Petchy Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 The same "dubious big money loans" who - under the guidance of Sven - helped us climbing out of the relegation zone and close to a playoff place? Bingo. These Leicester fans want too much too soon though, I bet they'll be the last to come out and praise Sven when we go on a winning streak once the team gets to grips with eachother.
Babylon Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Arrrrgghh..... It's not 3 games, Coventry, Reading, Bristol. It's 3 games with this team.
Tielemans63 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 name me a manager you would bring in then???? I'd give Sven a bit longer but if things didn't improve then I'd go with Lee Clarke. Done a great job at Huddersfield on a relatively low budget, has the team playing good football and working hard. However, with all due reflect to the Thai's they'll want a supposedly 'big name' and not an up and coming manager from league 1 / 2.
Marmite Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can't we temporarily ban members who create these bloody topics over and over again? Just group them into one big thread titled 'OVEREACTIONS'.

Bringing in a manager who has done well with a low budget and then given money to spend can sometimes backfire, e.g. Holloway. Personally i think that Sven should be given time with his new squad.
21st Century Fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 It says it all about our club really that this place gets busy whenever we're going through a bad spell. You see the same names crop up on every thread once we're losing but once we're winning again they go deathly quiet. I swear some people genuinely are torn between the satisfaction of us winning and the gratification of being able to say "I told you so".

Dennis Wise won a shedload of medals before he came to Leicester. It didn't stop him being crap though. I fear, as indeed other City fans do, that Sven may succeed where Wise failed - in destroying our club.
jimbobfox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I'm amazed that people think that sven is clueless, of course he knows what he's doing and he will want to win each game as much as, if not more than we do. We need to give our team time to find their feet. It's a long season and sven and the team needs time.... and for those people that boo at the end of both halves, you need to stop putting the majority of your wages on your team so early in the season. To conclude, patience and time, then eventually the cream will rise to the top.
Tuna Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can Sven afford a bad result against the trees? Anything less than a commanding performance and a victory will do. If we fail to defeat the average teams like Reading and Bristol then we have to go to the City Ground and win. If we put in another poor performance and lose by several goals, I can't see this going on much longer. Sven's proven tactically inept and has made some shocking transfer decisions and has woefully failed to address the Striker issue. Too many square pegs in round holes again and this team is playing similar to the dreadful Sousa team from last year. Falling any further behind will mean we will already be out of the title race and facing a relegation battle. We should never have sold Fryatt, he has not been replaced. O'Neill will not be coming back. Dave Jones or Billy Davies would be excellent appointments.
Tommy G Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Get a ****ing grip - i hate foxestalk when people get all shitty like this, it's almost as embarassing than what happens on the pitch. What happens if we win sat? Will the sven out bus be temporarily on hold? ******

I don't think anyone disputes that Sven WAS a good manager. But the most recent trophy listed is 11 YEARS AGO. How long can you hang your hat on past glories. Surely most managers go past their sell-by date like anyone else. The man needs to get a Grip, literally....
AyewJoking Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 A fooking disasterous start considering we were joint favourites to win the league but give the players some time to find their feet.
marco Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Agree with some of your points; MILLS being the biggest one! not sure what's going on with him but he seems a little out of his depth. I think SVEN OUT is a bit drastic at this point though. He's brought in a lot of new players and it's definatley upset the dressing room. No one seems to know what to do on the park; I feel that's come from the amount of change, however I agree there is a lack of desire at the moment. What with passing that's almost sunday league at times, VERY DISAPPOINTING! It's amost like you're waiting for them to wake from a deep sleep. I'll stick with SVEN though; I'm sure this period will sort itself out, I just hope sooner rather than later. We're in this position now so let's back the boys and let them put it right. The talents there...........and I don't think it's a striker we need it's a good old fashioned captain on the park taking responsibility, rallying and pushing the rest on! I think NUGENT will improve; I was impressed that he is the only player I've seen in a long time acknowledge the crowd when he makes a mistake. C'mon City!!!
Guest safetosurfthisbeach Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I like Sven but can't see him doing well in the Championship. Past glories count for a great deal, but they were achieved under very different circumstances. If he does not produce real results within the next 6 games I am sure the new owners will part company with him - they can't afford to do otherwise.

Concerning his lack of trophies in the last 11 years, he hasn't exactly had a great deal of chance to win any in that time. Other than with England and lets face it only one man has ever really won anything with England, Man City he was given an unfair amount of time. Mexico surely never really expected to win any silverware and Ivory Coast was just to make a respectable attempt in a group of death. The fact that he has won these trophies in the past is alot more than many managers in the Premier League or Championship have ever won or will ever win.

People get hung up on his lack of trophies in the last decade but he's only managed 1 club side and 3 average international sides who had very little chance of winning anything. And I think the OP can be summed up with:

This list has been used soooooo many times to make a point. It's not only incredibly boring but it goes back to over a fookin decade ago.. This has been done to death.. My drinking buddies are avid Sven haters if truth be told. They liken him to the Victoria Beckham of the pop world... Had a few hits early on, but with little real ability and has been living off the reputation and on the 'gravy train' ever since. They say that Sven is a 'charlatan'... Has simply repeatedly gone where the money is and somehow has eked out a superb living from it Yes he's a nice guy, yes he has had success historically but where is the substance? They add.... Myself I can see their point and I'm still not convinced. However, I'm with Babylon on this. We gotta grit our teeth, batten down the hatches and get ready for a tough winter. We must be behind the existing manager.. There is no point being otherwise......
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Some will not like this but I have my opinion and entitled to air it. 1. He has spent millions on dubious signings (Matt Mills being the most shocking) 2. Most signings are defenders but still we concede 4 goals in 2 games at home, 1 game against bottom of the table team failing to have won yet.. Problem not solved then Sven... 3. Sven is tactically inept, his plan is to buy best players and let them do it for him. To be honest, give anyone a large purse and they'll buy a decent team. 4. There is no plan b when we're struggling, Sven's not able to buy new players at half time 5. I don't see a desire out there, I see players that believe the money invested will get them promoted, not hard work. We shouldn't be losing games at home like this, the players shouldn't be looking scared at home.. Sousa can't be blamed for this poor start and wasn't given much longer..... We don't need a "world class manager", we know someone that knows the league, can motivate and know's how to get the best out of players. Hope I'm wrong but I can't see promotion under Sven. sadly i agree in general but we have to give Sven a realistic amount of time to turn it around and hopefully he will
