oxford blue Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 There's a lot of stuff being written here that I simply cannot relate to, no matter how much I try. Liverpool Football Club, in their complete failure to admonish the detestable actions of their centre-forward and through their reluctance to rein in "King" Kenny's nonsensical ramblings, are the only club with anything to answer for in this whole debacle. I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if the owners will be seriously considering sacking Dalgish, as he is damaging the brand Liverpool. A lot of their income comes from selling rights around the world - especially Asian countries and the image that Liverpool has is in danger of being damaged. It's far easier to destroy a brand than create it.

Guest ttfn Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 I suspect the accusers were accusing on Evra's behalf, but that's just speculation of course. Don't see any signs of a smear campaign. These were cases that were looked at and thrown out by a supposedly respectable legal system. You just need to look at the amount of times someone like Emile Heskey or any other black footballer has been racially abused and compare it to the number of times Evra has been racially abused. He's either ridiculously unlucky, lying, or more likely provoking the incidents in some way and then using both the trigger happy way in which white people like to accuse white people of racism and the inability of white people to accuse black people of racism as a sword and a shield respectively. There was a black girl in my predominantly white school who was an expert at this. Everybody, and i mean everybody, could see right through it, but nobody could do a thing about it. What is more likely? 1) Evra was racially abused as a child in a culture that I (and I suspect you) have no real knowledge of, was involved in 2 incidents where third parties reported racist abuse of him and another where he reported the abuse (those 3 incidents coming over a 5 year period covering probably 250 games). OR 2) Evra made up racial abuse in his childhood to garner attention before the World Cup, convinced a fellow employee to put his reputation on the line by making up a story about a Chelsea groundsman racially abusing him, got hold of 2 deaf members of the public to write in and say that he had been racially abused and then completely contrived a story about Suarez using racially loaded language towards him (a story which I might add has been proven "on the balance of probabilities"). 1) what really gets on my goat is ferguson pointing the finger and saying things that are inciting trouble when he is no saint. 2) but the thing that is really getting on my nerves is there was no difference between saurez and john terry but the fa only ban saurez when terry should also have been banned for 8 games. why are the old farts at the fa got no balls to say to chelsea that terry shall not play until the court case is done . capello lost is job because the fa did not take action in the first place. 3) go back to the case in hand rasists have no part in football and society and 4) mr ferguson and mr dalglish keep foughts to yourself do not put it in the media. 5)for mr evra you are a wind up merchant and should be giving a fine for his antics at the end of the game 1) Agreed that Ferguson is no saint, but he's hardly the one "inciting" trouble in all of this. Liverpool's handling of the whole case has been absurd. 2) There is a difference between Suarez and Terry. Evra went to the referee and did not see fit to report the abuse to the police. The case therefore never went to court and the FA could take action as it saw fit. Terry's alleged abuse was spotted and reported by a member of the public to Hammersmith & Fulham police. Unfortunately, due to issues with contempt of court, Terry's case could not be heard by the FA. It's unfortunate, as I believe that a "footballing" punishment is probably more appropriate than a criminal one in this instance. 3) I think we're all agreed there. 4) It would be nice if they kept their thoughts to themselves but the fans demand answers. 5) A fine might be a little over the top for celebrating a win in what must have been a huge match for him personally. But it was stupid behaviour and he needs to be reprimanded.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Daglish was a right dick towards that SKY reporter shown on MOTD, no nned for it and doesnt gain anything from it apart from making himself look a tit.
Captain... Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 On Evra and Suarez, I thought the bit on MOTD showing the handshake from another angle, Evra clearly has his hand pulled in a lot more when Suarez is up to shake it, Suarez doesn't move his hand at all, he keeps it at the same height and level as he does for the rest of the handshakes, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh2GklvY7eQ Looking at that, I think if Evra hadn't reacted it would have looked like he refused Suarez's hand. Looking at that from a Liverpool perspective you could easily argue that Evra pulled his hand away and Suarez was the bigger man and just didn't react and went on to shake De Gea's hand. Suarez didn't pull his hand away. He doesn't look at Evra who is glaring at Suarez, his hand is there to be shaken and Evra doesn't shake it, then causes a load of fuss and makes himself look the victim.

Guest Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 According to many sources Suarez has now offered an apology for the hand shaking (or lack of it) incident
21st Century Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 According to many sources Suarez has now offered an apology for the hand shaking (or lack of it) incident The Liverpool striker Luis Suárez has issued an official apology for refusing to shake hands with Patrice Evra before Saturday's Premier League game with Manchester United."I have spoken with [Kenny Dalglish] since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong," Suarez told the club's official website. "I've not only let him down, but also the club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened. "I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions. I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football." Liverpool's managing director, Ian Ayre, also responded to the controversy, releasing a statement of his own. "We are extremely disappointed Luis Suárez did not shake hands with Patrice Evra before yesterday's game," he said. "The player had told us beforehand that he would, but then chose not to do so. "He was wrong to mislead us and wrong not to offer his hand to Patrice Evra. He has not only let himself down, but also Kenny Dalglish, his team-mates and the club. It has been made absolutely clear to Luis Suárez that his behaviour was not acceptable. "Luis Suárez has now apologised for his actions which was the right thing to do. However, all of us have a duty to behave in a responsible manner and we hope that he now understands what is expected of anyone representing Liverpool Football Club." Better late than never. Also not in person which is always suspicious whether he was forced to put this out by the club. But fair enough if he has.
HEGGSY Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Wolves have been shite today. Sacked in the morning!
Libertine Dream Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Wolves were absolutely awful, no idea, no plan, half the players didn't care. On the contrary West Brom played the game excellently and had they been more clinical first half could have had double figures.
HEGGSY Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Richard Dunne - One of the most prolific goalscorers against Man City with 7. 6 of those being OG's
Jimothy Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Richard Dunne scored 6 goals whilst playing for Man City, plus one goal against them for Villa, makes him one of the most prolific goalscorers against City in the Premier League. EDIT: Damn Heggsy, you beat me to it!
Kitchandro Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Heskey playing on the wing, just like the old days! McCarthy is struggling to justify that he's doing a good job at Wolves now.

Corky Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 If there's one game you don't want to lose 5-1 Mick, it's that one. It's a job terminator of a result.
Happy Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 MattLawExpress Matt Law Heskey. The end. I hope he doesn't retire yet without coming home and playing for us.

Happy Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Maybe he means because he's started it's the end for Aston Villa. If so the journalist in question does not appreciate the true value of Heskey.

I thought that as well at first. Suarez looks at Evra's hand, sees that it's pulled down and moves on. I don't wanna seem like I'm sticking up for Suarez because he's clearly a massive idiot, but Evra is as well. Really can't stand anyone involved in this, and that includes Fergie and Dalglish. I didn't use to mind Liverpool and actually had a fair bit of respect for Dalglish, but these past few months have properly changed my opinion.
