Ilkeston_Fox Posted 17 September 2011 Author Posted 17 September 2011 I'm chuffed to bits reading this. The missus has been in bed ill all week and as a result I've pretty much had to look after the nipper single-handedly this week. He's 21 months old so I couldn't have taken him to the game, and I never got a chance to listen to it either, so coming on here and reading that, not only did we win, but our performance was much improved, has put a big smile on my face too. And Beckford sounds like he's a bargain. Good point. I know he and CMS were roughly the same price. But it will be interesting to hear the views from people who saw them both play today. Did CMS cause havoc to our defence as much as Beckford did to theirs? I never quite trust RL for fear of biased view points
Cropwellfox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 It has certainly cheered me up - spending the day feet up listening to the radio after the snip this morning... Much better afternoon than morning ! Thanks Yuki and happy to be wrong on the formation
lcfcsnow Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Vassell was unplayable today, great performance shame he can't score goals though
Guest parky0607 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Do one Brighton. I'm going to have the biggest smile on my face Monday morning. I hope I'm in the same situation as you when we play blackpool, otherwise I'll be doooooomed
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Vassell was quality today up front. Mills won everything in the air but distribution was poor again.
Stay Positive Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I misread that as years and momentarily was angry, then I realised I'm an idiot, and I was angry again. He's got his priorities right already, actually. The first thing he gets out of his toy box is his football every time. He sometimes gets the silly egg shaped one out that his egg chasing uncle gave him but he will only ever kick it like it's a football. And he's surprisingly good at football, which has, at times, made me question whether I Am actually the father...
Stay Positive Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 and let's just add the fact that Forest lost to the equation, dropping them into the relegation places...
Guest parky0607 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Indeed. Sounded like they bossed it and gave their defence hell. Hopefully a good sign of things to come. Will Sven have a headache choosing his strike fore when Nugent comes back to full fitness? - How long has it been since the strikers gave our manager a headache for the right reason? I hope he does the right thing and make him fight for his place and prove he deserves a starting spot rather than going back to 433 or dumping someone who is in form and has been working hard
ScouseFox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Right then. First and foremost, fvcking get in, and fvcking fvck off Brighton. Positives; Beckford is ridiculously good, didn't touch the ball without skinning one or two. Everyone played well, choosing a MOTM is hard, very hard, but probably big Daddy V, just. Yuki scored a lovely goal. A clean sheet! Decent attendance as well. Negatives of the game; Brighton's kit offends my eyes. The referee and his L1 side official are the new "worst of the season". The "goal", the hideous timewasting, the amount of yellows, their red card (I think) all so so wrong. All in all, yes Sven. 442
Lambert09 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Got to say we were class all over today, Beckford was shoddy and it took us a whie to settle at first, defence were simply outstanding today. I thought taking pelts off was crazy but tbf Pantsil did come on with a calm head and put some vital tackles in. Yuki has been over looked, incredibly good today, same with Vassell. I just love how much it seemed to mean to the players out there, especially fernandes
B52 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 With Beckford, Vassell and Nugent up front we will be lethal...... One reason we've struggeled is because of Vassels ban and Nugents injurie. Real damage to the balance.
DUBNBASS Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 think yuki was maybe put on the back burner after his patchy performance after a quick return from japan
Webbo Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 1-0 doesn't reflect how much better we were than Brighton. Bamba had CMS in his back pocket, Mills was dominant in the air, Vassell was outstanding, easily MOTM and Abe scoring a header? wtf?
danny. Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Excellent performance today. Defense were solid, Mills much better - Bamba was a mountain, got us out of trouble so many times and looked unstoppable. Konchesky and Peltier/Pantsil also did well. Midfield were calm and stroked the ball around well. Vassell and Beckford a real handful up front, Vaseel MOTM for me, great game and the assist for the goal was sublime. As a team we pressured them all game, closed down everything and gave them no time, they looked completely ordinary today. CMS did nothing, no match for Bamba, in fact their whole team going forward didn't look much of a threat. All I remember was a tame header near the start of the game and CMS skied a shot from about 5 foot out, they didn't do much else. The ref robbed us of a goal and I think Konchesky hit the post (hard to see from where I was sitting). Should have been 2-0 to us. Also, Brighton's kit is DISGUSTING.
