Really... as I said in another thread about Clark...

"2nd in league one... 3 points behind Charlton (Chris Powell), 2 points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday (Gary Megson), 4 points ahead of Notts County (Martin Allen).

We really want someone who gets their team 2 and 4 points ahead of Megson and Allen in league one?

I think people are being blinded by this 40 game headline."

Lee Clarke, forget it out of his depth, and don't forget these owners need an internationally known figure for their reputation back home!

Whats Clarke got apart from assistant manager at Norwich, Wow!

Do you think we might end up with Rafa!!!!!, cannot see anyone else that meets their criteria, unless they get Steve Mclaren lol

The Lord knows Sven was given enough good advice to save his job and get things right at Leicester by so many fans.

Use twin strikers, utilise wingers, get a free-kick specialist and organise some proper ploys for dead-ball situations.

Don't use ordinary full-backs as supplementary wingers, take the initiative in matches and make sure there's enough goals in enough places to score what's necessary to win promotion....

So now here's some more advice our owners can ignore at their peril...

Get Solksjaer and give him 18 months to get us up. The boy has everything necessary. Experience, contacts, pedigree and he's a born and proven winner in every aspect of his sporting life. A man who could fit the role not only in the Championship but in the Premiership and Europe as well.

Time to get in touch with Chelsea and see if RDM fancies being the main man again if Sparky doesn't fancy it.

Failing that, what's the dialling code for Molde?

Speaking of Solskjaer, where's our Norwegian contingent when you need news about his progress with Molde?

Haraven, Valerenga, fjällraven, norwegianfox - anyone?

I would love this, I've got a soft spot for OGS and I think he could do a good job too, but its surely a non-starter. The owners need instant success and I feel they would see him as a bit of a gamble.

I kind of see your point but really, how far do Huddersfield have to be romping the league by to make him a viable proposition

I'm not saying he's not an option, but he's certainly not a stand out option the way some people seem to think.

As for being 'blinded', are people supposed to ignore a 40 game unbeaten run, as if it is some sort of total irrelevance?

Well I don't see people mentioning Forests being unbeaten at home for 30/40 games or so. For all of Clarks unbeaten run, they still aren't promoted and they aren't even clear at the top of the league. so there must be a heck of a lot of drawn games in there.

someone was posti yesterday about him, may have been Ivarti, saying he is doing a great job there, working well on a budget and with the same crop of players he was given initially. there were some VERY good noises about him

They're 8 points clear and on the verge of securing their FIRST EVER title.

It's safe to say he's done a good job there Alex. Be interesting to hear from that contingent about his style of play, man management style etc though.

Whatever he's doing though, it's worked so far.

Gamble? He saved Ferguson a result time and again. Every manager is a gamble. Might as well gamble on a guy who's a winner both as a person and a player. Even over season's of injury Ferguson didn't want rid of him and installed him as a coach, manager and ambassador.

Don't forget Solskjaer's contacts as well from his three years with Manchester United's set-up.

Also, cutting his teeth and gaining his badges under Ferguson can be no bad thing. I daresay he's seen as something of a protégé by SAF.

On the contrary . .....

Announcing a new manager 2 days after Sven leaving would be both a slur on him personally and undiplomatic to say the least ........and certainly would be a worry as to their credibility as Football club owners !

Does not mean for one minute they haven't got a replacement already in place !

But football is now very much a hard nosed business and that sort of thinking went out as soon as super rich investors got involved. There's absolutely no place for sentiment if you want to up with the big boys. As I explained in my opening post on these forums, I'm not a Leicester fan, I joined because I'm into betting on new managers but I've enjoyed my time here, there is some good discussion. I'm an Owls fan (I know  ) and know only too well about dithering boards over the years. Wednesday used to do this all the fooking time. Sack a manager THEN go looking for a replacement, only to be turned by the first few they approached (and, of course, have it reported in the press). It just devalues the job when subsequent prospective managers know for a fact that they may be anything up to the club's fifth choice IMO....not to mention the public's perception as to how the club is run.

I'm not debating what he has done thus far, I agree with you. I was saying that the owners MIGHT see it as a gamble as they said they wanted someone with experience in this league.

So you are seriously suggesting they aren't letting the new manager that they have secretly employed get stuck into the running of his new club straight away because they don't want to make a slur on Sven? Pull the other one. They haven't got a new manger yet, I'm sure. I thought these people were serious business people? If they sacked the CEO of their Thai company would they delay announcing a replacement due to not wanting to place a slur on the outgoing CEO? lol. The only excuse for them is they may be trying to poach a manager already in work.

So you think that in the world of football ....it's perfectly acceptable and diplomatic to discard a gentleman like Sven one day ,and appoint someone the next .......you think thats being credible do you .......both as club owners and businessmen ?

How to win friends and influence people !

Do me a favour Owls fan ............go and play in the traffic !!!

Whether Sven was a gentleman or not is NOT the point, it would just be shit business to not appoint someone because you were caring for your EX employees feelings, thats not how things work. Get real!

What you are suggesting (that they have someone in place but arent allowing them to get in to their job, ahead of our biggest game of the season yet), is utter madness!

Sounds as if you have already been playing in traffic and hit your head mate.

I would guess the following from reading the OP and todays papers:

We did meet Martin to talk, he wasn't convinced, he ruled himself out.

thanks

lol I love that Thracian basically posts 'well, I DID tell Sven how to save his job!'

Could you imangine the reaction if OGS sits back away from home? ;)

So it's that straightforward is it ?

You wanna get real.........how many times have you seen in football one manager leaving a football club and another taking over the next day ? Clubs do not do their business like that for a number of reasons .......one of them is diplomacy !Something you'd know nothing about obviously !

As is Steve McLaren.
