Maynard

If Maynard was interested he would have slapped in a transfer request weeks ago! If a player wants to move they will kick up a stink Maynard has made no public interest to leave Bristol City, with a year left on his contract on the other side if the coin is content to let his Bristol deal run out, personally we should have walked away from this deal weeks ago, the player would have been aware of our advances any player wanting a move to further their career would have told his current club his intentions to leave

hand in a transfer request.. lose any bonus..

hand in a transfer request without knowing any personal terms.. crazy actions..

Intresting that in the 'failed to land' part they don't mention The Yak.

This looks promising tho, 100% want it to happen, i'd be delightedly releaved and full of confidence in our team lol

Itkagent1962:

Not a lot to report on the Maynard front.. Deal will go through. Big transfer for both clubs so it's understandable the deal is taking time.

@Itkagent1962:

#LCFC are also in the process of moving players out on loan to make room for Nicky.

I did want Maynard, but I'm getting to the point now where I think that we should just tell Bristol City to Fook Off.

Despite them beating us I do not expect them to be anywhere near the play offs this season and they have blown their own chances of getting 5 or £6m to invest in their team. It seems incredibly short sighted when the player could potentially leave for nothing within 12 months.

I'm not a fully paid up member of the Yak fan club, but he's the one that should come back. as he knows the way we play and is more suited to the 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 that :sge: insists on playing. He can hold the ball up and bring players into play. I don't care if he's a lazy c**t as I feel he'll make the team as a whole play better with better balance.

If Maynard suddenly signed I would not be disappointed, but it's time to tell Bristol that this is the money take it or leave it and not be distracted from more attainable targets.

Not sure about this..you may be right, but my view is that he the team didn't play better with better balance. In fact I'd suggest the opposite. He may be a goal scorer at this level but the 11 in 19 (i think?) perhaps hides the fact that the team as a whole didn't function as well.

As well as what? You can't think that the team has functioned this season?

There were times, last season, when our football was sublime, but we were naive defensively.

Where's this come off Facebook regarding maynard to be signing 'soon' and the yak til end of the season?

This has been mentioned for the last 8 weeks

Think there are plusses for both Maynard and Yak to be honest. If I were to pick 1 I'd take Maynard. However, both in the same team could be lethal. Both offer different abilities and both score goals.

He blasted it into the bottom corner from a free kick.

Yakubu he doesn't take free kicks and ris rarely outside the box.

So no Yakubu would not have scored that goal, though it's more his other 2 goals that illustrate my point

Nicky would not of been able to score that crazy twist and turn over head kick goal Yakubu did, who, incidently, has a better goals for Games ratio in this division that Maynard does.

Just throwing that in there like...

Well, he scored this one

I'd say that's similar, probably better. :dunno:

And he may well have a better goals for games ratio but he's only played 20 games, so you can't really get the bigger picture (and I know he's scored plenty in the Premiership but he is on the decline).

Anyway I've debated about this long enough, I'll just have to agree to disagree with 95% of you

Maynard did score a remarkably similar goal last season. If I wasn't in a caravan with dodgy internet I would search for it on You-Tube.

He doesn't really seem to want to come to us though? I've not seen him mention us once in any interviews or anything, you'd think after weeks of speculation if he wanted to come he'd have been like:

"It's always nice when you get an offer from a team like Leicester"

The Yak wants to play for us, neither Maynard or Beckford seem to want to.

If the Yak wanted to play for us he would have dropped his wage demands.

IMO you also can't blame NM for wanting to hold out for a premier league club. It's obvious that's what hes doing and when one doesn't turn up, he'll be ours.

Don't think I said they have functioned to potential this season. :dunno: but I agree with the point that at times we were absolutely fantastic last season and it was to that level that i was referring.

All I was expressing was an opinion that last season, although the yak's goal scoring record was impressive, his game was to have the ball played to feet and shoot rather than running into space linking up play, bringing in others etc. (Svens comments in pre season - not mine). Possibly this was to the overall detriment of the teams game....not every game but in the greater scheme of things.

Please please please please let today be the day

As with every other day in this seemingly never ending saga today probably won't be the day

If he doesn't sign i wonder what price Bristol will accept in the January transfer window if they are sitting mid table and no chance of promotion.
