Tord Grip interviued by Aftonbladet in Sweden:

"Svennis" Leicester face Real Madrid

Tord Grip: "There will be folk festival in Leicester"

Sven-Goran Eriksson to Jose Mourinho.

The train duel becomes a reality when Leicester receives Real Madrid on July 30.

- It will be great fun, says, "Eriksson" sidekick Tord Grip to Sportbladet.

This week, the Leicester to London for pre-season play against Sirius, Enskede and Real Mallorca.

Then turn Sven-Goran Eriksson's men back to England again - to meet another "Real".

On July 30, visiting Real Madrid's King Power Stadium in Leicester.

- It will be great fun, it's not every day you get to meet Real Madrid, says, "Eriksson" right-hand man Tord Grip to Sportbladet.

"Saw it on the website"

- I saw it only at home, so I have no idea how they got through this, how it has become possible. But I rejoice - there will be folk festival in Leicester.

And it is set for a very interesting exercise duel: Sven-Goran Eriksson to Jose Mourinho.

- Yes, there are two great coaches. And both've won the Portuguese league several times. Sven-Goran won three times with Benfica, while Mourinho won two with Porto, so it speaks to "Svennis" advantage (laughter), said Grip.
