Raw Dykes Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Don't want Rowan Vine, he's rubbish! Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Salieri Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 he would grow on you surely though? Sounds like sour grapes to me.
hackneyfox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I recollect on that phone in that Miller was one of the targets I was quoting someone else, I didn't hear it. So that's Miller and Vine now?
Happy Fox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I was quoting someone else, I didn't hear it. So that's Miller and Vine now? We are not interested in Vine
smokey Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Do people not realise that we play a 4-3-3 formation these days. Ish would be great either side of a striker. Cutting in on the right or on the left with his left foot. And imagine the pace when we are on the counter attack. People getting too greedy now. This would be a great signing. I completely agree! If we played with just 2 up front i wouldnt be so sure but with us playing a 3 man attack Miller is spot on for this, think he will play mainly on left side but switching with other striker during play. If he does bring in the elusive 20 goal man in either Maynard or Long we will have some side!
superfox1980 Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Could be a decent signing, defo as an impact sub. If he has the appetite he's a handfull. Need a clinical finisher too though. Wouldn't mind someone like Carlos Vela on loan for the season.

Guest Col city fan Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 As per usual every body underwhelmed WHY?? REMEMBER WHO WE ARE ? WHERE WE ARE ? ( 2ND TIER ) This is a CHAMPIONSHIP FORWARD PROMOTED TWICE In two teams mostly as a sub with qpr (after lengthy inj , we was after him ,we wanted him then !! ) STARED for a WBA team who played great passing football CONCEEDING very few goals. IF we get him , I'll be happy People need to wake up and realise that we have to actully play games to win a league not just sign great players (for the standard we are playing at) going to be a long hard season ..... here's hoping eh! Good post... Brings some reality to the table.. Miller is a good player at this level and will only get better
Jaspa Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 We should go for him if the Long deal breaks down Arnt we tryna get a Madrid player on loan 2? Cb cover for Tunch(loan) or a striker to give a chance 2?
Nickfosse Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Fourteen goals in 68 matches (or a season and a half). I bet they'd rather have had Jeff Astle back! Seriously though, Sven must have his reasons. Perhaps he'll provide Nugent with 100 assists. All the Baggies I know are delighted with how things are going at the moment, though Astle remains a legend of course. They like him because before his injury he ripped defences to shreds with pace, power and driving runs not disimilar to Heskey under O'Neill. His goalscoring record never told the full story of his value to the team either. He would not be a replacement for Howard, totally differents styles, more a rival with Vasell I reckon. I did agree with you Thracian on your analysis of the Madrid game though our attacking options rely on our midfielders doing better than they did last Saturday.
Tielemans63 Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I'd be happy with Big Ish. He's pacy, strong and direct which is what we need. Don't forget that this time last year Shane Long's goal-scoring record wasn't exactly impressive - not many teams would have paid £2 million then, now he's worth £8 million (apparently). If Miller can get 15-20 goals then he's paid for himself. Oh and stop wine-ing on about Rowan Vine, he's a grape player
RowlattsFox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I spoke to a West Brom scout last season when we were linked, and he raved about him. But I'm unsure myself, on a loan I reckon i'd be happy enough but not £2m. Agree that he could be decent in the wide role, and maybe Sven sees him as the winger we need rather than the striker but is he not just a more expensive version of Dany N'Guessan?
Tielemans63 Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 but is he not just a more expensive version of Dany N'Guessan? That's harsh. Really Harsh. What's he done to you?
Happy Fox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 StringerSport Ian Stringer Apparently the Miller to #lcfc story is still running on Sky BUT there hasn't been a bid at this time (not to say there won't be)
Jace Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I would be ok with Sven signing Ishmael Miller providing its on the basis to stop forest buying him and that he will be walking around in a filbert fox costume on match days
Corky Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I don't think this would be a terrible signing, he'd be good to have in the squad.
Jaspa Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 StringerSport Ian Stringer Apparently the Miller to #lcfc story is still running on Sky BUT there hasn't been a bid at this time (not to say there won't be) Wtf is going on?? Any time we apparently put a bid in some 'ITK' pops out and disproves it. Really carnt wait till the end of the month
rico Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 he would grow on you surely though? heard hes a bit of a creep
Happy Fox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 chrislepkowski Chris Lepkowski Just to reiterate there have been no bids accepted by #wba for Miller from #nffc or #lcfc. Interest from Champ clubs remains. No more at mo
Guest MattP Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Have to love the "if he gets us 20 goals nexts season" He only has 16 in his career and the vast majority of those games he has been up front for a side going up where he gets a lot of chances, yes he is "big quick and powerful" (everything English football by now should of learnt to get away from watching Barcelona) but he is also an absolutely appalling finisher of a football, even the one goal he scored last year went through Weale. If Forest get him and we sign Maynard/Long anyone decent I will be very happy as its mean we have far far stronger than Forest in that area of the pitch as well as most others.
JimmyB Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Would be a decent squad player, no more than that. Also £2million seems a tad steep to me,
Guest MattP Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Would be a decent squad player, no more than that. Also £2million seems a tad steep to me, 2million on championship squad players, its getting madder.
tickler28 Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 I also agree with some other comments, overall it would be a good signing but like I said 20 goals might be an issue. Long, Maynard or someone else Keane or Holt would be better so fingers crossed Miller is one of two possibilities. People on here keep banging on about Long and Maynard....they are not coming?!?!?!........the Maynard saga has been laughable and am bored of it. He's clearly staying put so he can earn big buck wages on a free transfer next year and as for Long......the lad is set for the Premier League (read the reports) He is deciding between Newcastle, West Brom, Sunderland and Everton (what would you do??!). The fact remains in my opinion that when you play one solitary striker with two wingers/side strikers that main man needs to be big and burly (a but like Yakubu) Holt fits the bill but he's a donkey like Howard. At least Miller has a bit more class about him. If we get Jong Ton Tsae he would have to be used a second striker along with Holt, Miller, Howard. I trully believe that you can not put a medium build striker down the niddle of a 4 3 3 (look how Waghorn, Vassell and Fryatt failed)
Happy Fox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 @henrywinter Henry Winter @DanClarke1995 I asked Sven. He wants a prolific striker. Obvious candidate but others too