LestaFox92 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 good win and so much sweeter as my girl is from brighton cant wait to abuse her family
Rincewind Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 good win and so much sweeter as my girl is from brighton cant wait to abuse her family Verbally I assume?
sphericalfox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 good win and so much sweeter as my girl is from brighton cant wait to abuse her family
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Not much to add today Much better all round performance and lots of effort Bamba MOTM for me by a country mile, despite CMS's missed chance Shame we couldn't turn the screw and get the second to finish them off but there ya go Beckford will score goals but looks a big girl... Finally, the effort Fernandes put in rendered him knackered for the last fifteen minutes and Sven could have brought Lloyd dyer on at that point IMO. Good win
jimmer Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Great result well chuffed Cant wait to hear Claridge back pedaling now!
Koke Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 4 tough league games coming up. Away to Cardiff, away to Middlsbrough, home to Derby and away to Birmingham
easilee Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 By a Brighton fan. 1 min. the sun is out over a perfect pitch as Albion push up but are caught off-side to a slightly late flag. 3. visitors are defending and trying to clear last lines in front of Ankergrens well protected goalmouth. 5. Painter gets down the left from Harley's ball and centres, where Mackail-Smith powers a header on target. 8. City move up field but Seagulls regain possession and Harley slides a pass through for CM-S to chase. 10. Ankergren takes a smart catch and is fouled in the process as the home unit produce a real threat up close. 13. Noone is playing on the right wing and attempts a run down the flank in a one on one with his defender. 15. Albion are forward with numbers, probing for an opening whiles Foxes play more of a cunning game. 16. Leicester net but Ref had already blown for a f-k 18yds out. They miss out on scoring from the set-piece. 18. corner to City comes to nowt, while home fans boo officials for previously preventing the play-on situation. 21. Foxes are on the hunt and outrunning our pack in midfield. Dunk slips but Ankergren is on the right spot. 25. midway through the half and BHA are absorbing increasing amounts of pressure against useful opponents. 26. Ankergren is winding up locals with delaying tactics, to give his rearguard opportunity to draw fresh breath. 29. Brighton spray passes around from the back but can't get Noone too far down the line on attacking forays. 31. Harley flights a corner to the near post but defenders mop up too easily - suddenly Albion go backwards. 35. travellers bravely move forward once more but don't seem able to effectively penetrate strong rearguard. 38. corner to Leicester following a counter attack is an out-swinger and a big blue-shirt forces off a header. 40. home fans badmouth Ankergren for more delay but he is taking pressure off an overworked back five. 44. it has been a lot of end to end chasing, bypassing usual midfield build-up and certainly not a classic half. 45+ Leicester fire over a direct f-k with Ankergren stuck motionless on his line. The chance is wide of bar & post. Albion sees out stoppage on the back foot again. 46. Leicester kick-off, send the ball down left flank, cross and open their account with Brighton caught cold. 47. die is cast early doors and Brighton must go forward. Noone heads Painter's cross to CM-S - very bad miss. 50. Poyet has subs warming up along the touchline, while Albion struggle to regain an attacking edge. 53. Dicker is carded for an illegal challenge and joins Dunk and Painter in the book. BHA go route one. 56. City are all over us like a rash and home fans are noisy. Barnes finishes a break with a header into gloves. 58. Noone gives way to Buckley. Harley and Buckley assume roving roles and link with Barnes - gaining a f-k. 60. Brighton are getting back into the match, although Leicester are quick on the break and very dangerous. 65. southern softies are coming up short and City are running rings around table-toppers at King Power stad. 66. Albion have two shots blocked but Foxes charge up the other end and Dunk sticks out a leg to halt threats. 68. Harley and Dicker get subbed by LuaLua and Navarro. Brighton reshape to line-up orthodox 442 formation. 72. the match has gone a tad flat following changes of personnel by both sides, Ref blows up for home injury. 75.Brighton fans are hardly watching a robust defence of our one hundred percent away record and are quiet. 80. travellers try to up the ante but City break very fast and Painter is sent off for a second bookable offence. 85. this match is drifting toward one of those, tough to take, one-nil results that set the pattern for the season. 86. LuaLua goes down but Ref ignores penalty shouts from frustrated Albion fans. 89. Gus is doing his nut and has witnessed a poor team display, with too many individual errors and bookings. 90+ Leicester have controlled affairs from start of the second period and do appear to be half decent at level two. Radio Ham
Matt Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Better, not sure if i'm a tough task master or not, it was better but not outstanding, however I don't really give a fuck, if i'm honest we could play absoloutly terrible but aslong as we win I don't care too much, of course it's nice to play well aswell. It was better as I said, still work to be done but there was a hell of alot of progress today, lets just hope the same team/performance is repeated from now on! Onwards and upwards, keep it going!
