Guest Bilo Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Yes ive been misunderstood on here was oneills biggest fan but all I am trying to say is he would have to get rid of half the current team to get his system to work. I f you dont understand that then you cant know to much about football..I was season ticket holder all through Martins glory years and am today. I just thought it was an odd statement to make is all. I grew up watching the O'Neill team and if there has been a more attractive footballing side wearing Leicester shirts since, I'm not sure I've seen it. We had our moments under Sven but it wasn't consistently good as the MON era was. I'm really not sure he would have to get rid of great swathes of the team to make his mark, remember he followed Mark McGhee who also created a good footballing side, look at the first half at WBA in 1995 for details. I daresay he might put a nose or two out of joint because places would no longer be guaranteed, especially at the back, but to suggest he'd take the axe to the current team isn't really accurate.

Good points but getting a bit carried away aren't we?
m00nie Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 red_leicester Jonathan Paul Despite today's media reports saying Martin O'Neill doesn't want the #LCFC job, someone in tomorrow's Mercury thinks otherwise... #40p looks like he went teh same advertising school as stringer.. dangle a carrot and hint something and get people to buy the paper/ listen to the radio...

dannythefox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 It says tomorrow's mercury it will be someone else surely? Agree.
Ricey Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 It says tomorrow's mercury it will be someone else surely? Could be right actually. I was going on the photo he had uploaded of the Mercury front page, but that's the front page from today.

I should not have put hoof ball as we were never that just meant more direct. I think we need someone to work with our team and maybe add some width and a bit of pace. I just dont think Oneill is the man for us now and we are not the club for him either, he deserves a top 4 club now and we need to keep the same style of game just add a bit of width.
Daggers Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 £100 at 8/1 today has probably ensured that this will definitely not happen.

flanimal Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Martin O'Neill seen at Leicester. 15 years ago.
flowwolf Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Martin O'Neill seen at Leicester. 15 years ago. SINCE ! Ok he won a few things then got the arse and fvcked off but apart from that what else did he do ?
Nick Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 £100 at 8/1 today has probably ensured that this will definitely not happen. You shouldn't be allowed out the house or near a computer during half term. And only under supervision at other times come to think of it.

Guest shearfox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 O'Neill was pretty quick to rule himself out last time, so maybe he is seriously thinking about it....
Guest Bilo Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 It's an ex Leicester player that thinks this.... My guess.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 O'Neill was pretty quick to rule himself out last time, so maybe he is seriously thinking about it.... Did anyone actually directly quite MON, or was it hearsay & opinion?
wattolcfc Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 O'Neill was pretty quick to rule himself out last time, so maybe he is seriously thinking about it.... EXACTLY what I was thinking, IF they met last night and he had turned us down it would have been all over the BBC and Sky Sports by now. The fact he hasn't come out and said anything leaves me thinking that either he's said yes and the wheels are in motion or that he is seriously thinking about it! Or is that me being so optimistic that I can't see anything other than what I want to see?

From what I can gather, no-one met last night and there certainly hasn't been any contact between the club and MON. There have been lots of applicants and they hope to apoint a new manager within 48 hours. That is all
Kitchandro Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Of course someone in the mercury will say that they think he might come, it will sell papers. Judging by some people on here they'd barely sell any once O'Neill is ruled out.
whoareyaaa Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 the scoucer thats put that 2.5k on must be all over these forums.
