MON in talks

Just the legend bit. They told him he was 25-1 and he jokingly said he was disappointed to be that long as he is a legend with us. I think he was serious about us being a club close to his heart.

That makes sense now ta. It's tough catching up with everything that's been happening back home while I'm asleep.

I think you are talking about Grayson not Clark. Here's what Grayson had to say about us in the BBC:

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has also denied being interested in taking charge at the King Power Stadium.

He said: "I was a legend down there. It's a club that's very close to my heart but this club is far closer to my heart."

Legend might be pushing it a little. I'm not sure I'll be telling the grandkids about him.

yea cus... he said why wouldnt grayson come..

No replacement lined up, with probably our hardest game so far at west ham! yeah good one! I think a lot of people are over looking Lee clark, ok fair enough he manages in league one, but what a record he has there must be doing something right. Can see us ending up with an abslout mug like benitez! It`s all about the waiting game for now!

lee clark has been backed into a massive favourite by all the bookies

Clark's a good candidate - certainly better than the man all other signs point to (Billy Davies - ie Top's comments about a, "man with experience in this Division" and who is available). I really do hope we 'push the boat out' for Lee Clark and try to entice him from Huddersfield (he has never denied interest in City - unlike Grayson - just that he hasn't been approached). Davies is just so ...... miserable !

A board that hasn't got a candidate ready to sign up the day after they sack the manager would worry me as to their credibility as football club owners. At the very latest the new manager should have been announced yesterday morning.

A board that sacks their manager while 2 points outside the playoffs and 5 points off guaranteed promotion worries me greatly and probably worried Martin O'neil too.

Who in the right mind would want to risk these clowns tarnishing your future reputation, not me and definitely not MON I'd say.

Think we once again go back to square one, what a load of sh**.

Really... as I said in another thread about Clark...

"2nd in league one... 3 points behind Charlton (Chris Powell), 2 points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday (Gary Megson), 4 points ahead of Notts County (Martin Allen).

We really want someone who gets their team 2 and 4 points ahead of Megson and Allen in league one?

I think people are being blinded by this 40 game headline."

Nowt official but it isn't looking good for O'Neill according to the press reports.

Bollocks, How many times do you see a manager appointed within 2 days of a sacking?

it is too soon for Lee Clark to make the jump up from managing a league one club with a friendly, family atmosphere and one at which he is very popular, to a championship club with massive expectation.

The gap is too big IMO.

If Clark has the sense I believe he has, he needs to take huddersfield up, maintain their position in the championship and then consider the next stage in his career.

In other words, he shouldn't run before he can walk. He's doing great where he is, just needs to give it time

It's a kind of affection that you can't put into words.

Maybe because the Clark fans see something of an English Villas-Boas in the guy.biggrin.gif

They're thinking "it didn't work out with an older manager, so let's give youth a chance"...

We've had a couple of dire games under Eriksson, so the automatic assumption is to demand a younger manager who seemingly represents aggressivity, enthusiasm, no inhibitions, etc.

Plus, he's English. No more dealings with foreigners, see?

That's my theory.

Plus, I think Clark should stay at Huddersfield where he's achieved a lot. He belongs there.

Our manager's seat is a poisoned chalice, as Ballard pointed out during Monday's Radio Leicester Phone-In.

On the contrary . .....

Announcing a new manager 2 days after Sven leaving would be both a slur on him personally and undiplomatic to say the least ........and certainly would be a worry as to their credibility as Football club owners !

Does not mean for one minute they haven't got a replacement already in place !

Hi all. Lazy I know, but can someone sum up the 28 pages for me?

I didn't read this last night. Saw on The Guardian that MON had ruled himself out and thought nothing more of it. Now i've read p1 of this. Am confused/excited, etc. Thanks.

I kind of see your point but really, how far do Huddersfield have to be romping the league by to make him a viable proposition, especially after only 13 games (look at their goal difference as well). As for being 'blinded', are people supposed to ignore a 40 game unbeaten run, as if it is some sort of total irrelevance?

Obviously the appointment of Clark would be a risk, but then, so is the appointment of any manager. Clark is a young, exciting manager who takes no crap (see altercation with G. Westley), if we don't take the 'risk', someone else will.

Having said that, if we're hell bent on promotion at all costs this year, I'd be inclined to take Mark Hughes.

Clark - No!

McClaren - No!

Davies - No!

Grayson - No!

Keane - No!

There is one manager that no one seems to have mentioned much... Alan Curbishley?! Why has he not been talked about?

Curbs or O'Neill... I worry if it is anyone else :(

I would guess the following from reading the OP and todays papers:

We did meet Martin to talk, he wasn't convinced, he ruled himself out.

Don't blame him to be honest.

Cheers.

Damn, damn, and double damn!

I didnt REALLY expect it to happen anyway, though it would be nice.

Theres no-one really out there other than MON that looks a 'big enough name' and also fits the bill.

I still stuck £5 on Slaven Bilic on Monday night thoug haha.
