Saxondale Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Claims "his old adage was you never go back" but that he'd have to be "very, very tempted".
Walshie is God Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Please let it be O'Neill..........He's the only one who can fill the void left by sven!
Godzilla Gorilla Pimp Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Just cannot see it happening. me either, me babber
Finnegan Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Sounds like they've spoken bout it before, maybe when we got Sven, and he isn't keen.
Saxondale Posted 25 October 2011 Author Posted 25 October 2011 I thought you meant Lennon himself. Haha! You never know!
accessory Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 If MON was tempted to return to one of his old clubs, it probably wouldn't be us. Lennon isn't exactly setting the SPL alight right now and Celtic could easily get rid within a month or so.
Ric Flair Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Sounds like they've spoken bout it before, maybe when we got Sven, and he isn't keen. We had these very same rumours when Sousa left. Bookies stopped taking bets on O'Neill and people in the know claiming he'd been interviewed and wanted the gig. The truth is that he has probably spoken to our owners before out of respect he has for the club but unless something has dramatically changed I can't see why he'd come back. I mean, i'm sure he might get the odd flicker of temptation it's human nature to do so when you've been so successful but it's usually only acted upon out of desperation or other mitigating circumstances. From where i'm sitting O'Neill seems to be very much in control and calm about his career, but if he let his guard down for just one day and we somehow tuck him up with the gig again then i'd go off my rocker, it would be phenomenal. I refuse to let myself think it's remotely possible though, no way.
lefox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 I think we have more chance of seeing Jesus in the helm. If I'm wrong I will print this post and eat it.
dannythefox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 All depends on what we could offer him and if we had money to spend. Make him an offer he cant refuse
Saxondale Posted 25 October 2011 Author Posted 25 October 2011 Agreed - to an extent. Maybe even the great man himself would be even more tempted when he hears what the Thais are prepared to pay for his services! Still, don't think it'll happen. See the bookies have lengthened the odds as well.
Bert Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Let me tell you all now, O'Neill was approached and offer the job the moment Pearson was out the door. That is who the consortium wanted but he rejected us, BUT Mandaric was still our owner then.
trabuch Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 MON just went 1/4 on William Hill - which suggests someone knows something. He is still lengthening on other betting sites (oo-er)

pablos111 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 All depends on what we could offer him and if we had money to spend. Make him an offer he cant refuse I posted on this earlier somewhere that a friend if mine knows Martin very well indeed and last time round he was suppoedly heard to say that you can never go back although he had a special time with Leicester, you can forget the money too, Martin is not the type of guy to come for money, there would be much bigger obsticles than money I can assure you. I hope all these rumours turn out to be true because we will need a massive personality to replace Sven but I doubt it will be Martin somehow. I hope I'm proven wrong!!!!

I sort of agree, plus MON is a very fussy fella, will he drop a division and risk his reputation?
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Please let it be O'Neill..........He's the only one who can fill the void left by sven! How many more ridiculous emotive drivelly posts are gonna be plastered on here today I wonder? What 'void' left by Sven? He's acheived nothing with us, fooked up his tactics, seemingly allowed the players to take control and just been given the boot.. Just think what you're writing and stop spouting such rubbish! Now, when Little or MON left... THEN there were voids to fill.. Because both had actually been successful with us.. Not 'potentially', not 'in 6 mths time'... I still do not understand and never have done, right since his appointment, the kissing of the arse of Sven that has gone on on this forum... Fill 'the void'.. Christ on a bike
Tommy G Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Can't see it happening, I'll cry if it does (with happiness)

Christ on a bike Some of this is just unbelievable isnt it? I'm finding a lot of it very strange, almost like grief ridden scousers have took over the football club, has anybody mentioned a minutes silence for saturday yet??
Raw Dykes Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 I have to agree with everyone who says it's unlikely. If I were O'Neill, I wouldn't want to risk ruining my status as a great amongst the fans of a former club. However, with him still out of a manager's job, and with the situation the club currently finds itself in - desperate for immediate success, and in possession of the necessary time and funds it will take - there hasn't been a better time for him to consider returning. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, as it surely is a long shot - I'm just saying I don't think it's out of the question.
