21st Century Fox Posted 6 October 2011 Posted 6 October 2011 Having seen some of the photos of him recently it was something that seemed to be creeping up on the horizon but its still shocking. I had to read Insanely Great: The Life and Times of Macintosh, the Computer That Changed Everything for uni and it pretty much sums up what a talent he was and how he's really shaped our lives. He will be missed.

Innovation personified - "we were pretty reckless in stealing other people's ideas". Sad to see him go so early, had another ten to twenty years full of ideas in him. Bloody cancer.

But I did'nt know him, and I did'nt want to scream RIP at the top of my lungs when the person who started Ford or Toyota or Zanussi passed away. Apple snobbery also really gets on my tits.

I guess its because he came across as the antithesis to business men like Bill Gates. "Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me ... Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful... that's what matters to me." He genuinely seemed to want to innovate and gave people products they didnt even know they wanted instead of creating products by commitee and focus groups. Also no Steve Jobs, no Pixar and Toy Story!
